‘  i  already  prepared  some  flower  arrangements  for  you,  ’  hyejin  spoke  from  her  spot  behind  the  counter  ,  moving  towards  the  two  vases  she  previously  put  together.  knowing  how  bora  wanted  purple  flowers  ,  she’d  tried  her  hardest  to  create  something  that  would  fit  her  aesthetic.  ‘  the  first  bouquet  is  made  out  of  lavender  &  white  lilies  ,  it  looks  beautiful  &  it  smells  even  nicer.  the  second  bouquet  ,  on  the  other  hand  ,  is  made  out  of  lavender  carnations  &  pink  colored  alstroemeria.  it’s  my  personal  favorite  ,  but  obviously  you  can  decide  which  one  you’d  like  to  take  home.  ’

                  bora knew she could never go wrong with flowers. especially not when she lives with a guy who sleeps on a floor mattress for a bed, eats spaghetti on a daily basis and has an emo aesthetic... you could just imagine the difference between their vibes. and bora always did her best to make the place look livable and pretty. she looked between the flowers hyejin had prepared, a stoic expression on her face after what she had seen in the group chat. “hmm,” she twisted her lips in thought. “i would never put pink and purple so close together.” bora spoke, and looked at the other girl. “they’re not bad, though.”

“can you please keep it down?” min whispered, frustration colouring his tone as he glanced up from his book and over to the girl stood beside him.

                 bora looked up from what she was doing, her smile disappearing as she looked up from her phone and at hyunmin. she was definitely distracted by her twitter timeline while on the job. “... you talkin’ to me?”

bora’s presence in the diner was always a blessing, because every time she strolled in with an air of confidence and poise, yooseung knew he was going to be able to get out of work early. it was a simple bribe from yooseung the evening before that convinced her to help him excuse himself for a ‘family emergency’. it had been an impromptu decision, unlike the many other times they had carefully planned their stunts, so yooseung doesn’t know what he’ll be tending to. the excitement he had masked all morning eventually burst into a desire to be as authentic as possible once the film clapper snaps and it’s time for action, so when he hears a very shrill scream, he instantly switches into the fiercely protective older brother role.

 “bora? bora!?” he shrieks, pushing through one of his coworkers who had called for him, looking as panicked as he was. he runs to her seat, gasping in distress once he sees the bleeding mess. “oh my god!” he wails, gingerly taking bora’s hand. though he is surprised at the prop, he wastes no time guiding her out of the booth, as if she were incapable of moving by herself. “fuck, shit—we have to go, i’m fucking driving you to the hospital.”

                  bora got up from the booth, never breaking character as yooseung guided her. “fuck, fuck, fuck, fuuuck!” she kept repeating, not afraid to add in more freaked out screaming. the dark haired girl was very aware of the entire diner staring at the siblings at the moment. “get my bag, get my back!” she pointed a finger at her backpack on the booth seat, bouncing between her two feet like she was truly in pain. “hurry up, hurry uuuup!” that came out in another high pitched scream as she ran towards the door to leave, and knowing that they were still being watched, she didn’t stop her act until they got in the car. she even saw the manager running after them to conveniently give yooseung his bag from the back room, telling them to drive safely. “well, that was easy.” bora laughed once they drop away, and released her very-uninjured hand to grab some wipes from her backpack. “i can’t believe they really fell for it.”

     trailing behind bora with an empty plate, yooseung idly scanned through the array of pastries and breakfast food. he doesn’t feel like eating—not yet, at least, not until his stomach starts cooperating with him again. “i took a shower before coming,” he says pointedly, eyeing the open bar in interest. what was more interesting, however, was the very reason yooseung decided to pull his ass out of bed. bora doesn’t look like she’s ready to talk about it yet, so he stalls for time. “i still feel a bit queasy. i think i’m gonna have to fight my hangover with more alcohol.”

                 bora had a confused look on her face. she wasn’t a big drinker, so the whole hangover thing was a wild idea to her. “... how is that helpful? won’t you just get a bigger headache?” she asked, genuinely curious. “you really need to get something to eat, if you’re planning to drink so early in the morning. i don’t think it’s a good idea to be drinking on an empty stomach.”

                 “what took you so long?” bora spoke the moment her brother approached her, sighing as she took one more croissant from the brunch buffet. “you want anything? they’ve got some good shit for hangovers.” she took a bite and put it down on her plate, before proceeding to pile on more appetizing looking things. bora might’ve been avoiding the so-called important topic she was saying she has to tell him... just a little bit. maybe even just ignoring it for now. she knew she had to speak at some point.

eugene blinks. stares. blinks again. it takes him a minute to register what bora admitted to, feeling a mixture of hurt and confusion. hurt because he’d been lied to by his friend, and confusion because bora could’ve just kept up with it. he musters out a soft and awkward “oh,” before scratching the back of his neck with a hesitant smile. “it’s… fine. i know how exhausting arranging books can be, especially after class.” 

                  there was a long moment of silence, and bora hated every single fucking second of it. she was usually fine lying, and even being caught. in fact, she would be proud of herself or just keep the lie going. although something about how sweet and nice eugene was that made her feel guilty for it. maybe it was her soft spot for shyer people. “i’m sorry.” she apologized, which was something she wouldn’t normally drop her pride for. “no, no... eugene, this is my job too and i took advantage of how nice you are, and you don’t deserve that. i’m sorry.”
