It's pride month, which means you're legally obligated to read my queer trans graphic novel about a boy who gains the ability to manifest his dreams in real life, including the high school crush who got away, STRANGE BEDFELLOWS!
Bedfellows has been praised for its art, humour, portrayal of mental illness, and of casual queerness in a semi-utopic socialist future. I am told it has made at least 10 people cry.

In 2005, a group of artists in Italy built a giant 200-foot-long plushie rabbit in the countryside, and just left it there. It’s been there ever since.

Keira Knightley: [Matthew MacFadyen] is just such a nice man. I think that helps [when someone is your love interest]. I think that helps when you meet somebody [who will potentially be your cast mate] and you think, "Well, you're just lovely." And is also such an amazing actor. So, what fun. Rosamund Pike: And when he can completely mask the niceness and put it under the arrogance and standoffish-ness that Darcy appears to have. And then [you] melt. Oh, so good. Pride & Prejudice (2005) Dir. Joe Wright Matthew Macfadyen for CBS Mornings (2024) Keira Knightley and Rosamund Pike for Vanity Fair (2025)

I'm so pleased to have done this commemorative illustration of a Dark-eyed Junco pondering a tiny world full of bugs and red clover in celebration of Graham Montgomery's successful Ph.D. defense. His work involves examination of insect declines in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains, and the potential impacts of those declines on birds.
#birds#deju#insects#insects I suspect anonsally might be able to see#I’m not sure if she’s still as arthropod-averse as she used to be#and this illustration is so lovely#I hope she gets to enjoy it

“Just as warmongering as the men” is a pretty high bar. Causality can be tricky, but I think there’s a decent amount of evidence that in the unlikely event everyone in charge was a woman there would be fewer wars. Not none, granted. But hyperbolic extremes, while emotionally satisfying, are more about justifying one’s priors than predicting the future. You’re free to hate the imagined demon and posit alternate demons to make your argument. Meanwhile, women (and men) will go about doing their non-biological-essentialist best to care for the messy world as it is.
You’re not wrong on your deeper point. It just struck me that using a misrepresentation fallacy to criticize a misrepresentation fallacy was ironic.
I hate when people insist there would be no wars if women were in charge, because thats definitely not true. There's currently women in power who are just as warmongering as the men, they just happen to not be the President. To insist that women being primarily in power would suddenly fix everything is Bioessentialism and is incorrect

this was a few weeks ago but convinced @sanzochan to watch Headless and Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Party by telling her the Persaud siblings are currently some of the writers for The Librarians The Next Chapter. I will watch them with her if that's what gets her to do so. (I've also shouted out all these shows on my next newsletter, links included, look Shipwrecked deserve ALL THE VIEWS OKAY.)
(hey, if you haven't seen any of Shipwrecked Comedy's stuff yet? this is your sign to do so.)

people who hate brood parasites and call them cruel and evil I am feeding your socks to the goats. you're weak and you don't deserve the cuckoos or the cowbirds or the whydahs or the dirt beneath my crocs. learn to not assign moral value to animals or their evolutionary strategies and appreciate the sight of a small parent and their much bigger different-species child like God fucking intended
