Hi im wondering how the life system works in this

Thank you for asking! We discussed this extensively and ultimately settled on a catch-all approach.

They all have a tattoo on their arm that's in a... familiar rectangular shape. This tattoo stops them from walking through the barrier, raises them from the dead when killed, and teleports them to spawn or near their base.

The tattoos' magic is woven into their clothes, but not into other items that weren't on their person when they started, which is how we explain item dropping.

The tattoo's magic fades with each life lost, and on their red life, the tattoo corrupts their mind. It's nothing extreme; just enough to make them want to kill.

The games magic was slightly flawed at the start and improved with each series. Thank you again for the lovely question! I hope we answered it well.

So, turns out this book is going to be VERY long! We're currently on chapter 4 of the second draft, and we're not even done writing episode one. The first draft was only 150 pages, but from the looks of it, that's gonna more than double in the final draft. I hope y'all are down for a longer series! :D

Novel Update: We are currently working on the second draft with Rose taking the lead, adapting the scenes. So I just thought I'd share some of her thoughts since she's busy writing :) Because of the nature of the novel and how we've chosen to write it, many of the scenes need to be "adapted" into more realistic survival scenarios.

For example as a teaser, we have Ren exploring a cave at the start and finding a rabbit crushed under a rock, leaving the foot pristine. Ren is a superstitious man, so he takes the foot for good luck. This was one of Rose's favourite moments to write.

Book Description:

“Bigb wore some simple black slippers with some baggy near-black sweatpants and a woolly blue sweater, the latter of which was oversized and hung over his hands, leaving only the tips of his fingers visible. Just barely peaking underneath of his sweater lay a plain grey t-shirt, and Martyn couldn’t help but wonder if he was getting hot in all that. He had a soft, square face and wide dark brown eyes which complimented his warm, mahogany skin. Bigbs’ hair was pitch black, wound into locs and pulled back into a ponytail, a few spare dreadlocks hanging in front of his face.”

Book description: The other, even shorter man with darker, olive skin and deep brown hair with a dark green section down the middle, wore an oversized brown and beige block sweater. He also wore dark grey jeans and black punky biker boots. His ears were stretched a half-inch with black hoops. That, paired with his nonchalant expression, gave him a faint punk vibe.

Book description: The man looked around, Scott's age or perhaps a year younger. He had short blond hair and wore a simple enough outfit: jeans and a white shirt. The most notable part about him was his red and blue varsity jacket with a “J” patch on the left side. The man looked up and spotted Scott and called out with a light northern London accent, “Hello?”

In the light, he could see Jimmy much better. And he did not mean his dumb grin. Jimmy had these big brown eyes which made his face a little adorable to Scott. He could see flecks of gold in them… Scott caught himself staring and quickly looked away, his face turning faintly pink.

For the few people wondering where Joel, Jimmy, and Bigb are for designs... We're so sorry they're taking longer to come out. This time of year is very busy for all three of us, so we haven't been able to draw them yet. Plus, Joel and Jimmy are more complicated designs because of their skin origins. Book description:

Skizz had a suit vest and dress shirt that had seen far better days, with the white of the shirt being stained with soot and charcoal, torn slightly around the cuffs from apparent work underground. He wore an accompanying pair of beat-up dress pants and shoes, and he’d managed to get his short salt and pepper hair tangled up already. His bright blue eyes shone with excitement at the idea of an adventure.

Book description:

He glances at Etho and quickly flicks his eyes back to examine his face further. He has a scar that drags down through the right side of his face, over his dark blue eye, disappearing beneath a black mask that covers the entire bottom of his face. His hair is bright white, messy and falling just above his shoulders, held back from his eyes by a navy headband. He wore an oversized green winter jacket, the hood lined with fluffy white fur and patches running up and down the sleeves. He had baggy grey pants and thick, buckled boots that didn’t match his shy posture.

Ren was my favorite to draw.

Book description:

He wasn’t particularly fond of the idea, especially with his current outfit. A red polo, suspenders, and baggy blue jeans over worn red sneakers was hardly the type of fit suited for a deep cave exploration. Besides, his sunglasses weren’t invincible, and he wasn’t keen on the idea of breaking them on some deceptively low ceiling.

The redhead shook his hand firmly. They were just barely taller than him, dark freckles speckling their tanned face. She wore a dark blue top that lay off her shoulder and black shorts which hugged her chubby figure. Their legs were covered by knee high zebra-striped socks. Impulse couldn’t decide if Cleo was intimidating or friendly– maybe both.

Impulse has short-cut brown hair, shaved down close behind his ears with dark, muddy grey eyes that had a glint of distrust forming in them already. His black t-shirt boasted a large yellow ‘i’ printed down the middle, and he had muted green cargo shorts and black shoes. He looked down at the shirt and smirked, seemingly aware of the irony about his clothing.

Martyn was also wearing a small white bag on his back, from which he pulled two small shiny rocks.

Dude, you and I are on the same page, honestly. I LOVE Bdubs; he was definitely the design I had the most sway on since he's one of my favourites. (Him and Impulse XD)
