Bought myself a copy of the Wherewhen Ninja Turtles crossover yesterday. In this group shot of the Mogura Ninja Clan I found four funny things Mr. Sakai hid in the crowd. Sensei must’ve been feeling playful that day❤️

TMNT and Usagi Yojimbo merchandise at San Francisco Comic Con last month. Also my Raph found a Punk Frog! ♥️🐸 I think it might have been Napoleon or maybe Ghengis?🤔🐸🤷🏻‍♀️

Also got to meet the colorist for the comic I bought.

Fan art I did of Tomoe, Chizu and Mariko.

Each flower, kimono pattern, and kimono color have symbolic meaning I associate with each of these ladies.

Mariko: Swallows represent fertility, marital fidelity, and good luck. Yellow is for the sun, good luck and cheerfulness. The plum blossoms (Ume) she’s holding are signs of endurance in adversity and hope.

Chizu: In ancient Japan Ravens were believed to carry the souls of the recently departed and are symbols of the will of the gods/heavenly intervention. Red means power in many forms, passion and when worn by a young woman it’s considered glamorous. She’s holding a Spider Lily which is associated with death, because “…a ninja’s business in life is death.”

Tomoe Ame: Koi fish for courage, perseverance, loyalty and love. Blue symbolizes many things but I choose it for dignity, calmness and stability. The flowers are Chrysanthemum (Kiku) for nobility because she serves a lord, and longevity because she’s done it her whole life, and Cherry blossoms (Sakura) which are symbols of Samurai because they represent the relationship between life and death, beauty and violence. Absolutely perfect for Tomoe.

Ok, I need this for Leosagi. I can totally see Leo suddenly plunging his hand down Usagi’s shirt front in the middle of a battle, his brothers and Usagi’s friends are all like “Dude! Not the time!” but then he pulls out a small throwing knife and takes out the lead bad guy. And half of their loved ones are like, “Oooookaaaay…..” and the other half is like “Relationship goals!” Complete with heart eyes.

Second picture: Yes Kenichi, your boy is growing up fast, kids tend to do that. But hey, you should be very proud at his skill!😊♥️👏

Third picture: Well damn… so many feelings to sort through.😅 First off, I’m glad Mr. Sakai is acknowledging that Step-parents are every bit as important as biological ones. Far too often fiction goes the way of classic fairytales and demonizes them. Such a stupid, tired troop and Kenichi deserves better.

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that Mr. Sakai is a step-father himself now? Mind you, to adult children but still, it counts! There’s still a relationship there and it’s every bit as meaningful as the ones he has with the daughter and son he raised.

In fact we all owe his step-son a big helping of gratitude, he’s in Vietnam right now negotiating deals for an animated series of Miyamoto Usagi. What we all thought Samurai Rabbit was going to be (mind you I enjoyed SR and I love Yuichi, but it was like being told your having Lasagna for dinner and finding a hamburger on your plate when the time comes. Still good, just not what you were expecting).

I managed to meet all four original Ninja Turtle actors while in San Francisco yesterday! And Mr. Rob Paulsen went out of his way to tell my mother she did a great job raising me, ♥️ and Mr. Townsend Coleman was so happy to hear Michelangelo was Ma’s favorite, he went right over to thank her🥰🧡

I almost missed Mr. Can Clarke three times but he’s so devoted to his fans, he made sure I got a conversation, an autograph and my picture.💙

And Mr. Barry Gordon was ticketed pink that I named one of my cats after his character Jacob “Razor” Clawson from SWAT Katz. 💜

I love how the artist has Usagi literally let his ears down. He’s relaxed, he feels at home, you can almost hear his sigh of contentment as the tea is passed to him. Beautiful work!

I was thinking how leo seems always happier with usagi around. but what a treat it must be for usagi, a hired mercenary, to not have to deal with the problems of his world and to just be with someone he trusts and respects so deeply, even if only for a little while

The episode of Flash Forward where Mikey’s obsessed with getting the sequel to a game he loves. In the scene where the games are being delivered to the Mall, just as the cops are getting back into their cruiser, Ma said “Hey look at that, they pulled a Little Mermaid!”

I was like “What Ma? What are you talking about?”

She said “Go back and pause on the emblem on the cruiser door, there’s a dick drawn on it, like the original cover of the Little Mermaid movie.”

I’ll be damned if she wasn’t right lmao!
