This was… risky for Padmé to do. However, one of the Coruscant guards saw her down in the lower parts, and the senator was very grateful for this information. Honestly, there was little time with what happened to Ahsoka. Anakin glazed by it, never wanting to talk about it after that. So, she had the guards look out for her… if she was still on Coruscant.
A hand reached for her own, and pulled her into an alleyway. Soft warm hues looked around, taking off her hood from her cloak. Padmé was glowing in more ways than one. If Anakin knew where she was he would throw such a scene. Still, she was always thankful for him. His actions come out of the goodness of his heart.
“ Ahsoka, it’s so nice to see you again, ” despite the girl’s worry, Padmé couldn’t help but smile, “ You look well. That’s good. I didn’t think you would still be on Coruscant, but it has been only a few months. ”
“ I came here to see you. I was… worried. I hadn’t seen you since, well, you had left. ”
𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐂𝐊 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐃, and Ahsoka couldn't help but mirror Padme's smile. She walked away from the only life she knew without so much as a backward glance, but letting go hadn't proved quite so easy. Her thoughts wandered to the war, the Jedi, her former Master more often than she cared to admit. And Padme.
"I'm sorry I couldn't see you again before...you know," she said, glancing away. "I still can't thank you enough for what you did in the Senate." Every bit of precious time Padme secured for her in the trial was a moment Anakin had to prove her innocence; anyone else, and it might not have been enough. "After I got back to the Temple, everything happened so fast. I...didn't get to say goodbye to anyone, really." Maybe it was for the best. Maybe that would only make things harder. She couldn't say.
"Are you doing okay?" Though the Senate and the Jedi sat only a few miles above them on the surface, the war might as well have been a thousand lightyears away for all the citizens of the undercity gave it heed. Each day went on more or less the same, in spite of the Republic's efforts across the Galaxy. "I don't get as much news down here, to tell you the truth."

𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐒 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 before the truth came out. The Force had a way of making itself known, and far be it from her to thwart it. "Ellie..." she began, breathing a soft sigh of defeat. Ahsoka already knew from the Rebel's intelligence why they ferried the girl from world to world, always one step ahead of the Inquisitors' forces; even if she hadn't, she could sense her budding powers, like the embers of a roaring fire not yet lit. A fire she could not afford to light, when she could not be there to tend it.
"I'm sorry. That I didn't tell you." Couldn't tell her, until there remained no choice. "It's not that it wasn't important." Ahsoka understood, that longing for connection. Maybe even more so, having lost it herself all those years ago. They weren't meant to be alone when their very abilities opened up connection to every spark of life the Galaxy had to offer — a bond that went both ways. "But opening yourself up to the Force can leave you...vulnerable."
"The more you reach for it, the more it reaches for you." Balance, in all things. And that spark that read as her presence in the Force would only grow brighter. There would come a point where even the Rebellion couldn't hide her from the Empire. "You would need proper training. A real Master."
"I can't be that for you right now." Maybe ever, though she thought better than to say so. "Keeping a low profile was your best option."
running around the galaxy was tiring. it was a bit surreal to think sometimes about how far she’d come. about how she’d come from some random moon in the outer rim, and now? she felt like she’d been on the run for a lifetime, depending on people from the rebellion to help her. most of the time, things went as smoothly as she could possibly imagine. she kept her head low, kept herself away from any kind of conflict. except this time? it seemed like it wasn’t quite that simple. ahsoka and her had done a decent job of staying out of trouble, but even they weren’t invincible.
ellie had always wondered about what was dormant within her. she’d felt things building every day, and yet she’d never been able to understand any of it. until now, maybe. “ ——— you’ve been hiding that from me the entire time i’ve been with you? ” granted, she really didn’t have to know anything about ahsoka. it wasn’t ellie’s place to question her, to pry into her life. in reality, ahsoka was simply stringing her along on this journey.
“ they had to have told you something about me. about who i was. why you were …” a frustrated sigh, her looking off to the side before continuing, “… dragging me around like a lost puppy. and you didn’t think it was important to tell me that i finally met someone who’s like me? ” maybe it was all of the curiosity within her that had built over the years, or the frustration of never having answers to any of her questions since the day she was born. but her slight outburst felt like years of her frustrations building up to this moment. / @lightwanders sc

"You sound more and more like Master Skywalker each day.” A light laugh emitting as she shook her head. Though, it did sound like a good idea. The assembly wasn’t meeting until much later in the day, she had finished preparing her speech and was confident enough at this point that she wouldn’t need to rehearse it as often as she had to in the past - why shouldn’t she sneak away to spend some time with one of her closest friends OUTSIDE of the restrictions of their respective duties in Coruscant? With the confirmation of the Council’s VAGUE instructions to the padawan, it would be easier to dismiss any consequence they would throw her way.
“Did you have anything in mind?”
𝐃𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐋 𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆, her master always told her, how they went about it was another. Sometimes a mission required the use of their own judgement — that's what made them superior to droids, after all. But sometimes, it just meant a little extra fun.
"...Well, there's the Inlustri station," she ventured, after a moment's thought. A civilian station still untouched by the war, thanks in part to its close proximity to Coruscant. They could be there and back in an afternoon, and still have time to enjoy all that it had to offer.
"I've only been once, for a special outreach program the Jedi did when I was a youngling." Back when they had the time and resources to devote to such things. Even Master Yoda participated, joining the other Masters in a display of advance lightsaber forms. She could still hear the delighted gasps. "I remember they had things from all over the Republic, though."

What’s Your Role In The Found Family Dynamic?
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐏𝐒. at first, you were a resource for the established characters to turn to, but you quickly began to steal the show due to your personality, your usefulness, or your inherently interesting perspective on life. you were pretty much already able to provide for yourself, but the next thing you know, these people are growing on you. instead of asking favors, it becomes an invitation to socialize. you find yourself sticking around for no apparent reason other than you like it here. the people are fun to watch, if nothing else, but ultimately they're just--oh no. oh no, you care about them. you always thought you stayed away from this "relationship" stuff for a reason. it gets messy and isn't worth it unless it really works. for some reason, this group really works. these weirdos are now your weirdos, and if anything happens to them, there will be hell to pay. you were basically already looking after them before this, after all. welcome to the family, hermit.

"𝐘𝐄𝐒, 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒." Though her head remained bowed in respectable acknowledgement to the Queen, there was no hiding the young Padawan's grin. The Jedi's teachings stressed humility, but if you asked her, it was just as foolish to underestimate as overestimate oneself — and no one could no deny her powers were growing by leaps and bounds, day after day.
"Weeell it's been a while since I sparred at the Temple," she said, if only to avoid outright agreement. "It doesn't hurt that I get more field experience than most." At that she allowed her gaze to wander for the first time, her eyes finding art wherever they looked. Hard to imagine they were the place of an invasion, not that long ago.
"I'm looking forward to seeing Naboo. My Master speaks very highly of your world."
‘ you are skywalker’s young padawan, are you not? ’ a small smile tempted the queen’s lips as she greeted the young togruta. symphony didn’t meet as many jedi knights as one might think a monarch should be meeting with, or at the very least, not as many jedi as she admittedly wanted to meet. they FASCINATED her, especially the little ones. displays of incredible bravery and selflessness you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
‘ i bet you run circles around the older ones, don’t you? ’

She was alive. She was exhausted, but she was alive. Of course, Ahsoka was too, but that didn’t always mean she was alright. Barriss held her dear, for they did have their moments together. Bonded over the fact of being a Padawan, stuck in the middle of a war, and the fact they almost died once too. They clicked, and that settled with Barriss. It was relief to have someone who could relate to her, to keep her…grounded?
The Padawan knew that this could be a situation, the way she slowly started to latch on to her…
Her eyes shifted down to look at her hands. There was a tug of guilt in her throat, sucking out any sort of moisture. Barriss remembered her pleas, telling her to do the right thing…ending her life would have been the better way. Well, so she thought. Now that she was alive, she was more than grateful. Barriss didn’t know if what she said, or what Ahsoka did, was the right way. This was where the teachings get so lost and confusing to her.
“ Don’t worry about it… ” her brows furrowed as she concentrated on her own speech, “ I don’t-….I mean… ” she looked back at Ahsoka, expression warmed, “ It’s all in the past. We shouldn’t worry about it. ”
"𝐈 𝐆𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔'𝐑𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓." Dwelling on the past could be as detrimental as dwelling on the future. Focus on the here and now, she heard her Master say. Only, the here and now was Barris, and she still didn't look so good. Ahsoka squinted to the machines hooked up to her fellow Padawan, and while she couldn't read any of the complicated measurements, nothing seemed amiss. They weren't sounding any alarms, anyway. She took that as a good sign.
"The most important thing to do now is get some rest." It would be back to business before they knew it; in fact, their Masters were already there, waiting. The War wasn't going to stop just because a few creepy worms tried to crawl into their brains. Drawing her hands back into her lap, she smoothed her fingers over her skirt, hesitating to stand.
"Do you, uh — want me to stay...?" It seemed like the polite thing to do. Offering, that is. Did she want to stay? Ahsoka thought she might. Since becoming Padawan, time spent with people her own age came few and far in between. It felt...nice, to call someone a friend again. Nearly dying next to her ( twice, in the span of as many days ) really put things into perspective. She offered Barriss a nervous smile. "If not, that's alright. I can go find Master Skywalker or something.”
“I just thought, maybe you'd like some company."

@lightwanders
Kaeden’s twelve hour shift in the medbay was almost over when the bomb went off. She didn’t know the details (it wasn’t her job to know those details when there were lives to save), but she knew it was bad when people began to carry in the injured and the dying in one unending wave. Person after person after person was wheeled into her operating theatre. Her nurses triaged everyone the best they could, but there had been many casualties, and Doctor Larte could only do her best to save the lives of those most grievously injured. Some would be scarred for the rest of their lives. Some would lose limbs. Some bled out despite her best efforts.
She’d thought her loved ones safe until an orange-skinned togruta was transferred to her operating table. To her credit, the only sign of shock Kaeden let herself show was a slight widening of eyes before her hands immediately fell into a familiar, steady rhythmn. Shrapnel was removed, wounds were cleaned, bones were set, and then Ahsoka was being wheeled away and replaced by yet another poor injured soul. Person after person after person. She stitched and cauterized and staved off death for dozens without pausing or hesitating.
Only when the worst of it was over and all the critically injured had been treated did she begin to falter, and her head nurse relieved her from duty. ‘Go sleep,’ he’d told her, ‘You’ve done enough.’ Kaeden promptly collapsed into the chair beside Ahsoka’s bed, and slept. And slept. And slept. She kept sleeping until a raw, croaking voice whispered her name, and finally her head rose up from where it had been pillowed on her arms.
“’Sohka,” she mumbled, voice rough with sleep, but she quickly sobered up. She sat up straight and immediately her back and neck lodged their vehement complaints. “-It’s okay. You’re in medbay. You were caught in an explosion.” Her voice became soft and solemn then. “How are you feeling? They say… they say it would have been a lot worse, if you hadn’t been there to contain the blast. We would have lost that entire wing and most of our fighters.”
𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐊, 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐂𝐓. An instinct that left her called reckless more than once, but Ahsoka trusted in the Force, allowed it to guide her. Even a moment's hesitation would have cost them lives today. Perhaps her own.
"You know me. Always happy to help." A smile — then a wince. The ringing in her montrals ebbed and flowed, settling into a dull ache at either temple. "I've been better. But something tells me I'd be a lot worse, too, if you hadn't been here." Blinking through the fog, her eyes took in Kaeden's uniform, worn by every medic that tended to the Rebellion's wounded. She knew Kaeden and Miara both found their way into their ranks. Miara, so awed by the B-Wings that ensured their escape from Raada, could only be satisfied in joining them. She'd been less sure where the eldest Larte would hone her skills; all Ahsoka knew for certain was that she couldn't compromise her identity, her position as Fulcrum, for either of them. Especially Kaeden.
Jedi hang-ups. That's what she called them. In the middle of their makeshift insurrection, there hadn't been time to explain the finer details of the Jedi's views on attachment, what it all meant, or if it even still applied in a galaxy without the Order. Those years could give her no better lesson in letting go ( indeed, she hardly had anything left to lose ). Maybe that's why, when the transmission of Kaeden in the Inquisition's custody made its way to her hands, she had no choice but to act. Ahsoka couldn't guarantee she wouldn't do the same thing again, even now — even to the detriment of the Rebellion. Better to keep her distance, and let their paths take them where they may.
Leave it to the Force to bring them to bear again.
Bit by bit clarity returned, her eyes sweeping over fresh details. Kaeden's rumpled coat, a little bit of drool at the corner of her lip, and despite her own exhaustion, she smiled. "Did you fall asleep in here...?"
