Ever get one of those nostalgic moments when you drift into a great childhood memory? I guess my brain was ready for a break and I decided to write a few thoughts. I’ve been spending a lot of time lately researching social media for business and how to use it more effectively. Why? Because screen time is off the charts. On average adults spend about 3 hrs and 45 min a day on their phones or other mobile device - and its increasing. If that’s not scary enough, our kids are not far behind at an average of 2 hrs a day. Makes me want to lock this phone in a drawer for a week. Now, I remember binging on cartoons on Saturday morning as a kid. But most of my days - particularly during the summer, I spent outside. All the kids on my street would get together, organize and play kickball, softball, tag, football, basketball, or even have dance contest. We were really social - developing interpersonal communication skills like team building , compromising, respect, negotiating, and problem solving. We didn’t have to google it, watch a Ted talk, or use cute pictures to express how we feel. We simply applied what we were taught at home. We developed real coping skills because we didn’t spend our lives in simulated worlds with predictable outcomes. Please don’t get me wrong I love technology. However, I’m learning that it’s so easy to grow too dependent on it. I’m so thankful I was raised during a time when I had to walk or ride my bike to my friends house if I wanted to chat with them. And guess what, if they weren’t home, I just got some fresh air and exercise - win. If you are in the Roswell, Ga area, let’s have coffee sometime. Stay blessed brothers and sisters. To my married or soon to be married brothers... I’m sure many of you would agree with me that women are a wonderful gift from the Father. When the Lord brought woman back to Adam, although bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh, she was an equal individual with a purpose - and they were designed to be brought together as one flesh again. Much easier said than done at times. I have found the key to coming together is not my way or her way but God’s way. My brothers, our language is respect, I believe a woman’s is love. This is why I believe the Bible instructs men to love their wives and women are instructed to respect their husbands(Ephesians 5:25-33). When it comes to communicating with each other we have to get out of our comfort zones if we really want to do it well. We are the servant leaders of our household - so we take the lead in seeking God first, not to win an argument, but to know how to extend grace. I get the fact that feminism was originally a positive movement - focused on giving women the basic rights God intends for every person to have. However, I believe now it’s been hi-jacked and focuses on destroying all distinctions in the roles of men and women.
In the garden, Eve was deceived and believed the lie that eating the fruit would bring her wisdom (Adam was there too). Blinded by her own lust, she took something that was forbidden - they both ignored the fact they already had everything they needed. This is the problem with the feminist movement now - many women have bought into the lie that feminism will bring them the power and freedom they think they want and deserve. 
Look, I don’t care who you put in Congress, you can’t legislate a person’s heart. Attempting to do so will only bring more division. Pretending that there is no distinction between men and women in order to gain or influence power is foolish. We were designed for different roles. Sure, I have a feminine side - her name is Tracy Perry and she is the love of my life. We compliment each other. Embracing our differences and living out the purpose and plan God has for our lives is what keeps us together. 
Those of you who know me already know I’m not about being “PC” - but I love people. This is not a political rant, just a heartfelt request that we be doers of the Word and heal our families.

Brothers and sisters, there is nothing wrong with being clear about what you want. Jesus said; ...“But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’ [a firm yes or no]; anything more than that comes from the evil one.” (Matthew 5:37‬) ‭How much more productive would we be if we applied this principle more in our lives? I believe this not only applies when dealing with other people - but also being straight forward with ourselves. For some reason it seems that we like to live in the grey area where we can avoid confrontation of any kind. Truth is, that’s not possible. You can’t please everybody nor should you try. In most cases you’ll end up not pleasing anyone - including yourself. Here are a few things I’ve learned: Know what you really want before asking, otherwise you’ll be disappointed in what you get. Know what you are seeking, otherwise you won’t find it and trouble will find you. Know whose door you’re knocking on, the one who answers may not have your best interest (that applies to what’s knocking on your door as well). There are those who seek to keep you herded in the grey area where everything is “relative” - there is no black or white, no real truth. That is the lie and the trap. That mindset will lead you down a destructive path. Brothers and sisters you are smarter and better than that. May God bless the work of your hands according to His will.
