forgot to elaborate on this oops lol. basically benji's drunk and hanging out in some corner of the party (doubtful the imf would organize work parties for their employees so say some techs throw an unsanctioned holiday get-together or something idk) with ethan and ethan's just so.. u know. lovely and charming and laughing at benji's terrible terrible jokes and at some point there's a lull in their conversation and ethan looks at him with that big blinding smile and for a split second his eyes flick down to benji's mouth, almost certainly incidentally, but benji's been just drowning in The Feelings all night and he's way far past the wrong side of tipsy and he goes fuck it and kisses him. and it's awkward and toothy because ethan was still smiling and his hand comes up to brace against benji's chest and benji realizes immediately he's totally misread the situation, backs up like shit sorry i mean. oh god. uh. my mistake i'm properly off it i don't know what i was thinking. uh. and just bails. ethan doesn't bring it up afterwards because he doesn't want to embarrass benji and benji doesn't bring it up because he is Extremely Embarrassed and also hoping it just gets waved off as him doing something silly while absolutely sloshed. also i like to imagine this as sometime post-ghost protocol pre-rogue nation so they're pretty familiar with each other at this point And benji thinks ethan is single (technically true but he also doesn't realize the extent to which ethan is haunted by his alive dead wife) so it's all just.
