Christmas Lights

Summary: Every year Mr. Gold hangs Christmas lights in the hopes they’ll guide her home to him. 

Notes: Just some Christmas angst for you. Don’t read it. It’s sad and it made me feel sad. Inspired by recent canon.

He wasn’t sure why he still did it. She liked them, he guessed, and he would always do anything to make her happy, even now.

He knew the town thought he was crazy. Old Mr. Gold out here on a rickety ladder hanging Christmas lights on his house. Most were probably hoping he’d take a fall, that the ladder would give way beneath him and he’d plunge to his death and maybe they’d never have to pay their rent again. He’d never been the most popular man in town and that had only gotten worse since she left. People had tolerated him for Belle’s sake. Without her, they didn’t have to pretend anymore that he wasn’t the odious creature he is. He supposed, on days he was given to self-reflection, that he didn’t make it easy. He’d never been an easy man to like. Only one person had ever tried to get past the rough exterior. She’d come in and lit up his whole life and for a shiningly beautiful period of time, he had been truly happy.

Back then Christmases were spent with her, curled up on the couch watching the snow drift down silently past the windows. She’d always make hot toddies, put on that old Bing Crosby album and hum along, slightly off tune, to “White Christmas”. It was the most beautiful sound in the world to him and if he closed his eyes and shut out the world around him, he could still hear it, as though she were still there in his arms.

FUCKING THIS!!!!!!! Thank you Raven for saying it. Couldn't agree more. As for you Betsy, please stop. This isn't meant to come off as rude and I'm sorry if it does, but you constantly do this and it's very aggravating. I get being worried about Rumbelle's story and wanting to see every lil thing......but to constantly post negativity in the spoilers tag and write your view on what happened in the ep when what you described didn't even come close to transpiring...it's getting old really quickly. And quite frankly it's quite hurtful as well. I don't appreciate going into the spoilers tag and seeing that. Even if I have watched the ep. That's not fair to me, that's not fair to Raven, and it's certainly not fair to the Rumbelle fandom. Please stop with the negativity and trying to be the voice that speaks for the fandom.....even if you don't think you are or even mean to. And please for the love of iced tea and hamburgers......watch the episodes.

So Rumple just gave up on Belle and lived with Alice for a decade ? If not that, then what - he seriously couldn’t find the Guardian for a decade ? What exactly was he doing all that time? That’s ridiculous - but a better option than the first. As a Rumbeller and Belle fan, I feel like I just got kicked in the teeth. Also, now all he cares about is finding a group of witches -his quest to return to Belle is over, or at least on the back seat.

Adam and Eddy just gave an FU to Rumbellers - and to Belle fans. It’s obvious now to me that they don’t give a crap about Belle or Emilie…l

Are you surprised that Emilie has not been invited to any cons for 2018? It can't be that she's no longer on the show, but I'm really shocked that she hasn't been invited back to Paris (she was very popular last year, I was there) and she's got nothing going on with Creation cons. I miss her, and I'm disappointed that they con organizers don't seem to want her anymore

1) I am certain they haven’t finalized guest rosters for every con next year.

2) I have no insight into what decisions they make contracting guests.

3) I think you have to be completely unaware of how conventions work if you think this is about Emilie not being on the show anymore. Organizers routinely invite actors who have only done one or two episodes and who will likely never appear again.

Please stop coming to me pushing this idea that everyone is out to get Emilie. Emilie has been working consistently for almost twenty years and has a reputation for being wonderful to work with. There is no reason to believe that she’s being slighted by anyone.

Can we romanticize video games the way we do books?

Like you hear all these things about how you can curl up with a book on a rainy day and drink tea and smother yourself in blankets but anytime you hear things about video games it’s always about how you’re wasting your life away yelling into a headset as you play Call of Duty in a basement?

Imagine bundling yourself up on the couch, the sound of rain hitting the roof, and putting on Fable for a few hours. Or getting home after a long day of work. You make yourself a cup of cocoa, put on fuzzy pjs, and play Viva Piñata for hours not giving a second thought to the outside world. Semester just got out? Throw on some Fallout and just take a night to breathe and enjoy.

You aren’t wasting your life away, you’re enjoying it. Games can be just as much an escape as books, except you get to be part of the story.
