What do you think about homosexuality?
I think that homosexuality is a sin, because the Bible says multiple times that it is. I also think that the topic of homosexuality in the relation to Christianity is not something that has changed over time, meaning Christians’ viewpoints of it should not change or adapt with the culture. I don’t think that homosexuality is any worse of a sin than any other sin, such as lying, stealing, committing adultery, murder, or lusting, and that many Christians wrongly make it seem worse than other sins. And, most importantly, I see homosexual people as completely worth loving and accepting as human beings, and see they are often put down the most harshly by the one people group in our society who should be loving them the most: Christians. We forget sometimes that we are commanded to love one another multiple times in the Bible. Christianity is not about condemning people or judging people or hating people. It breaks my hearts to see posters that say “God hates gays”. That statement is so completely opposite of anything that God would ever do, and it’s an insult to His character and the character of Christians. And while I don’t think Christians should judge homosexuals or anyone committing any sin, I do think it’s important that we speak up about the consequences of living a lifestyle of sin, and those consequences are eternal life in a fiery, terrifying, repulsive, excruciatingly painful hell. It would be selfish and rude to not try to change the ways of people who are on the road to hell (which is not being judgmental, it’s being honest). Homosexuality is such a touchy topic in our culture, and we as Christians add to the offense by saying being gay will lead to hell. But the only way it would be offensive is if it weren’t true, and it is. I care too much about the fate of others to keep quiet about matters that could land them in hell due to ignorance. I’m not trying to be rude or mean by having this stance, and maybe some ‘Christians’ like to call others out on their sins to make themselves feel better, but a true Christian will only speak out against a homosexual lifestyle out of love, and I feel that’s what I’m doing. I hope I haven’t offended anyone by this statement, and please know that I love you all, gay or not, so much, and I try to have compassion and empathy for those experiencing this struggle. God loves you infinitely more than I do, and He will never stop loving you, through your sin, no matter what.
