✨ Search Term Ideas for Whimsigothic Clothing on Vinted, Depop, etc. 🔮
Named aesthetics can be useful when searching for blogs and fashion inspo, and lately drawing style inspiration from whimsigothic tumblr has been just so fun for me. I especially love how well this style lends itself to shopping secondhand. But searching directly for any specific “aesthetic” online, especially on depop, results in finding items that are mislabelled, overpriced or dropshipped. On vinted, items tend to be priced more fairly than depop IMO, but the user base skews a bit older so people are less likely to list items using hyperspecific internet terms. So here’s a list of some more general keywords I use for hidden gems instead:
Patchwork, beaded, or embroidered + bags, dresses, shawls, boleros or vests
Handkerchief/hankie hem!
It took me a while to find the specific word for those long skirts that have bands and look layered: they’re “tiered”
Arm warmers, knit shrugs or “ultra cropped” are all useful to search for those fun knits that only cover the arms (and these can easily be bought handmade to support a small business!)
Bell sleeve
“Dark floral” or “Celestial” + item of clothing
Also sun, moon, star pattern (this can sometimes return lots of 2014 era Galaxy leggings though unless you narrow the clothing type lol)
Boho or hippie, then filter by darker colours
Obvious one, but velvet in whatever colour and item you’re looking for
“Witchy” is sometimes useful but sometimes will return expensive items from specialty gothic clothing stores
Brands I see come up often (I’m based in the UK) - monsoon or wallis for beaded things, indigo moon for patchwork, older M&S has a lot of quality velvet things
Feel free to add to this! I have no idea if anyone will find this useful :)
