[Theory] Susie is not a hero of the Deltarune, but Kris, Noelle, Ralsei and Dess are
Here is how the prophesy relates to the characters one by one:
1. The first hero. The cage with human soul and parts (Kris, who contains us, the red soul)
2. The second hero. Girl with hope crossed on her heart (Noelle, whose weird route item Thorn Ring forms a sword depicted in the prophesy + the silhouette looks like her + if memory servers me right, Susie will refuse to equip any sword throughout the game)
3. The third hero. Alone in the deepest dark (Ralsei)
4. And last, was the girl; at last, was the girl (I think this is Dess)
Why Dess?
1. Most of the prophesy is written in the present tense, so the fact that the girl “was” and not is implies that she might no longer be with us (or maybe we are continuing her work in some way, hence why Ralsei’s retelling of the prophesy only has three heroes).
2. “At last” seems like a deliberate phrase. By it’s definition “If you say that something has happened at last, you mean it has happened after you have been hoping for it for a long time.” After all the intrigue around the disappearance of Dess, her reveal would be long awaited.
3. The prophesy characterises everyone but the last person, the most focus is put on the fact that they WERE. If it was Susie wouldn’t there be something more personal to tell (rude girl, changed girl etc) + that phrasing would make the Dess is the fourth person in the prophesy more accessible for people who play the game casually (without looking into the code or without watching theories, as the disappearance of Dess is the most accessible piece of lore about her)
4. What about the rudebuster symbol? It is a symbol in Susie’s Act menu, sure, but that’s not how her attack looks (it looks more triangular in shape) and the symble might instead be indicative of any projectile attack (like how tasque’s attack is actually similar in shape)
What is Susie then?
1. She is “the dragon”. During the fight with Gerson he talks about “Lord of the Hammer”, a book based on the prophesy. Ch1 according to him is “the heroes defeat the king and stop the dragon”. During the ch1 of Deltarune you try to minimize Susie’s damage as you teach her how to act + there are no other dragon-like characters. Maybe she is the one who, despite not being included in the prophesy, will be a catalyst for a different ending (as indicated in the dialogue continuation in that battle)
