having anti punitive justice morals sucks because you want to say "man that guy sucks he should get hit with hammers until he dies" but you also want to make it clear you don't think anyone should be put in charge of the 'hit people with hammers until they die" machine.

happy juneteenth but dont forget that prisoners are legally allowed to be subject to slave labor and also black people are disproportionately arrested and subjected to that legality. happy juneteenth but slavery still lives in america. america is still dependant on slave labor.

I remember back in my compulsory education they taught us to use the keyboard like this but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single person type like this ever.
#92 wpm :)#also at first glance at the image I was like ‘wtf’ but I think that is actually how I type? I just don’t think about it much#and I don’t remember ever getting explicitly trained in what fingers to use but I checked and it seems like they all match#poll

it's just insane to me how each decision the player makes in pentiment (whether big or small, minor dialogue or major action) has the chance to reverberate across decades within the lives of the townsfolk, but... ultimately none of them can change how andreas' life itself pans out.
yes, he has the autonomy to massively change the trajectory of several generations of lives in tassing. but never his own. he will always marry sabine, lose august, try to kill himself in the fire, haunt the ruins, and resettle in tassing. and there's something so significant in this idea that we can't change our own fate but do have a massive influence over the lives of many other people, whether we mean to or not. whether our intentions are good or not

the framing of generative ai as "theft" in popular discourse has really set us back so far like not only should we not consider copyright infringement theft we shouldn't even consider generative ai copyright infringement
#oh good lord the notes#this post is not even making an argument for whether generative ai is good or bad! it’s just saying it isn’t theft!!#there are plenty of valid critiques to make about it but this reactionary ‘it’s theft!’ stuff ain’t it
