5 Campus life hacks and tips
Why enjoy campus life the normal way when you can hack your way through it? Below are some of the weird and fun campus hacks and tips (well not really as some of them could be used as life hack as well!) that you might find it useful 😊
1. Highlight your lecture notes using different coloured pens.
Source: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/380976449713542073/
As much as this might seem irrelevant to you, taking notes with different coloured pens actually helps us to think deeper into the topic by mapping our thought pattern using multiple colours. The use of colour also helps to improve our visual memory by increasing our chances to remember what we have written in lecture classes. But of course, please do not overdo the colouring as you might get carried along while thinking yourself as Picasso😉. Therefore, if you are looking for an effective performance booster, it’s time to technicolour your education!
2. If you have trouble waking up from morning alarm, pop your phone into an empty glass before you go to sleep and leave it at the side of your bed.
Source: https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-most-useful-life-hack-in-studying
It may look silly to you, but tricks like these works! By dropping your mobile devices into an empty glass, it creates an Echo Chamber Effect that boost the alarm sound by few decibels. That way, you won’t miss that dreaded morning alarm and you’ll never be late for class again!
3. Instant cold beverage in dorm
Source: https://lifehacks.stackexchange.com/questions/2107/how-can-i-quickly-cool-a-water-bottle
For students who are renting in a dorm, placing your beloved beverages such as can drinks and bottled beer in the fridge can be a difficult task as most of the time the fridge would be occupied with stuff from other roommates. Therefore, you are forced to put your canned drinks in an open area and by the time you need to drink it, it’s warm already.
Fear not as this campus life hack can save your drinks*. To chill a warm drink in two minutes, simply wrap a few wet paper towel/tissues around the bottle/can and place it in the freezer for a couple of minutes and voila, your problem is solved, and you can now enjoy a chilled drink within a few minutes.
4. When giving a class presentation, tell a friend to ask a particular question before you head to class.
This is one of the campus hacks coming from seniors who spent countless of hours in the campus warfare. To avoid lecturers asking difficult questions that you have no chance in answering it properly, partner up with your friends to have them ask you questions that you’ll already have answers to and it will look like you’ve done some pretty research throughout. Of course, it’s always wiser if you actually do the research.
5. Use Wikipedia to find useful sources
Source: https://www.studyinternational.com/news/26-life-hacks-every-student-should-master/
Many students are confused as they are taught by lecturers to not source their information from Wikipedia as it is not a reputable source of information that contains generalised overview of information. However, this is not the case as Wikipedia is actually an excellent way to find primary sources that are relevant to your topic. Simply head down to bottom of the page and look out for the tab ‘Work cited’ and this is where you can find actual journals, articles and more that will be beneficiary to your topic. Gentle reminder again, DO NOT use Wikipedia overview content for answers, source from credible cited links provided instead.

Tired from studies? Let’s take a break and play fun games!
I’m sure being a typical Asian student, most of us will be spending our time studying in the campus most of the day. It is common to see sights of people stressing out in campus due to excessive studying. Therefore, fun and short breaks are important in between of each study session to release stress and keep your mindset entertained! What’s better to entertain your mind than playing fun games?
If you are looking for longer break sessions, one can indulge themselves into the world of esports by visiting Cove Esports Hub and Thermaltake Café. Both Cove Esports Hub and Thermaltake Café are some of the best cybercafe that one can find around campus area that is within walking distance. It offers a clean and minimalistic environment for passionate gamers to enjoy their gaming session here. A variety of games such as Dota 2, Player Unknown’s Battleground, Counter Strike Global Offensive, Overwatch and Fortnite are offered in both cybercafe to cater to different individuals. Racing simulators are also being offered in Cove Esports Hub with actual racing wheels and pedals to provide gamer a realistic car handling game play that they will never forget.
Source: https://www.thermaltake.com/news/view/index?id=186
If gaming is not for you, students can also switch their studying environment by utilising the chill and comfy workplace area offered by Cove Esports Hub that is located at Level 2. According to the owner of Cove Esports, the workplace allows students to focus and complete their school tasks in a quiet environment after their gaming session. The diversified workplace also offers a fully functional LED TV for students to view their presentations or documents in a larger screen.
Source: https://my.wobbjobs.com/users/companies/cove-esports-sdn-bhd
Asides from esports, students who do not wish to travel to cybercafes can utilise their mobile devices to download fun and entertaining multiplayer games to enjoy it with your friends. Some of the popular leisure games that are played by students within campus are PUBG mobile and Pokemon Go, where one can socialise with their friends by communicating with each other to better strategized in game. If you are looking for an all rounder game, try out PSYCH! PSYCH is a game where each player makes up fake answers to real trivia questions. One can get points for guessing the right answer, and for each other player you PSYCH! into choosing yours. It is a fun game perfect for each occasion.

Other than esports and mobile games, it is also common to see students playing board games in campus in between studies. Not only it can improve your critical thinking skills, board game allows us to get together with our friends to spend quality time together! Depending on your preference, board games can be enjoyed in various difficulty levels.
