Hey, the organization I give most of my donations to, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), is doing a tripling event until the end of the day. They're one of the few orgs still providing medical care in Gaza, and they're also working in Ukraine and Sudan, among other places.

Something I don't think people realize about historical weapons and...should be considered in fantasy.
Slings.
...a properly shot stone from a sling can generate 100ft lbs of force and rival a javelin or spear.
And they go farther...
Shepherds had only slings for ages.
They do require amazing skill, but when it's all ya got in the backwoods....you get damn good.
There are recorded quotes from conquistadors that Incan slings were chipping, even shattering, some swords. You take that to the upper 1/3 of your skull? Rip...
David beat Goliath because he brought a 9 mil. To a sword fight.
Now bows overtook the sling because it's an easier skill gap to close than mastering a sling.
Easy? No..still takes practice.
Easier? Yes.
You can also get off more shots quicker, and then when you're mounted??? The Mongol Empire, the largest contiguous land empire, has entered the chat.
But, yeah, slings are gnarly. They're cheap. Effective.
And rocks...well, ammo is everywhere.

You know what would be a really interesting idea? Where the mentor of the Main character and the Big Bad villain are both future reflection of what the Main character could be. But they both took separate paths. Now in most fiction, the hero would choose the path where they are more like their mentor. And in rare occasions the character would take the villain's path. But I don't think I have seen it where the hero sees and recognizes what happened with his mentor and the big villain, and decides that he will not follow either of their paths but carve out his own, using the valid points both sides made while cutting out their bad/ negative aspects. A new path that is a mix yet unique.

What does Elias like to do in his spare time... would he go anywhere special just on his own to do something ?
I think post Helios, Elias would get into smth like leather smithing. Practical and super hands-on. I can see him being really into the entire process (including sourcing his own hides). That's his enrichment !!! And ideally he and Vaughn put together a little workshed for him and it's cute as fuck. I imagine him spending hours staying busy in his little shed (probably to distract him from his own thoughts butttt still so nice yay)
It's probably a valuable skill and I think it would award Elias some amount of trust among ppl down on Pandora which I think they'd appreciate.
Adding on bc I forgot to !
Elias isn't completely inexperienced in terms of making things with his hands. I think it was something he would've picked up in his teens, then he had to drop it to work for Jack later in life. It's not too important, but it matters to me.

Prior to the election, I recall some Rightwing Analyst predicting that Orange Palpatine would win with over 50% of the vote while Harris barely gets 40%.
Orange Man did win in both Popular and Electoral Votes but it wasn’t the landslide that said Analyst predicted.

Reminder:
People who shifted Right did so mostly because of Economic Concerns .
Yes, social issues related to Gender and Ethnicity may have been elements in places but they’re not the sole determining factors.
Dems focusing on appeasing corporate CEO’s and the like did NOT help them in the slightest.
It’s my honest belief that Dems really need to repair their image of truly being the Party that stands for “Working Class” individuals.
The current “Status Quo” must be undone and replaced with a new normal of average folks being empowered instead of oligarchs.
Dems must do this in order to have a meaningful future.

Okay, but what if the Eddie with his hand on Buck's shoulder still is from before the one with Buck and Chris? Buck is just going over his plans of taking Chris to the basketball court for whatever reason and Eddie is all like, relax, I trust you, man, and then Chris gets hurt and Buck panics?

Happy OTP day! Thank you for always being keen on my weirdest ships! Your sad mages and their beloveds always have a special place in my heart! Have you ever considered an adult Kieran Ephraimson in Veilguard?
“Kieran Ephraimson” delights me so much.
Honestly, not a lot, just vague concepts here and there as I’ve seen others’ Kieran!Rooks. My first thought is of making him look like the art @perkeleen-lavellan drew forever ago when we talked about our Kierans, where mine had Ephraim’s dark brown hair and glasses with Morrigan’s golden eyes. My other thought is that he’d be taller than both his parents at age 21-2 (if I’m remembering Veilguard’s start date of 9:52 Dragon correctly… I have to admit I’ve been gradually converted to 5’ 4”/162 CM Morrigan to make it easier to smooch 5’ 2”/157 CM Ephraim). I’m imagining a spindly guy with long hair and his family’s signature cheekbones. I think the only faction that’d make sense would be the one @raymurata uses for their own Rook Kieran, the Veil Jumpers, and honestly using a different surname as an alias is probably a good idea if I keep Ephraim being less than loved by the public and/or powerful people like Divine Leliana from his original timeline. But I think this would still mean Kieran has to work with his mom, which could be funny. (And possibly sad… I don’t have a clear idea of what’s happened to Morrigan beyond that she apparently has the Mythal fragment? I don’t mind spoilers here if you or anyone want to share)
Personality-wise, he’d be no less “weird” than he was as a kid with the Old God Soul because he was raised by curious people who push the boundaries of what magic can do and talk like they learned to speak from reading old books. I think he’d be a mage too; my first thought is that his magic would follow the “theme” of being darker and earthy, so maybe he’d be a Death Caller? Necromancy might also reflect spending time in Skyhold around Solomon, who’s a necromancer and naturally talented with Entropy spells.
It’s hilarious to me to think about Solomon, now 56 or so, married to Dorian and with a “living wood” prosthetic arm, wondering who the new person is that will help stop Solas and it’s literally the kid he helped Morrigan rescue years ago, now grown. (I never fully ironed out the prosthetic arm concept beyond that it would be wooden but “alive” and therefore mossy and/or alternately able to bloom with flowers. Now that I think about it, it’s a symbolic representation of his own “rebirth” via reclaiming the Elvish name that was taken from him and generally becoming more optimistic because his faith in people and that things can change positively has been restored. He’s living his best life after Trespasser tbh. I’m pretty sure the arm concept is lifted from Merle of The Adventure Zone, but a nature-themed replacement arm just seems to fit Solomon better than a thing of metal)
Thank you for asking this and remembering my Sad Guys, especially Ephraim 🥺🫂 I hope you’ll be just as enchanted by the new batch of non-Dragon Age OCs I’ve been thinking about for when I’m able to game again (there’s only 2 fairly developed ones right now, but still, I hope they’ll be similarly compelling). I’m also always here for “weird” ships—the more complex and/or dramatic they are, the more interesting IMO.
