I hate being up front on here about how dire my financial situation is, but I was rejected for all but one of the markets I applied to during pride month, made a total of $50 at the one market I was accepted to this month, and I have received a rejection letter for one of the two markets I applied to for August. There are not a lot of markets or craft fairs in my area to even apply to, and it will be even worse once the weather starys cooling off. I'm trying to find brick and mortar places to offer my work on consignment, but I'm not having a great deal of luck. And even if i find somewhere, the standard consignment deal is paying 40% of each sale to the venue.
Sales and commissions through my online shop have been incredibly slow. Due to disability, I am unable to pursue conventional employment, but neither do I receive government assistance. My dad helps me as much as he can, but my parents are also poor and disabled. I don't know how I'm going to cover my bills next month, and I am beginning to panic. Any and all reblogs help me so, so much.
I have a wide assortment of jewelry, pottery, knitted garments and home decor, bags, Judaica, knitting patterns, and more available, and I'm always happy to do custom work as well (message me if you're interested in commissioning something!).

Part 4, and last part of the felted penguin tutorial!
Tumblr media
Now that you have your beak, it’s time for the feet. From all the other penguins I’ve felted, I was running out of orange felt— you can use more than in the picture if you’d like to! Just make sure to cut/tear them as even as you can.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, for the feet I usually just place the felt on and go from there, but you can always make the shape beforehand.
Face the feet at an angle under the penguin, more towards the front than the back. Also try to get them as flat as you can, these will be the only thing holding your penguin up! Please do not give your penguin a concussion by dooming it to fall over and over again, the poor little guys.
Tumblr media
Next up we’re working on the eyes. If your penguin has a mask, sunglasses, etc, this step is completely optional. Here I could have switched to my smaller needle, but I stuck with medium.
You can shape the penguin’s expression a bit more here with how you shape the eyes— for example, since AA is more attentive, I gave her wider, slightly sloped eyes.
Applying them is about the same as applying the white felt on the belly. Place a small amount of white felt above one side of the beak, shape it as you tighten it, and do the same for the other side. Make sure not to leave any space between the white of the eyes and the beak, and of course, get it as flat as you can.

Lastly, add the black part of the eyes! Use a VERY small amount of black felt, as it pops out a lot.
If you have felting scissors, you can also snip away extra bits of felt around the sides to make it look cleaner. AA definitely needs a bit more of a trim XD
I’ll get to her clothes sometime, but for now, here’s your penguin tutorial!

(...I really don't want to hunt that up typo just now. I'll fix it when I fix it. The Tose Lace Kitting Book, indeed.)
Which is beyond the point. The point is, the patterns are live! Go forth and knit pretty laces!

Yarn bowl, yarn bowl, yarn... bowl?
I had this scratchy awful acrylic I bought from Herrschners forever ago (when I went to look up exact what yarn it was, I couldn't find it on their website. The evil is defeated! Yahoo!). With no idea what I could possibly do with it, I started experimenting and realized it was only half as terrible to crochet as it was to knit. Since it was super stiff and horrible knitted I figured it'd be stiff enough for one of those crochet baskets that seem popular.
It's really Not that stiff crocheted. Either due to the differences between how crochet and knitted fabrics work or simply my tension. But it does make a pretty nice collapsible yarn bowl ish thing. With it buttoned closed my yarn ball barely tries escaping, and while the ball rolling around isn't as smooth as my actual yarn bowls, it Does roll and doesn't just drag the bowl around.
