Grandpa Rowan doodle based off @letternumbersash 's post because it's been the nicest jumpscare I got this week (hope it isn't a problem I made a drawing about it, actually 👉🏻👈🏻)

Rowan is sensitive when it come to family, meeting his baby grandson would just have him melt like ice-cream under the sun.

Rowan has always loved being a father, but he can't deny his experience with parenthood wasn't all ideal: he had Ambrosius when he was still young, not doing great financially and married to a woman who, at that poit, he didn't love anymore.

Coming back years later, seeing his boy all grown up, and happy, and and in a loving marriage, and with a kid of his own - it's making him emotional in all the best ways possible ♡

Warning yapping ahead:

This makes me so violently ill in the best way possible. Assuming that Percy is born a bit earlier than the time of the joust this would just be tragic for him .Like imagine suddenly your dads aren't together anymore and all you know is "they got into a fight and didn't work it out". I can see this adorable child just asking if they hate him or if he did something wrong. Ambrosius hearing this would just be shocked as it's one of the few moments he realises how badly he fucked up. He would tell him that He and Ballister don't exactly have a good relationship but neither of them could EVER hate Percy. God it's NEVER been your fault baby and don't you ever think that 😭. The thought of Ballister just watching him from afar hoping that his boy doesn't think he's some absolute monster who doesn't want to stay with him and Ambrosius anymore is killing him. He finally gets to see Percy while he was in the middle of one of Nimona and his schemes and he just freezes looking at his child like goooooooooooosh damn. Percy wants to reach out for him and so does Ballister but neither knows if they should. Percy is thinking that's my dad. There's a giant dragon who can also turn into a bunch of other animals . A shapeshifter? What is going on!? Eventually Ambrosius comes looking for Percy ? Ballister ? Who knows ? Everyone just stands in silence and Nimona is just there like wtf is going on. Maybe Ballister has told her maybe he hasn't but the estranged family reunion vibes are clear to her. Towards the end of the book Percy is just STRESSED there's a giant demon on a rampage your dad who you just found again is holding a small child that looks just as traumatized if maybe more than you while your other dad is trying to fight the demon !? Then your who you haven't seen since you were a small child is like I gotta go try and fix this and you're just like NO!? YOU SHOULD NOT BE DIVING IN HEAD FIRST INTO THAT! He does it anyways but not before he tells you that he loves you and he wishes they all could've stayed together cause that's all he's truly ever wanted. He goes to to try and fix things and eventually the little girl and the giant demon thing get obliterated your dad is carrying your other dad who is literally on death's doorstep while being badly injured himself. You end in a hospital one dad in a cast and sling the other in a coma who you aren't sure will wake up or not. Percy just thinks how he can't bare to lose him and how he would go on if worst comes to worst. Ballister is sitting next to him not speaking just drowning in awkward silence damp with his and his son's anxiety. Ballister feels like a shitty dad because he sort of left his son like his own father did. Then the nurse comes talking about a monster and your dad defends them and you're thinking they must have been important. Your dad goes out to look for her after getting a message while you probably feel conflicted to follow him. If Percy followed he'd probably watch Ballister say goodbye to nimona and maybe wave goodbye himself. If stayed after Ballister ran off to look for Nimona he just wonders why he ran to go see her and why he didn't go rum after him when they saw each other again. Then miraculously your dad who was in a coma wakes up and he asks where your other dad is. After that Ballister comes back in everyone is just trying to get it together cause Ambrosius woke up from a coma and he's stuck in the awkwardness with his son and his ex? partner? Really divorced situationship kinda thing? The whole damn rollercoaster comes and goes. In the epilogue I think Percy might've been waiting for Ballister with Ambrosius or he would've just been walking with Ballister. Percy is now with both his dad's who are somewhat on better terms. He knows that things still need some mending but things are better. That was my yapping and if you read all that I hope you liked it l.
