Cuckoo in the Nest by PennyLane

Word count: 41728 ︱ Chapters: 1

Human AU. Arthur, a famous novelist in hiding from the media after being publicly humiliated when he is left standing at the altar. While Alfred, a newly hired personal assistant helps him heal from the heartbreak. 

Anything by PennyLane is incredible, I recommend All Roads Lead as well!

Proving a Point by Orestiad

Word count: 68818  ︱ Chapters: 11

Highschool AU. A terribly sweet, dramatic, and heartbreaking fanfic that unfolds the developing love of Arthur and Alfred. With fate and reality against them, their love proves victorious in the most heart-clenching ways. 

Orestiad is my favourite writer as all their fanfics are captivating as hell with their incredible use of realism and fantasy. I recommend all their fics!

Word count: 20092  ︱ Chapters: 1

Superhero/Superpower AU. 

Arthur Kirkland is a nurse at Labyrinth Penitentiary, a place for dangerous criminals and metahuman superheroes to live out their sentences. It's a more dignified means of paying for his years of crime than rotting in a cell. Arthur despises it but it's a job like any other, a leash he's willing to deal with if it gives him his relative freedom.

That is, until he meets Alfred F. Jones.

^ UGH. This one is literally so good. (btw their skyrim fanfic is also really good, but they didn’t finish it ) 

Some others are Exceptis Centum by PurrV, and anything by Gallifreyanlibertea is really good as well! 

^ I’m sure they have a tumblr that has fics that they haven’t posted on Ao3 yet.
