The fact that I read the first sentence of this in two different ways.

The first time I read it, I read it as if Phoenix was recalling a time, saying he wants to go back to that time when they were so close.

The second time I read it, it read as though Edgeworth didn’t know how they could be friends after they just shared a bed.

My brain is screaming.

Legally Blonde is my favorite movie/musical so I’m gonna provide my own thoughts.

First question, is it an AU as in every Ace Attorney character is at Harvard Law or is every Legally Blonde character now in Japanifornia. Or is it a crossover?

I’m gonna assume it’s the first one for my rambles on this.

So first of all, Phoenix is clearly Elle. Now is Edgeworth Warner or Emmett? I’m a big Narumitsu shipper so my heart is telling me that he’d be Emmett, but it doesn’t make much sense considering Elle went to Harvard for Warner, not Emmett. Although Emmett encouraged her to keep going through with law. So Emmett could instead be Mia despite me not wanting them to be love interests.

I wanna then say Paulette is Gumshoe. I considered Maya, but personality wise, she’s Gumshoe and that would then make me make Kyle Maggey because yes.

Callahan is definitely Manfred Von Karma, no doubt about it and Vivienne is Franziska. Easy.

Brooke is then Larry.

I think that’s all the important people.

I think if we’re able to pin down people to characters, connecting them to the story will make it easier.

I was bored while visiting family so I wrote a whole page of lore for my rewrite. It was actually a really nice exercise to figure out what I wanted to do with the lore we were given from the show. Here it is on paper (transcription below):

The Beginning

In approximately 500 B.C.E., scholar, Zhenyu began studying early concepts of wuxing and yinyang. To connect with the spirits of nature and philosophy, he came into contact with the kwamis.

In a prototype of the miraculouses, Zhenyu created the Prodigious which harnessed Chinese values. When his creation proved successful, he moved on to work on the miraculouses, locking the Prodigious away to avoid it getting into the wrong hands as the Waring States period was approaching.

He entrusted his mentee, Shu’an, to watch over it. Shu’an eventually created the bracelet key to enter the Sacred Cave.

The first miraculouses Zhenyu crafted were the ladybug earrings and the black cat ring. He gave those miraculouses to two students of his.

Huìjí was his smartest student and one of the first that he introduced to the kwamis. She was given the ladybug miraculous and became Piáo Chóng.

Kuánglì is his second student to receive a miraculous. Despite Kuánglì’s reckless nature, Zhenyu believed the black cat miraculous would give him the responsibility to shape up. Kuánglì using the black cat would become Hēi Māo.

Zhenyu would record his findings and observance of the miraculouses and experiments in what would become the spell book.

Before escaping China, he would create the rest of the Chinese Miraculous box. Moving to modern-day Tibet, Zhenyu started The Order of the Guardians to protect the miraculouses as well as to pass down knowledge of their creation. Zhenyu’s final action was making a wish to keep The Order of the Guardians hidden.

There’s a lot more I probably would’ve added had I had the paper space. And a lot more I should clarify.

First of all, the timeline. In my rewrite, the miraculouses are much less than 5000 years old. They’re still old, just not that old. Give civilization a time to start, would you? This places the creation of miraculouses somewhere in the Spring and Autumn period of China in a very early Shanghai.

Yes, I’m keeping the Prodigious. The way I see it, Zhenyu had an idea for the miraculouses and wasn’t sure how exactly it would work (like my rewrite) and so he had like a test run where he made the Prodigious and was like “do I want it to work like this?” That’s why the Prodigious works so differently from the miraculouses. Like his original idea was to turn the wearer into the respective animal, and then he was like “no, I don’t think it’s really gonna work this way” and so he scrapped it like a pilot for a show.

Shu’an is an ancestor of Fei’s adoptive father, Wu Shifu. A very dedicated man to his mentor. Shu’an was Zhenyu’s first student, so when he was left this task to watch over this one jewel, he made sure it was protected for millennia. I like to think he and Zhenyu are like Eddie Fender and Gregory Edgeworth (the Ace Attorney brainrot is real). Dude went so out on protecting the Prodigious, he created a secret cave and bracelet key and I think he might’ve also created Mei Shi (I still need to figure out what I’m gonna do with him). What a gigachad.

The whole thing with locking the Prodigious away happens after Zhenyu leaves China. It was more like a final bid farewell to Shu’an after all those years of training and he’s left with a final mission to stay in China and watch over the Prodigious. That’s just the flesh out the timeline a little more.

Zhenyu creates the entire Chinese miracle box while in China. I was hesitant on having the Chinese zodiac miraculouses apart of the box with the ladybug and the cat, but this choice to have them all created first in Shanghai is what sold me that they should be in the same box. This is what sold me that the Chinese box is the first box which will lead to more boxes being created later in Tibet.

I want to create a whole separate story for Piáo Chóng and Hēi Māo as they are the first miraculous holders. I think they do know each other’s identities and have like an enemies to lovers arc. Like Huìjí is really bitter that Kiánglì has a miraculous too because she feels like she worked to where she is as Zhenyu’s best student and Kiánglì is like a troublemaker so why should they be equals. So not only are they going through those personal issues, but then they’re figuring out the powers of these magical jewels they were granted and they don’t get any help from anyone because they’re the only ones who have ever used them in history so they’re learning beside Tikki and Plagg.

I think by the time the first miraculouses are created, Zhenyu has more than just a mentee. He’s a teacher now teaching dozens of students. He’s beyond a philosopher or scientist in his own study. Those students that he teachers will begin The Order of the Guardians as Zhenyu will take them to Tibet with him.

The reason they leave China is because of war. Like Zhenyu has developed supernatural powers that can be pretty much given to anyone. That’s gonna put a target on your back if there’s a major violent conflict going on so he kinda needed to get out before things heated past boiling point. That’s why The Order of the Guardians stay mostly hidden throughout history other than the odd time someone in the world gets a miraculous.

And the wish Zhenyu makes ends his life. It’s the first instance of a wish being made from the combination of the ladybug and black cat miraculouses and it’s how the guardians know it works. So basically, I imagine a young version of The Order of the Guardians was at active risk of being taken over by some imperial or military power, so Zhenyu made a wish on the ladybug and cat miraculouses to keep the order hidden in exchange for his life. That’s how the miraculouses remained a mystery for so long.
