TAEHA.
Seeing her name on the Project Origin call sheet still felt a little surreal. It wasn’t the first time she had been cast in a theatrical production - thanks to spending most of high school in the arts department. However, the stakes were much higher now. Having a role, even a minor one, in a Legacy musical felt like another evaluation of her skills and would undoubtedly be taken into account if she were ever to be considered for debut. She needed to make a good impression!
Luckily, she wasn’t alone in navigating the pressure and added nerves. Despite being separated from her roomie ( while still pouting and reaching out to her whenever they crossed paths during transitions from Pattern A to Pattern B ), she found comfort in being able to rehearse with other friendly trainees - Kiha included. Although, most of her knowledge of the older trainee came from her habit of third wheeling, she looked forward to working with another dancer who wouldn’t judge her quirky vocal cues or her occasional clumsiness. …And she supposes she could put their ongoing custody battle disputes over Haley’s free time aside to focus on perfecting the choreography.
“Hi, hi!” she skipped into the practice room with a warm smile, waving both hands before tossing her pink messenger bag aside and joining Kiha by the floor-length mirrors. “Hope you weren’t waiting too long! I was just watching some recordings from our last rehearsal and lost track of time.” She pulled her arm over her chest, beginning a quick warm-up. “Should we start with a full run-through to see where we are or jump right into polishing?”
kiha checks the time on his phone once again before placing it back inside his backpack, zipping it up with a sigh. he walks back towards the center of the practice room, swinging his arms back and forth, beginning to warm up. kiha feels like he’s lacking of late— in terms of his performance and fitness, especially in comparison to where he was at last year. he could blame it on the first quarter of the year, but this was entirely on him. he had to do better— go harder. put in more and more effort. everyone was expecting more of him.
he isn’t alone for long. still caught up amongst his own thoughts, taeha magically apparates into the studio without kiha noticing, which admittedly takes him by surprise. she definitely had a similar vibe to that of his girlfriend’s — vibrant and lively. he understood why they got on so well and why taeha was constantly third wheeling them. oh well.
“oh, hello.” he murmurs, bowing his head in her direction, still fixated on warming up. the last thing he needed was an injury that could of been avoided. “no. not at all— i just got here.” kiha reassures, watching the younger female’s reflection in the mirror. his eyes flick back to the door of the studio for a second before finding taeha again. he clears his throat. “a run through might be a good idea?” he suggests with a shrug, resting both hands on his hips.
“i don’t actually know how much i remember. so i don’t think we should try polishing anything right now.” kiha says plainly. “what about you?”

HALEY.
haley raises an eyebrow and smirks, pushing a stray strand of hair from her face. “is that a threat? or a promise?” haley wonders, her words slow but confident. “remind me not to drink water then.” she finishes her sentence with a soft sigh, looking back up at the phone screen where kiha lays what feels like a world apart. same city though, which is what bothers her. she doesn’t want to think about how easy it would be to see him in person right now, how if she demanded that he hang up the phone and come to her, he would.
“what’s your regularly planned video game?” she wonders. “you should save your energy for the new zelda game or honkai.”
“i think you should give your sister more credit,” haley says with a laugh. “i’m glad you like it,” she says, knowing he would and knowing he wouldn’t say otherwise if he didn’t. there’s something so soft and romantic about the way that kiha looks at her, as if he is the lead in some jane austen novel. it makes her blush and she tries to hide it by pulling her hair across her face and hiding from him for a few seconds.
“cheesy,” she says again from behind her hair. she fumbles with her pillow and turns to lean on her arm, pouting at him. “i miss you too,” haley says with a whine. “you sure you can’t just crawl out of your phone like the little girl from the grudge? oh wait, that’s the ring.”
kiha hums, chewing the inside of his cheek while contemplating. "promise.” he finally says with a small nod of his head, made slightly more difficult by the fact that he was laying down in bed. “no, don’t do that. drink your water, silly.” he misses the gesture of bringing haley snacks from the local convenience store he worked at prior to acquiring his tutoring gig. he was always so adamant that haley stay hydrated, although it was a little harder to push through the phone— so she would have to put up with his silly little periodic text messages throughout the day instead.
kiha hates that it has to be like this— their late night conversations being hosted by facetime, her face being reduced to pixels on a phone. he had gotten so use to seeing her everyday. and while he sees her so much more now he’s graduated from university and is back on the morning path, it still feels like someone’s following him around with a knife to his back or something, watching his every move. kiha hates that he can’t ambush her in the hallways with a back hug and kiss or eat lunch with her in the cafeteria without people second guessing their motives.
being in love was harder than he anticipated initially. but he figures that this was a lot easier than whatever was ahead if they made their debuts and became idols. he would have this every damn time over not having her at all.
“i don’t have a regularly planned video game.” he murmurs back to her. which he didn’t. kiha had gone through phase after phase of playing different games throughout the years before falling into a drought period where he didn’t pick up a controller for months on end. he was in the mood to play games of late though, which was unusual. “i’m only on a resident evil kick because i just went and marathoned four’s rerelease.” kiha explains to her. haley was never really a fan of the games he played anyways. “i’ll watch you play instead.”
kiha sighs, offering haley a small smile. “i don’t think i would fit through your phone. i could do your window though.” he wishes he could crawl through her phone, even if only for a second— if the universe could spare him a moment to kiss her forehead and tell her goodnight. “actually, on second thought. i don’t think taeha would appreciate that. or the company.” he says with a chuckle. “i’m on my best behaviour now anyways. but you could fit through mine, though.” he adds, raising a brow before panning the camera across to the haley sized space on his bed. “i have room.”

in sync.
with @lgctaeha◞ ✰    — at project origin rehearsals.
kiha was surprised to find out that he wasn’t going to playing the role of a magical tree in project origin— he was certain he wasn’t destined for anything beyond being a member of the musical’s ensemble. while he hadn’t been given a major role, he had a part. kiha was both relieved and beyond anxious. simultaneously. and while he wasn’t super enthused about the theatrics of said musical, he was eager to perfect the other elements, such as the songs and the choreography that composed the setlist. he didn’t know a lot about musicals, they never really interested him.
he’s luckily group with a handful of familiar faces— sejun, nina, kai and funnily enough, taeha. it was a little strange, having someone on the outskirts of his circle who shared names with his younger sister ( not that it was totally uncommon ). kiha knew of taeha through haley, of course. they were close friends and roommates. it was a comfort to kiha, knowing she had something she could rely on when he wasn’t around. he only wonders what haley has told her about him. good things, hopefully.
taeha was a dancer, like kiha. so at least they had a foundation to interact on a less awkward basis. after all, kiha needed all the help he could get. he’s bunkered down in one of the practice rooms, hoping the two of them could go over some of the choreography they had began to learn.

SEJUN.
“never?” sejun wonders after taking a moment to look around the place, before settling into the table across from kiha. “no mcdonald’s barely counts. ours is a lot different. i mean, in the long run, i think going to in-n-out is more american, right? it’s at least made a little better even if it’s still fast food.”
he misses LA a lot when he thinks about it, mostly because of the beaches and how close they were so he could go surfing after practice or early in the mornings. here, he has to travel quite a bit to go to the best surfing locations. there was also a different quality to america that he had enjoyed too; people of all types, shapes and sizes, languages he didn’t recognize, a clash of cultures he wasn’t used to.
“yoo kiha has no bad ideas,” sejun says looking at the menu after he’s unfolded it. there seemed to be quite a lot of random menu items, eyeing what he wants and settling in on a burger with everything, bacon included. “how have you been doing? i missed a few morning runs because it’s not the same without your beautiful shining face at 5am.” sejun pauses, happy to be in the company of his best friend again. “things have gotten better though? with the… you know, being over?”
sejun confirms kiha’s suspicions regarding american cuisine— and if macdonalds doesn’t count as american food, then kiha honestly hasn’t craved it before. “nope, never.” he says with a firm shake of his head. kiha feels as though he’s answered the question rather inappropriately, given he was dating an american. “you were so adventurous when we were in los angeles last year, wanting to try everything.” he recalls their traineeship abroad fondly, remembering even back then how different his relationship with his best friend was. and hell— even himself. even haley.
kiha quirks an eyebrow in response to sejun, his eyes still trained on the menu. there was quite the assortment, catering to both korean and western tastebuds. “yoo kiha has many bad ideas,” kiha begins, gently closing the menu, having chosen his burger. “you’re just fortunate enough to not hear any of them.” and even though kiha loved sejun a whole lot, he admittedly still held back a lot of his personality and thoughts from the other. there were limits and walls in this friendship, which were beginning to break down over time. so perhaps sejun would be subjected to kiha and his stupidity in a years time.
he stalls when sejun asks him how he’s been doing. a loaded question. one he hasn’t really had opportunity to sit and think about— dwelling on the past few months only makes kiha feel bad. he takes in a deep breath, leaning his forearms on the table. he manages a smile at sejun’s comment about missing a run or two— something sejun seemed to of come to enjoy, despite his apprehension in the beginning. “i’m sorry about that.” kiha murmurs. he was still grateful for the space his best friend had given him while he navigated the past few months, something kiha hadn’t been so fortunate to have in his past.
“it’s been better— i’m doing okay.” he admits to sejun, without going into detail. kiha’s day to day was beginning to improve though, even if only slightly. he was taking everything slowly, day by day— and ultimately, he still had her at the end of the day, and that made everything all the more easier. “but yeah. i think some of the trainees wanna cave my head in but, it is what it is.” he says with a shrug and a small chuckle. “you okay? i mean— you had it on both sides. myself and yohan.” he had been so deep in his own shit that he had failed to check in with sejun.

HALEY.
haley’s hands are still around the water bottle, feeling a little sweaty, as she watches kiha do a little spin to show her the 360 of his school uniform. she gives him a little smile and relaxes one of her hands at her side, flexing it a little before letting it hang. “hey, some of us still look pretty youthful,” haley says with a laugh. “some old lady at the bus stop the other day told me she thought i was in middle school. but i don’t know if that’s good or bad.”
her head turns to the side a little as she listens to him speak about his high school school uniform. haley suddenly thinks of a smaller, maybe less brooding, teenage kiha reading books outside, and smiles to herself. she would have loved to see what he was like in his day to day life back then, when life was a little more simple than what it is to this adult day. he can’t be that much different to now though, right?
“what’s incorrectly?” she wonders with a raise of her eyebrows. “shirt not tucked in? wow, what a rebel.” haley giggles softly. “yes, i would love to see them. i feel like me and her need to connect soon. i have some things i’d like to ask her.”
haley pauses, going to rub her eye before pausing and remembering that she’s wearing makeup. “i’m okay. just sleepy. i was up too late, i think. i don’t remember the time but i was trying to ascend seele… in honkai. she’s really pretty.” haley takes a deep breath. “but i’m having fun. how about you?”
the reflection staring back at kiha every morning as he went about his routine was still kiha— he had grown a little taller and filled out, broadened— when compared to his teenage self, though. physically, they were still the same person. mentally, not so much. kiha still remembers teenage haley and how shy he was at seeing and having such a pretty girl in his discord messages. but nothing had changed there. kiha laughs. “well— you get discounts for that kind of thing, at least.” he says with a shrug. no one was mistaking kiha for a middle schooler. his discount days were well and truly over.
“uh— yeah.” he says, kicking at the smooth ground beneath his feet with the toe of his sneaker. “i remember my volleyball uniform a lot better than my school uniform, actually.” kiha glances down at the uniform he was wearing for the photoshoot. in a way, it feels like he was getting a second chance at being a kid— since so many of his childhood years were clouded by bad memories.
“i can give you her number if you want?” he suggests. “taeha— she harasses me on the daily about you whenever i speak to her. my grandmother too, actually.” he says, rolling his eyes. kiha hadn’t exactly wanted his sister and grandparents to meet his girlfriend for the first time over the phone. it should be over a nice meal. somewhere nice. he wishes he had the opportunity to whisk her away for the weekend to daegu, even if it was only overnight. “oh, i’m sure you do.” he wonders what questions haley has for his sister. couldn’t she just ask him? he would tell her.
he’s not at all surprised haley spent the night playing games. it wasn’t unlike her to be a little on the sleep deprived side because she lost track of time playing her gacha games. “ah right. that’s the new genshin game. isn’t it?” kiha asks haley, knowing that it was indeed a new game from her favourite game’s developer. he contemplates his response, before giving haley a small, curt shrug. “i think i’m okay, too.” he murmurs. a bit nervous. a bit... excited, i guess.”

SEJUN.
sejun hadn’t seen the three of them in a room for months and if he did, it was for a few seconds before kiha decided to disappear back into whatever dark cloud was consuming him for the day. sejun knew well enough to leave kiha alone but with yohan, he was more than willing to make sure that he was okay through all of this. with the both of them on his mind constantly, sejun had fallen into his own pit of self deprecation.
tonight though, sejun feels pretty good having them both beside him. kiha at his own tsundere distance away and yohan right next to him, wrapped in a blanket. the three of them decided to watch a horror movie, or well, sejun posed the idea because it’s a movie he’s been wanting to see for awhile. usually, he doesn’t do very well with horror movies but he never remembers just how much he hates them.
“because you’ve seen ponyo over a billion times,” sejun says with a smile. “midsommar is supposed to be good and i haven’t seen it yet.” sejun’s always been into film and so even with his reaction to horror films, he’s never going to omit a whole genre of movies from his viewing. that would be crazy.
sejun reaches out to pat the pack of yohan’s neck. “i think we’ll be okay,” he says, getting comfortable on the couch and putting his phone in his pocket. “and of course, we always have our big protector in the corner over there.”
@lgckiha
kiha wanted to begin appreciating moments like this— the simplicity of a movie night with his two roommates who were actually people who he cared about and wanted to have in his life. the past few months had been tumultuous for the three of them, so the normalcy of sitting down to watch a movie together— a horror movie, even— was unexpected but welcomed. it was wanted. kiha could only hope that maybe one day this might be just something they did on the regular.
he feels a little awkward and out of place on the lounge suite, occupying the end while he third wheels the younger two who find solace underneath a blanket. kiha chuckles to himself at sejun and his attempt to reassure the youngest of tonight’s playing movie. “ponyo is a good movie.” he murmurs under his breath, agreeing with yohan. he wasn’t about to disagree, as a certified ghibli fan— although he would probably lean towards howl’s moving castle if he was forced to make a decision on what one he liked best. midsommar. that was the one with the cult in sweden, or so kiha thinks. kiha doesn’t consume as much western cinema as he should and if he does, it’s usually because he’s trying to study english— watching the movie for the language, not the story.
“this isn’t the corner.” kiha says, gesturing to his spot at the end of the couch. he pulls his legs up onto the couch before crossing them in front of him. “don’t worry, yohan. i’ve apparently got your back if a swedish cult attempts to recruit the two of you.” he reassures, throwing them a thumbs up. “alright, who has the remote? play it.”

HALEY.
haley is more than excited about her first modeling contract, she’s ecstatic. and didn’t hesitate snatching up the opportunity to sport some new school uniforms as soon as the gig became open for fresh faces. haley also didn’t go to school in korea, so the uniforms were something she was always a little jealous of. she’d have loved to skip the problem of figuring out what to wear in the morning and relying on a tennis skirt and a collared blazer instead.
she’s feeling a little sleepy this morning after staying up pretty late playing honkai, already obsessed with the game, and for some reason getting her hair and makeup done only makes her sleepier. to keep herself awake, she’s standing at the edge of the room, drinking a cold water. haley rocks on her feet, zoning out as she waits for the photoshoot to start.
in all honesty, haley barely notices kiha walking up to her until he’s about a few feet away from her, with his hands tucked in his pocket. she smiles at him, stopping her movements and putting her hands in front of her as they circle the water bottle. “hey,” she says, eyes moving up and down to take him in fully. “you look good too. very youthful.” haley lets out a little laugh, looking around a little paranoid.
she refocuses back on kiha. “i never wore a school uniform growing up,” haley says casually. “it’s kind of fun. what did yours look like?”
kiha figures that uniforms were probably one of the easier things to begin with when it came to modelling. it seemed to be a good starting place for a lot of the idol groups, legacy or not. and it was probably why kiha felt like the entire legacy trainee cohort was here on set for this singular shoot. he’s spot a couple of familiar faces. kiha feels good not feeling so distant from his peers for once. kiha chuckles at haley’s compliment before giving her a rather choreographed spin to showcase the uniform he was wearing in it’s entirety. he tucks his hands back into the pockets of his trousers. “thank you, i think that’s the look they were going for?” he questions, cocking his head to the side. “not much else they can do with a bunch of twenty somethings cosplaying as teenagers.” he then adds.
the lightbulb flickers inside kiha’s brain at haley’s comment. she was from the united states. she wouldn’t worn a uniform to school. “oh right, of course.” he mutters to himself. he didn’t know if he would call wearing a school uniform fun, maybe it was for her— his secondary schooling was some of the worst years of his life, so maybe it was nice to have a do over on the memory, even if only this once. “my uniform?” kiha asks. “well, it wasn’t as nice as this. that’s for sure.” he says, glancing down at the white shirt and blazer combo, finished off with a tie. “it was just a public school uniform. pants. shirt. blazer. i didn’t always wear my uniform correctly though.” he explains, looking back up at haley with a small smile. “i’ll uh— i’ll shoot taeha a message. for pictures.”
“you okay? having fun?” he asks.

model couple.
with @lgchaley◞ ✰    — at icsu photoshoot.
kiha never anticipated signing up for an opportunity like this. modelling, and school uniforms of all things. nor accepting a contract that wasn’t confirming his debut as an idol. but haley— haley was persuasive and where she went, kiha willingly followed. within reason of course. it’d been a rough couple of months for the two of them, between mental health declines and opportunities lost, for haley at least. so when the chance to participate in something together arose, kiha was willing to step out of his comfort zone and take said chance.
he forgets what it’s like to wear a school uniform, having blocked that portion of his life from his brain— and likely for the better. it’s an experience in itself to have stylists fawning over him; as they brush his bangs into place and touch up his makeup for the umpteenth time. he’s not used to having people so close to him. but kiha doesn’t think he looks so bad in a tie and blazer. it’s definitely more youthful looking than the suit collecting dust in the cupboard back home.
kiha slowly makes his way over towards haley, wanting to at least talk to her briefly before having to stand in front of the cameras and have their pictures taken. dating or not, their interaction here was by no means suspicious. kiha wasn’t going to give legacy any reason to think otherwise— he was going to prove that they could coexist in a professional environment. besides, there was enough trainees dressed in uniforms, scattered between stylists and staff members.
“hey there,” kiha murmurs, stopping a few foot front of haley, hands tucked inside the pockets of his trousers. “look at you. look at us. you look great.” not entirely what he wanted to go with, but surely she understood where he was coming from.

project origin◞ ✰    — audition solo.
there was absolutely no apprehension about the dancing or singing section of the audition for the upcoming musical for kiha. whatever it was that legacy expected of or wanted him to showcase, he would do so with ease. yet— the need to create a character hadn’t been as easy as kiha had initially hoped it would be. he considered himself to be somewhat of a creative person. perhaps not as creative as some of the people he knew, like sejun— but he was interested in storytelling. as an avid reader and gamer, it was easy enough to get lost in a world that wasn’t this one. yet— anyone who knew kiha would think such a statement was crazy. after all, he seemed grounded to this reality. but kiha had spent countless hours absorbed in books and games growing up, all which had become an escape of sorts for his troubled mind. it was an easy distraction for kiha.
and while it took some time, kiha found a character worth presenting for his audition.
the charismatic, cool and effortless stage persona— or at least the one kiha was trying to uphold when performing, melts away. and in it’s place stands yoo kiha. most knew kiha to be quiet and reserved, stoic even. seldom did he act out or raise his voice, although last quarter surely tested him. he bows towards the panel he stands before, offering them a small, awkward smile before he begins his spiel. “my character, my knight—” kiha begins. "he is noble and just— he has a moral compass. he plays by the rules and does right by others.” historically, at least within the western world, knights were vassals of monarchs— they offered their swords and in turn, their ruler bestowed them with a title and land. however, within a post-apocalyptic world like the one the musical is set in, he wasn’t entirely sure how that would play out. “he doesn’t say much. he keeps to himself, even within the group. he doesn’t want to become the center of attention. nor does he want fame, fortune or to be overly successful. he just— he exists comfortably, as is.” kiha continues, walking the panel through this character and his thoughts slowly. “despite this— he is also kind and he loves very deeply— he wants to protect those he cares about the most.” he says finally with a nod.
"his power—” the options for powers were limitless, it could be anything— something simple or game changing. and kiha didn’t want to be the guy who presented a character to the panel with the most out of pocket, game breaking power. so kiha decided to try and keep things simple, and perhaps slightly poetic— opting for something valuable within the proposed universe. “my knight — he’s skilled fighter. he’s athletic. his power—” kiha pauses, wondering how to best phrase his choice. “within reality, this reality; it would be perseverance. he gets knocked down and he gets back up again. within that reality, though— uh, it would be... regeneration.” his voice softens at the reveal, unsure of how the panel was taking this character presentation. despite his distaste for talking aloud, kiha reminds himself how this was just one necessary step towards keeping everyone off of his back. but part of him thinks that this musical, although out of his realm of interests, might actually be good for him. “he takes hits but... he keeps on coming. essentially, he self heals...” he explains. “without his skills though, regeneration wouldn’t be much use. i mean, the enemies within games and that who have regenerative abilities always tend to be a little more annoying and tedious to get rid of.” kiha adds with a chuckle, alluding to his nerdier side, which he seldom revealed to people who weren’t in his immediate circle.
“overall, my knight— he wants to do what is best for others. he is a force of good.” kiha finishes his presentation with a nod of his head before giving the panel of judges one final bow. “i hope my presentation on this character was... adequate. i look forward to the outcome. um, thank you for listening.”

SEJUN.
sejun’s not one to stand on the stage and before legacy, he never really thought he’d be doing anything like this – creating a musical persona in the form of an elite knight. sejun’s crafty, to say the least, so the prompt for a character is something that gets him thinking, which has him nervous for an audition. he doesn’t really want to star in a musical for a couple reasons, dancing and overall stage presence being the main two.
sejun is lamenting once again, not unusual. kiha pulls him from his thoughts and he can only smile at him. “sure,” sejun says, laughing a little. “if you remind me as well.”
he moves his feet back and forth, pausing to heave a sigh. sejun wishes that he was doing something else with his time but he also wants to stop complaining about what legacy has him doing. mostly because it doesn’t seem to be doing him any good but also because his mood keeps getting lower and lower as the days go on where he feels kind of stifled, bored, and overworked.
he’s trying to feel happier, less bogged down being a legacy trainee. but the more he sits through these musical workshops the more he wants to withdraw.
“agree,” sejun says in the same hushed voice. “at least you can dance though. i’ve still got two left feet.”
kiha attempts to remind himself that this quarter could be a lot worse. a musical was probably an optimal outcome for them. then again— it wasn’t hard to beat the last three months curriculum wise. at least working towards a musical was within the realm of learning something new for a lot of the trainees. and kiha was grateful the opportunity to maybe perform again— even if it was on for a musical, and whatever that may actually be or as. kiha figures he could settle for something simple, with no talking— like a tree. surely legacy wanted some emotive looking trees.
and besides, what musical didn’t have trees?
“alright then, i’ll keep that in mind.” there was an overwhelming sense of relief going into this new quarter for kiha. he felt mostly like himself again, but it was reassuring knowing he had sejun at his side. “i don’t know,” kiha says, folding his arms across his chest. “i don’t think that the sort of dancing i do is what they really want for musicals.” he wasn’t much of a musical connoisseur, be it of the film or stage variety but he knew that stage wise, they had a style they went for. it was big and it was theatrical, and kiha hadn’t much experience with other dance styles. “unless we’re talking... step up or like... i don’t know, high school musical.”
kiha rolls his eyes at sejun’s dig at himself before gently kicking his shin. “you do not.” he thinks the younger male has improved his dancing tremendously, at least since kiha and him had been friends. “starting to think it’s all that working out you’ve been doing.” he adds with a smirk.
“you got any ideas for this character we’re supposed to be creating?”

HALEY.
haley beams at her phone screen like a love sick puppy. in part of her mind, she can’t believe someone has the power to affect her like this but she knows that she’s save with kiha. in the last handful of years, he’s proved that to her over and over again. as he does now, greeting her as if she’s the most perfect person to ever exist. (when does the honeymoon phase end again?) haley doesn’t blush much anymore or get embarrassed, although she probably would if taeha were around to hear her.
“sounds busy,” haley replies, giving him a once over. he looks good and that’s kind of rude, considering they’re communicating over pixels. “did you have a chance to eat? and keep hydrated?” she says with a little smile, poking fun at the texts she receives from him daily to eat and drink water (which in his defense, are things she regularly forgets). “you better remember or i’ll call the cops, yoo kiha. the food and water cops. that exists right?”
“oh, what game are you playing?” she watches as he pans down to the resident evil 4’s start menu. haley makes a face. “blech, no genshin impact? you gotta work on your builds so you can start to carry me. but say hi to your man crush, leon, for me.”
haley smiles at the compliment, rolling her eyes a little. “you’re cheesy. my day was okay… just training and playing games. i dyed my hair, did you notice? taeha helped me… well, she just watched because i don’t trust her clumsy little fingers. she probably would have made it turn out like bright orange somehow!” haley laughs.
the first six months of haley and kiha’s relationship hadn’t panned out exactly how they intended. but in a way, it felt like a lot longer than six months— and it had been— years. he couldn’t deny that he had loved haley, although very privately and quietly, since the age of seventeen. despite the challenges they are met with regarding their relationship, and their status as trainees within an industry that favoured finances and parasocial relationships— kiha knows there will come a time within this universe in which he and haley will be together. it was only a matter of time.
“don’t worry, i ate earlier.” he hums back to haley with a smile. it was very kiha of kiha to text her throughout the day— periodic reminders that she eats and stays hydrated. otherwise it would be too easy for haley to forget. he appreciates the sentiment of her attempting to remind him. "and look—” kiha reaches over the side of the bed and pulls his abnormally large water bottle from his bedside, holding it in front of the phone. “water on hand. did you eat and drink yet?” he asks her, putting the bottle back down again. “if not, it won’t be the food and water cops, it’ll be me.”
although kiha had a genshin account and a cast of rather sought after characters, he lacked the drive that haley did when it came to absorbing himself into the game. she knew the lore and the world and the characters back to front— like the back of her hand. it always kind of amazed him. she was kind of amazing anyways. “uh, you gotta work on my builds for me is what you meant to say.” kiha smirks, fiddling with the fine silver chain around his neck. he rolls his eyes at her leon comment. he very much did not have a man crush on leon kennedy. “i just finished playing the remake. i’ll be back to my regular programming shortly.”
“i did notice— i like it.” he had noticed her dark hair immediately, although haley was beautiful to kiha, regardless of what colour hair she had coming from his head. he feels like she’s had light coloured hair most of the time they’ve known each other, contrasting to kiha’s natural hair which had never been touched by dye in it’s life. “not that my opinion should warrant what colour you have your hair.” he says honestly. he chuckles to himself at the mention of haley’s roommate. “it must be a taeha thing. sounds entirely like another taeha i know.” kiha was referring to his baby sister, of course— seventeen year old yoo taeha who was still harassing her older brother over when she was going to meet the esteemed li haley who she had heard so much about.
“and i’m not cheesy, just observant. telling you the truth.” kiha sighs, leaning back into his pillows a little more. “i miss you so much right now.” seeing haley through pixels on his phone was enough, but it sure didn’t take away that feeling of longing that followed him around day to day. he wanted to be with her.

scary movie.
with @yohanlgc & @lgcsejun◞ ✰    — at boys’ dormitory e, aka home.
kiha would like to think that his absence from the dormitory this past quarter hadn’t been all that noticeable. it had been easier to avoid the gaze of his roommates, sejun and yohan— and any accompanying questions or concerns they might have about him and his now turbulent state of wellbeing. he had barely spoken to yohan and sejun for three months, nothing much beyond a hello, goodbye or see you later. and he feels bad. he knows it would of been easier to lean on the shoulders’ of his friends amidst his hardships. but kiha had always been too proud for that.
things were getting back to normal now. no more small talk or evading interaction. kiha’s brain was beginning to slow down once again, so he was back to enjoying the little things in life, like movie nights with sejun and yohan in the dorm. it was a saturday night and the three of them were done with their training for the week— if they could call it training, right now their life was solely preparing them for project origin, the second rendition of legacy’s musical production. it was someone’s bright idea for the three of them to attempt to sit through a horror movie. while it was far from his favourite genre ( he wouldn’t outwardly admit it, but he loved romances ), scary movies of any sort didn’t bother kiha. he was interested to see how the other two would take to it.
kiha slumps back against the back of the couch that occupies their living room. folding his arms across his torso loosely, keeping himself a good arms length from sejun and yohan, he waits for the two of them to settle at the other end of the couch before hitting play.
