The Liberal Prosperity Party's Political Positions
Positions on Commonly Debated Topics:
Environment The environment is essential to the well-being of our beloved planet and its inhabitants. Therefore, we believe the government should prioritize environmentally friendly decisions whenever feasible. However, the primary focus must remain on the nation and its people. While environmental concerns are important, they do not pose immediate and drastic consequences that warrant extreme governmental intervention. Additionally, addressing environmental issues requires global cooperation, and unilateral action by the United States alone may have limited impact. As such, the Liberal Prosperity Party does not support banning, restricting, or imposing additional taxes on the production, sale, or use of gas or diesel vehicles.
LGBT Rights Members of the LGBT community have the right to express their sexuality and gender identity. However, for all legal and official purposes, the government should recognize only an individual’s birth gender. Furthermore, government resources should not be allocated to actively advocating for the LGBT movement, as members of the community face no direct governmental threats. Additionally, gender transition surgery and the use of hormone blockers for gender dysphoria should not be accessible to individuals under the age of 18.
Marriage Marriage—whether heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise—is a personal relationship between two individuals and should not require government involvement. The government should not officially recognize marriages, except in cases where legal intervention is necessary for child custody disputes.
Abortion Abortions should be legal for any girl or woman, with her consent, for any reason, up until the end of the first trimester. After the first trimester, abortion should remain legal if a doctor determines that the pregnancy poses complications that could be detrimental to the mother or the fetus. This standard should apply to second- and third-trimester abortions. Additionally, pregnancies resulting from rape should be eligible for abortion until the end of the second trimester without restrictions.
Marijuana, Tobacco, and Alcohol Marijuana, nicotine products, and alcohol should be legalized for individuals aged 18 and older. At 18, individuals are considered adults and are mentally capable of understanding the consequences of substance use. Therefore, the decision to consume these substances should be a personal choice, free from government regulation.
Selective Service The Selective Service Act should be abolished. The conscription of individuals into the armed forces—regardless of the severity of the situation—violates personal liberty. If military service is truly vital to the interests of the American people, individuals will voluntarily enlist.
Interpretations of Commonly Debated Constitutional Rights:
Freedom of Speech Freedom of speech is a fundamental right that must never be restricted or limited by government authorities for political reasons. The only permissible restriction on free speech is when the speech presents a clear and reasonable risk of harm.
Freedom of Religion Individuals have the right to practice any religion freely. Religious acts and rituals that do not harm others or violate the law must be protected. The compatibility of a religion’s ideology with federal, state, or local laws is irrelevant to the rights of its members. Furthermore, freedom of belief extends beyond religion and applies to all ideologies.
Right to Bear Arms The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution affirms two key principles:
The existence of private militias is constitutionally protected. Therefore, all law-abiding militias have the right to operate and must be safeguarded.
The right to bear arms is guaranteed. "Arms" include any offensive or defensive weapon, encompassing firearms, blades, ranged weapons, and certain explosive weapons. However, weapons that pose an obvious and unavoidable threat to bystanders—such as nuclear weapons, missiles, and powerful explosives—should be restricted or prohibited by the government.
