RP Blog for Athos based on Alexandre Dumas' works and the BBC T.V. show “The Musketeers”. Great warrior, skilled swordsman, sober, snarky, elegant, former Lord. The ace of the group sort of. Cynical.

As if by reflex, finger tips brushed along the curvature of her neck towards the hollow - brushing the masked mark of his attempt. Her expression fell, brows furrowing slightly. “It wasn’t long ago you told me we were strangers but that didn’t seem to hold true.” She didn’t have any easy answer for him.
♦
“Then we’re less of a pair of strangers now” he observes her expression, focuses on the way her eyes are looking at him and what she does with her fingers…she’s torturing him, she wants to make him feel miserable, doesn’t she? And he can’t blame her but there is a inner struggle going on in his head.

“You need to be dead to be a ghost.” She offered, her tone far more teasing than mocking. Emerald hues lowered in demure fashion as a small flicker of a smile tugged the corner of her lips upwards. “And one would need to believe in such nonsense.“
♦
“I thought you were” he says, biting his tongue right after saying such things. He doesn’t know if he’s glad she’s still alive, because if the woman he once loved would be dead perhaps it would be easier to live on. “Were do we stand now, you and I?”

He looks up from his flagon to find another pair of eyes staring at him. Hat over the table, gloves next to it. He side eyes to left and right but sees no one, and asks the girl “…Something wrong?”

“Captain Athos…” The title still felt so strange addressing him, as she had become so accustomed to Captain Treville being in charge. However, Athos was the perfect choice to take his place, and he deserved as much respect. With a small bow, she faced him with somber eyes and slightly trembling hands. “I have received word that my aunt has fallen ill and may not last much longer. I am requesting a temporary leave so that I may go say my goodbyes, if I may do so…”
♦
He is still not used to being called like that, but it’s technically not incorrect, so he can’t exactly say anything about it. “I’m sorry to hear that” but then again there’s War to think about… There’s a heavy heart in Athos because he does understand, but duty should come first…

“ I work ‘ere, sir. In th’ kitchens. I was gatherin’ stuff from th’ garden when th’ men ran through. “ She noticed the gun was still pointed at her, but she held no malice for the man. She realized soon after her first words that he was a Musketeer. His job was to protect the king, and despite feeling like she was holding him back from following the men, she could certainly say he was doing a fine job in her eyes.
♦
He hasn’t seen her before, then again it’s not possible for Athos to know every single person working withing the King’s castle. He lowers his pistol for now. “I will escort you back” says Athos “I’m with the King’s musketeers, the name is Athos” he places his pistol back where it belongs but keeps his eyes on her.

“—Athos.” His name slips from her lips so effortlessly, no hint of venom behind it. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
♦
“Are you not but a ghost?” he asks, still coping with the fact she is still alive. But he owes her for her latest efforts to…help? Redeem herself?

As if it weren’t hard enough to understand some people around, this one has got an accent herself. “What are you doing in the King’s Gardens?” his questions are always on point, no time to play around. However, he doesn’t lower his gun.

“Yet here you are” he shouldn’t be so cold, he shouldn’t be hurtful but he can’t help it. There’s this constant fight between what his heart feels with his logical reasoning in his head.

He can ask ‘how did you get in?’ or he could say ‘get out’ but he simply presses his head into a cube with cold water. He isn’t a morning bird, and he is the grumpiest of all when he wakes up at first light…
“But Athos,” D’artagnan stammered, swallowing sharply. He wanted to be sure that his mentor was alright and that he’d join them for training. “Athos, you can not spend the rest of the day pouting and drinking. I need your leadership and wisdom… you are always telling me that,” the Gascon added.

Relief washed over the Queen, who had stood patiently for the new Captain to arrive. “I am sorry to have summoned you at such an hour, when your focus should fully be upon the preparations for the war.”
♦
“Please, do not worry about such things. Your Majesty needed me, and I am here to serve” he doesn’t know what to say, the news of him becoming the new Captain of the Musketeers had been…sudden.
