Did You Know? Lexington, KY's First Buildings Were Made From Bark

Bark was a significant building material in early Lexington
Did you know that bark was a significant building material and construction method in early Lexington? In 1783, Colonel William Preston built his home on Main Street using the “brick and log cabin” style that many settlers used in the 1780s when they settled in Kentucky. The clay that was used to make these bricks came from the banks of the nearby Kentucky River. Clay bricks were laid horizontally along two sides of a rectangular structure while logs were laid vertically on top of each other at right angles to those brick walls.
Bark was used in the 'log cabin' portion of the brick house on Main St.
But did you know that the log cabin portion of this house was built in 1786? The logs were made from bark and were used as a building material in early Lexington. Bark was a common building product for homes because it was plentiful, easy to obtain, and could be shaped into many different forms. Today we take pride in our city’s rich history and culture, but it wasn’t always easy growing up here!
Log Cabins were built with bark in the 1780s on Short Street
You see, in 1780, Lexington was still a very young city. But log cabins were built using bark. Bark was used to cover the logs on all four sides of the building—to create a shape like this:
As you can imagine, this would have been pretty uncomfortable during the hot summers of Kentucky summers! But that wasn't all they did with bark...
Bark was also used in early homes, churches, and businesses in Lexington, KY
Did you know that bark was also used in early homes, churches, and businesses in Lexington, KY?
The first log cabin on Main St. was built using bark from trees. It stood until the late 1800s when it was replaced with a brick building (which still stands today).
It is an interesting fact about Lexington, KY's history
The early settlers of Lexington, KY used bark from trees to build their houses. They would cut down the trees, strip away the bark, and use it as a building material. This was done because they didn't have any money or other sources to use for building materials like brick or stone.
It's an interesting fact about Lexington's history!

Facelift Surgery - A Operation Based On the Problem
Tumblr media
Patients are often unaware of the different types of facelifts or Rhytidectomy available today. A facelift procedure should be matched to the patient's facial age, recovery preferences, and the cost of the desired result. This is part of the basic concept of "matching the solution to a problem". These factors are all important when deciding on the type of facelift that should be performed.
Facelifts are now known by many different names, mainly because they are marketing-oriented. Facelifts can be classified into limited and full-facelifts. The limited facelift is the most well-known and popular. Although it is called many things, such as lifestyle lift, MAC Lift, quick lift, and many others, the limited facelift is the most popular. A mini-facelift, also known as a limited or "mini-facelift", is a modified version of a full-facelift. The incision (scar), is only in front of your ear. There is no skin lifted up or trimmed.
Liposuction can be combined with a minimal facelift in many cases. This results in a slight improvement to the upper neck and jowl. It requires a short recovery time. This procedure can be done in a short time under twilight and is often performed as an outpatient procedure. This is best for younger patients with early signs of aging and only minor neck and jowl problems. It can also be used for older patients (who need a full facial for the best results) who don't want to undergo a full facelift. A patient who is open to minor facial improvements with minimal downtime, costs, or potential complications. A limited facelift can be combined with other procedures like blepharoplasty or chemical or laser skin peelings to achieve even better results.
A full facelift is still the standard for all lower facial procedures, no matter how small or complexes they may be. A full facelift will yield the best results for patients with advanced facial aging. For a deeper lifting of the neck, a full facelift involves incisions (scars), that run between and in front of the ears. A partial facelift will not produce the same results as a full one. Although full facelifts sound more serious and complex, they don't require prolonged recovery. Although they can take up to 10 days to make you look good socially, they don't require as much recovery time as some patients believe.

The Fascinating World of Surgery: Everything You Need to Know
Tumblr media
If you're considering surgery, you're not alone. Millions of people undergo surgical procedures every year in the United States alone. Whether it's breast implants Lexington KY, a tummy tuck Lexington KY, or botox injections, there are a variety of surgeries available to help improve your appearance and your quality of life. But what exactly goes on during surgery? What should you expect before and after your procedure? In this blog post, we will answer all of your questions about the fascinating world of surgery!
Surgery is a medical procedure that involves the cutting and removal of tissue from the body. It can be performed for a variety of reasons, including to remove cancerous tumors, repair broken bones, or correct birth defects. There are many different types of surgical procedures, ranging from simple procedures that can be done in an outpatient setting to complex surgeries that require a hospital stay.
Before you undergo surgery, you will meet with your surgeon to discuss your medical history and the specific details of your procedure. You will also have a physical examination and some tests to make sure that you are healthy enough for surgery. Once everything is approved, you will be given instructions on what to do the night before and the day of your surgery. These instructions may include fasting for a certain period of time before the surgery, taking a shower with antiseptic soap, and avoiding wearing makeup or lotions.
On the day of your surgery, you will be taken to the operating room and given anesthesia. Anesthesia is a medication that will help you relax and sleep through surgery. Once you are asleep, the surgeon will make an incision in your skin and begin the procedure. Depending on the type of surgery you are having, you may be in the operating room for just a few hours or overnight.
After your surgery is complete, you will be taken to a recovery room where you will wake up from the anesthesia. You will be monitored closely by nurses during this time as your body adjusts to the surgery. Once you are stable, you will be able to go home and rest. Most people take approximately two weeks to fully recover from surgery, during which time they may need help with activities of daily living such as bathing and cooking.
If you are considering surgery, be sure to do your research and ask lots of questions. Surgery can be a life-changing experience, but it is important to make sure that you are prepared for everything involved. Talk to your surgeon about your goals for the procedure and what you can expect in the days, weeks, and months after surgery. With the right preparation, surgery can be a positive and transformative experience!
