Hi! I love your blog (and it's the best I know, although it's what-if!). I would like to know if you could do a what-if biography of the four girls??? Or if not, only from Maria, with photographs? THANKS!!!
Hi! I can try, but it will take time.
Thank you for the nice words.

WHAT-IF FOR GRAND DUCHESS MARIA NIKOLAEVNA.
"February, 1947. A dinner was held in honor of Louis Mountbatten, the new Viceroy of India. The dinner was held by the Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and was attended by all the most important members of the congress followed by his wives.  During the dinner, all the people's eyes were constantly upon the wife of the Viceroy, Maria Nikolaevna, that was dressed in a sari, a traditional indian clothe; she was also wearing the New Delhi Tiara, that was a gift of the Indian Prime Minister and was made especially for her. Most of the people of the country were enchanted with the idea of have a beautiful and gentle woman as their new Vicereine, not counting the importance that she would bring to the country being the daughter of a Russian Tsar.  After the dinner, Louis and Maria watched a group of girls dancing an indian traditional dance and Maria danced the waltz: firstly with the Prime Minister and after with her husband. The Viceroy and his Vicereine said goodbye to all after the fireworks."

WHAT-IF FOR GRAND DUCHESS MARIA NIKOLAEVNA.
The First Photo: Maria wearing the Mountbatten Tiara. It was a gift of Maria's husband, Louis Mountbatten, after their wedding. The jewel was made by the french jewelry Chaumet and is made of diamonds set in platinum. In the photo Maria is preparing herself for the coronation of King George VI in 1936.
The Second Photo: A formal picture of Maria after her betrothal to Lord Louis Mountbatten. The couple announced their engagement in the beginning of march, 1919. Louis decided to give to Maria an aquamarine and diamonds ring, since aquamarines are the stone of those who work for the navy (Louis was a sub-liutenant of the Royal Navy at the time of the engagement) and also because it reminds him of Maria's blue eyes. The Emerald tiara, known as Maria's Emerald Tiara, was a gift of her father, the former Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and was by him commissioned to Prada jewelry. A brooch accompanied the tiara.
The Third Photo: Maria wearing the Barberine Sapphire Tiara. The tiara was a gift from Louis to Maria by the occasion of the birth of their fist child Alexander in 1924. Louis bought the tiara during an auction some days after Maria give birth to their son. The tiara was made in 1850 and belonged to the Barberine Family, an italian noble family. It was Maria's favourite tiara. In the picture she is also wearing her engagement ring and a sapphire brooch that belonged to her grandmother, Maria Feodorovna and was a gift from her grandmother to her for her 23th birthday.
The Fourth Photo: Maria in 1947 wearing the New Delhi Tiara. The jewel made by Cartier was a gift to Maria after Louis become Viceroy and Governor-General of India. The gift was given by Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India in the name of all the members of the indian congress and is made of diamonds and pink tourmalines.
The Fifth Photo: Maria in 1932 wearing the Montbatten Star Tiara. It was a gift of her aunt and mother-in-law Princess Victoria of Battenberg. Victoria won the tiara made by the jewelry Chaumet of her aunt the Duchess of Argyll as a consolation after some of her jewels were stoled in Russia during the revolution. When her niece Maria married to her younger son Louis in 1919, Victoria decided to give the jewel to Maria as a wedding gift.
