There has been any kind of "crossover" between gastronomy and alchemy at any point in History? Like a dude who wanted to discover the elixir of life and actually invented Worcester sauce or something similar. I guess there has been some kind of overlap.

The Marie in "Bain Marie", refers to Maria Hebrea, the first Alchemist.

"Mary's Bath" now referred to as a "double boiler" was originally an alchemical technique. So yeah every time you melt chocolate like that you're doing something that was invented by a Jewish Alexandrian alchemist like 2100 years ago.
