I was crying and struggling to breathe properly while listening to the whole scene but it didn’t completely and entirely hit me until the sound of Hua Cheng crying and then his scream at the end. That’s when the full weight of the devastation set in.

And god just. Hearing the sound of the sword over and over and over and over and over and over again. I swear I flinched and clenched my eyes shut every single time, I could not control or stop it.

Those flashbacks in the midst of it all also hit me hard. The contrast of Xie Lian screaming and struggling to breath and begging for help, against the flashbacks of him calmly answering questions from the ghost on the bridge—the place where his godhood all began, the godhood that was currently being used by others in the worst imaginable way.

The part when someone took the first stab and everything gets quiet save for the high pitched ringing—that part stuck out to me as well. That, to me, was the moment where there’s just that pure shock and horror and the realization fully sets in that…this is happening. This is really fucking happening. I think they really translated that experience to audio perfectly.

It’s been months but I’m still thinking about this tweet that said out off every character from Xianle that we meet Hua Cheng is the most representative of their love for the arts, for riches and beauty.

Like truly he in many ways comes to personify Xianle in a way, both in the high society luxurious culture that Xianle was famous for but also he’s the orphan from the four famous tales making him the representation of Xie Lians care for the common people. Like he is both the lowest of the low and someone who’s kept the Xianle ways alive.

Like all my brain is thinking of is how Xie Lian distanced himself from all that to cultivate, then to become a God, then a poor peasant and how homesick he’s been his whole life.

Only for his husband who was a poor peasant, then a solder, then a king who represents everything Xianle stood for and how their stories are going backwards and forwards and how Xianle is gone but how Hua Cheng embody all of Xianles culture from the poor to the rich ans and how he feels like home to Xie Lian now.

guess who just got randomly emotional over Xie Lian and his story.

All those hardships, all the pain, the torment, everything, the world threw everything it had at this man.

He broke once.

And all it took was the kindness of one human to bring him back from the darkness.

He had this traumatic event, of being stabbed and sliced over and over and over, of being reduced to some inhuman... Blob of flesh not even able to scream.

And he offered his body to an entire city that they wouldn't suffer his mistake.

I'm just... really emotional over him, okay?

Bro I fucking love the DB Cooper case nothing about this whole situation sounds real. None of the passengers on the plane realized they were being hijacked until the plane landed two hours after it was supposed to and the fbi showed up with suitcases full of money. The note about the bomb almost went unnoticed because the flight attendant thought she was being sexually harassed so she didn't read it. One of the main suspects was the first trans woman in Washington to have a sex change operation. A reporter who was so dead set on his suspect that he brought him to court was so upset about being wrong that he went catatonic and was treated with electroshock therapy and it WORKED. There's been multiple "I'm DB Cooper" death confessions. He never even SAID his name was DB Cooper. Either he got away with a million bucks in today's money and the most iconic and harmless crime American history or he impaled himself on a pine tree while falling a zillion miles an hour in the dark while clutching duffel bags full of cash and either option is equally hilarious. He wore a clip on tie. He committed an act of sky piracy. What in the fucking looney toons
