The Mosin Nagant Cummings Dot Rifle,
One of the many fates of the hundreds of thousands of American made Mosin Nagant rifles during World War I, many were special training rifles used to teach new recruits in the basics of marksmanship and riflery. The Cummings Dot Rifle was one such contraption.
Built from Remington and Westinghouse surplus Mosin Nagants, the Cumming Dot Rifle featured a special device used for basic dry fire training. The purpose of this device was to train new recruits the elementary basics of rifle firing without wasting ammunition. The device would train the user how to line up the sights properly, indicated if the user was flinching, pulling the trigger to hard, too lightly, etc. It also helped train the user to adjust for windage and range.
