My ball python would wait for me to get home all the time. When I left for college, she’d only peek her head out when I’d come home for weekends. Then one day, she’d only peek snapped at my abusive mom. She’d never snapped at ANYONE before but the second my mom tried to pick her up, she tried to bite her.

She’s living with my friend now until I can get my own place, and whenever I visit she comes right out of her little cave

Also she likes anime. Like literally refuses to watch anything else? Live action? Not paying attention. Other animation? Not paying attention. Anime of any kind? Eyes glued to the screen until it’s paused or turned off. She’s been like that since she fit in my palm, I have no idea why

Anyway, this is her, ignore how small the cave is, she has a bigger one in there too, she just likes going in the one from when she was a baby and idk why

OK so I know scientifically snakes don't have the emotional intelligence to feel affection right

however

in my heart of hearts I feel like. they can still have affection. if they learn to trust you, is that not a form of affection?

sure they act in ways which would be affection by human standards but are really just survival instincts, I get the science and all but like... I really feel like snakes can *feel* yknow

ik I just have a broad idea of 'affection' but to me a snake enjoying my company, even if its just for my body heat or food or whatever...I feel like that *is* affection of some kind
