Me too. I give good morning and night, and try to literally just talk to them every day. I ask for protection when I leave my home, and I give thanks when I arrive safe.
If you're in a time of need or desperate situation, I think it's okay to pray. No matter how clean or pristine you are.
The gods will understand.
If you want to pray, just pray.

May the Gods be our first priority and not our last resort.
Pray in good times and bad.

I have to remind myself: things aren't out of control, I'm just overstimulated. When I'm overstimulated I feel out of control, I need to breathe and this will pass.

I loved this SO SO much
The Norse view of death is facinating actually, because the more I look at it, it seems like they believed a person's afterlife reflected the dimension of life they were experiencing when they died.
The average person was thought to return to their ancestors because they'd be doing family things in life, and they would die around the home and be buried in the family grave.
Criminals went to Niðhogg because they were dwelling in a personal environment of malice, discord, and crime, which would lead them to a death on the gallows. The visual of the snakes eating them was both allegorical but also literal.
Warriors went to Valhalla because they were experiencing war and died in the environment of war, killed far from home where they could not be buried with family.
Sailors who died at sea went to the sea-god Njord, as their death was surrounded by the waves and their grave was the depths of the ocean.
So it's not like if you died in battle you would be experiencing battle forever in your afterlife, but more like you would go to "the realm of battle" which belongs to Odin, and since Odin is family he wouldn't leave you lost and wandering in that dimension.
Idk I'm just spitballing this. What are y'all's thoughts?

Aphrodite Is You, and You are Her.
If a goddess can be Unholy, Killer of Men, the Dark One, the Gravedigger, but also The Heavenly, The Golden. The Mother, so can you.
She who was considered perfection, although she embodied violence, unholiness, sin, and bloodshed.
She who was adored and worshipped, she who was chained in Sparta for her skill in battle.
She is the Mother of Love, of Grace and of Harmony.
She is the Mother of Fear, of Panic, of Desire, and Revenge of the Scorned.
She is the lover of war, sister to Chaos and Destruction.
She is a goddess who brings life through love, and death through passion. She is the goddess who protects women, who kills the ones who have scorned Her.
She carries with her the love that drives men to insanity, and the passion that drives artists to create.
She is a punisher, a killer, a warrior. She is a wife, a mother, a goddess. She is Aphrodite of War, and Aphrodite the Heavenly.
She is of the ocean that cleanses, of the ocean that destroys cities and civilizations.
She is the one who will punish those who have scorned you, and she will drip with blood and pearls and gold.
She may be the goddess of love and romance, but do not forget she is sister to Chaos and Destruction, sister to the Furies, lover of War and mother of Fear and Panic.
She is beautiful, she is Heavenly. She is mutilated, and she is Unholy. She can be made of sunlight and flowers, and blood and bones. She is not always beautiful, because sometimes love and passion are ugly and twisted things.
She is holy and a sinner. She is perfection, and she is beloved.
She is Aphrodite the Dark One. Aphrodite the Mother. She is you, and you are her, because you both have holiness, have sin, have love.
Embody not only the pure, sacred, Aphrodite the Golden, Aphrodite the Heavenly, Aphrodite of The Gardens: but also the bloody, sinful, Aphrodite Killer of Men, Aphrodite the Gravedigger, and Aphrodite the Unholy, the Aphrodite that Greece tried to erase, the Aphrodite that was remembered even today because people do not forget the gods that they carry with them.
She will walk with you, and she will share your sins and your accomplishments, and then she will lay you down into your grave with a kiss.
No matter your looks or religion or your birth, the holiness inside you is not simply purity and lack of sin. It is purity and blood and violence and sin and everything that makes you human. That is Perfection, and Perfection is you. That is the message of Our Holy Aphrodite.

me, praying: “let your deadly arrows strike the evildoers and tormenters in this world, as you have done so valiantly before. vanquisher of evil, shine light on us mortals, and free us from oppressive forces, remind us how you got your epithets!”
Apollon: “… you’ve gotta stop asking me to kill politicians”
me: “please just one arrow you know exactly where to aim it”

💀Beginner Death Witchcraft 💀
Here are some simple ideas to get your feet wet in areas of death witchcraft. This isn’t intended to be a Death Witchcraft 101 list, but more for general persons who are interested to incorporate some simple exploration.
Grave-tending or exploration: find a nearby graveyard and walk it, respectfully looking at the tombstones and picking up debris or clearing weeds. You can include offerings if it strikes you, but the acknowledgement of the cemetery itself and cleaning of it is truly an offering in itself.
Create an ancestor/relatives shrine: in this day and age I know many don’t necessarily have a bunch of deceased relatives they’re comfortable with inviting communication with. Feel free to choose ancestors that resonate with you by researching their life. Personal heroes, local heroes, and heroes of a cause personal to you are particularly good ones to go for. Create a simple space for them with items or pictures that make you think of them. You can also include things you associate with the cycle of life and death (animal and plant remains, statues or figurines relating to death, skull and afterlife art, etc.) You can either try to hone your spirit communication by communicating directly with the ancestors of the shrine, or if that is uncomfortable; just leave offerings and letters without opening yourself to spirits directly. Either is perfectly acceptable for death witchcraft- spirit working is not a prerequisite.
Volunteer for or research death related industries: hospice, hospitals, assisted living, death doulas, morticians, forensic sciences, end of life planning, etc. Confronting death in a direct way like this is important to being sincere in your exploration of death and related practice.
Preserve and dry your own herbs and plants: a simple way to experience decay and death in your own home and also something useful in your practice in other ways. Be aware of any danger to pets and children; don’t place toxic plants in their reach while they are drying. Store in jars or sealed containers once completely dried. Mark with their jarred date so you can know when they’ve expired (especially if for internal or topical uses).
Crafts relating to afterlife: crafts made of bones and remains, photography of abandoned or decaying locations, paintings of afterlife related images, headstone rubbings or memento mori journals, stories and poetry relating to death and the beyond. Even just recycling objects and clothes into something new is an extension of the cycle of life and death!
Some find artistically expressing their exploration of death particularly cathartic, but it can be intense. Don’t feel ashamed if you start a project and have to step back. Stay safe mentally, emotionally, and physically in your death exploration!
Vulture Culture: a particularly hands on way to explore death and its cycle. You can keep it simple and just deal with cleaned pieces you purchase/obtain and honor. If you do feel called to explore the collection and preservation of remains from start to finish, make sure you research methods and supplies beforehand. You will need a well ventilated “vulturing spot” for things like rot pots or a maceration tubs.
Low Spoon/Subtle ideas:
Visit a Natural History or art museum and just wander and explore peacefully. Feel free to bring non-witchy friends and family! You don’t have to say why you’re specifically picking this kind of museum.
Watch TV shows relating to forensics and academic death work. Or you can even ease into it by watching fictional shows as well, just take the process with a grain of salt 😉
Read myths and cultural practices that are related to the cycle of life and death.
Browse through articles or a blog like this one: http://www.thepostmortempost.com that examines aspects of death in an academic sense
All my death witch followers and friends are welcomed to add additional thoughts and ideas in reblogs!
Also feel free to send me any questions!

Enough about what other people keep telling you that you should think, what do you think about your spirituality? What do you think about the gods? What do you think you should do? Think for yourself and about what you want. What is religion or spirituality to you?
