Reincarnation was a fickle thing. One moment you're dead, and the next you're alive.

It got. . . . . frustrating after a while of dying and coming back alive and dying again.

But after a while, you get used to it you know? It hurt, leaving behind important people, but wasn't there a beloved quote you always repeated? 'Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!'

So you did. You missed the souls of the past, but you moved on to honour their lessons and love.

In this life, you encountered some.... slightly familiar faces. It shook you to your core. For the longest time, you had believed you were the only soul that continued to roam the planet you lived on even after death.

But you see a familiar fallen angel at the park with another familiar angel.

You see a dragon creeping into Linkon City, and you slip away before he lays his piercing gaze on you.

You see a familiar sea god you once followed and believed in, but squash down the desire to call out to him in an ancient tongue only few people knew, and walk away.

You see a familiar master, who you once saw once a year descend down to your mountain, and allow him to give you the details of your mother's friend heart condition, and how everything would be ok.

You see a prince of an era that hadn't quite yet arrived, and you give him a small bow when his back is turned, and go back to work.

You see a familiar ████████, and you see him disappear.

All these people had something in common, they were familiar with her.

In all your lives, it was always her.

That was fine. Maybe in this life, they'll finally be happy?

You sure hoped so, because each timeline was even more painful than the last.

MC TWIN AU - ZAYNE'S Spring

"Sorry I'm late!" You skid your car into a halt as you arrive at the hospital, opening the door and adjusting the phone you were talking into, rushing into the building as you connect your bluetooth to your phone. "Where are you sis?"

"I'll come downstairs in a bit. Just wait at the front please?" Your sister replied, making you nod and end the call. You adjusted your bag and tossed your keys into the small pocket in your bag, and moved to sit down on one of the many seats, giving a small smile to the nurse at the reception.

You were about to head home after a long day of work, planning to curl up in your bed and binge watch some trashy movies, when your sister gave you a call. She was in the hospital for one of her appointments, but the trains were going slower than usual and she had an assignment she had to go back to work to submit.

Ha! It's a good thing you decided to not become a Hunter, because working overtime?! God made MC their strongest soldier, not you.

And it better stay that way.

You decide to get on your phone and mindlessly scroll on it, the motion reminding you of a distant past where you would doomscroll on an app. After a few more minutes of waiting, you blink when you hear your name being called and raised your head up, looking around to see where the voice was coming from

"[Name]!" You hear again, and you finally catch the gaze of your twin, and . . . and oh Lord.

It's him.

It's Zayne.

You stare at the doctor as he follows your sister to your direction, then scramble up to your feet so he doesn't think you're a maniac. You try and calm your racing heart, and begin to silently pray to every deity out there that your face wasn't red. MC reaches you and gives you a small hug, making you blink and return it. "Thanks so much for the lift!" She gushes, giving you a smile.

Normally you would reply more excitedly, but you merely gave her a small smile and a nod. "Yeah...no problem..."

Sorry sis, but hot . . . .or well cold doctor is in sight. Good lord MC you're one lucky woman.

"it's nice to see you again, Miss [Name]" Zayne speaks up, making you silently scream in your head because HE REMEMBERS YOU!!! "I'm glad to see you two have connected even more than I initially thought."

You give him a small smile, accepting the handshake he gave you (his hands were big holy fuck MC you lucky whore-) "It's nice to see you again, Doctor Zayne." you force your mouth to reply. "Thank you for looking after MC once again."

"It's no trouble at all. It is simply my job."

"Still, I know MC can be a handful to deal with -"

"Why are the two of you acting like I'm not here? Or like my parents? Or even worse, my mother and teacher?"

You and Zayne grow silent, turning to stare at MC. Without hesitation, you reach over to smack your twin on her head.

"OW?! WHAT WAS THAT FOR??"

"We'll be going now, Doctor Zayne." You nod at him, making the man nod in agreement. You turn around and try to ignore his heavy gaze on your back as you pull your sister away. Just as the two of you were about to leave, MC turns around and calls out "Don't forget to come for dinner for the three of us!!!"

It was a beautiful sunny day. The sun was shining, the birds chirping a wonderful song, the wind nice and cool.

It was simply a perfect day. . . . For chaos!

The cookie cleared her throat, then clapped her hands together. "Alrighty then. Vocal cords ready, jam sugar replenished." She placed her hands on her hair to adjust her blue bow, then patted her locks so her eyes could close. "Let the show begin!"

She perked up when she heard familiar voices walking closer to her side, then snapped her fingers to release the hounds she had taken for her grand performance. "Ahem. Aa ahh~ Perfect!" She cleared her throat again, then inhaled. "HELP! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!"

"Huh? Sounds like someone needs our help!" She heard a cookie, Gingerbrave if she recalled, speaking up making her giggle. "No! I can't laugh yet, I have to hold it in. HELP! PLEASE HELP ME!" she continued to scream, turning around to run towards the cookie's direction with the hounds on her heels. When she saw familiar cookies rushing towards her, she made sure her eyes widened and began to cry. "AHH SO SCARY!"

"Don't worry Miss!" Gingerbrave called out, brandishing his candy cane out as he and his friends ran towards the hounds. "We'll take care of this!"

The cookie ran and hid behind a tree, before poking her head out to stare at them. "Annnd target captured." She giggled, placing her hand over her mouth to hide her grin. After watching them deal with the hounds, she stepped out and adjusted her dress, fiddling with her sleeves. "Um, thank you all so much for saving me!" She said, letting out a sigh of relief. "Those hounds suddenly started to chase me when I was taking a walk. It was so scary...."

"It's alright now Miss." A warm familiar voice spoke up, and she blinked when she felt warm hands cup her own. Pure Vanilla Cookie gave her a smile, his eyes opened making an unfamiliar feeling creep up inside her, which she was quick to shove down. "I'm just glad we got here in time. Here, let me see if I can heal any of your injuries."

"Ah - thank you kind sir." She forced a giggle out, blue heterochromatic eyes staring directly at the bright blue soul jam that was here, HERS! As she felt Pure Vanilla use his power on her, a warmth that made some part of the cookie want to curl up in a blanket and sleep peacefully, she shook her head to quickly get back into character. "Thank you so much. May I get your name good sir?"

"Oh!" He let out a soft laugh. "Of course. My name is Pure Vanilla Cookie, and these are my dear friends, Gingerbrave Cookie, Wizard Cookie, and Strawberry Cookie."

"Hello!"

"I-It's nice to meet you."

"Good day."

"Hohohoho! It's nice to meet all of you." She smiled. "You cookies are so shiny and so strong!"

Strawberry Cookie tilted her head to the side. "Shiny and strong?'

Oops, she might have made a mistake. Oh whatever, that's what improv is for! "Yes! So shiny so strong! The aura you guys radiated when you were fighting was so . . . . beautiful. So inspiring! You guys could be the protagonist of your own epics! Your own stories!"

"Awww" Gingerbrave blushed, Strawberry Cookie let out a squeak and pulled the drawstrings of her hoodie to hide a bit, and Wizard Cookie huffed with pride. Kids, so naive. Well, at least that was solved.

"You four gave me your names, but you don't know mine!" She gasped, removing her hands from Pure Vanilla's grip to pick up the edge of her dress, and gave the four a bow. "I am Blueberry Jam Cookie. It's a pleasure to meet you all!"

"The pleasure is all ours." Pure Vanilla chuckled making Blueberry let out a giggle. "Would you like us to guide you back home Miss Blueberry? It's pretty dangerous in the forest."

"Oh my~" Blueberry Jam beamed. "That would be so! See, I actually came here to get a few more supplies for my trip! See, I'm actually moving out and wanted to gather a few berries, but I forgot my wand back home and well the hounds found me and . . . .well you know the rest."

"Oh! Where are you heading Miss Blueberry?"

A grin formed in her face, and she bit back her cackle. "Why, Vanilla Kingdom!"

Shadow Milk wasn't sure how much time had passed.

Days? Weeks? Months? Years!?

He didn't care really. All he cared about was that He Was Tricked.

"How the fuck did he do it!?" The Beast Cookie mumbled, raking his hand through his hair, the eyes on his locks closing instinctively so he wouldn't poke them. "I . . . . I completely outsmarted him! I was the one in charge! Me, me , ME!"

He suddenly paused, more memories hitting his head. 'Sometimes, you need the darkness to see the light.' rang in his head as a picture of a card for an Awakened Pure Vanilla Cookie, literally identical to the cookie he had ran away from, flashed in his eyes, and a scream of pure rage escaped his mouth. "WITCH DAMM IT!"

So, everything he had experienced, everything he had faced, all of his ideas, all of his plans, capturing Pure Vanilla and watching as he turned into Truthless Recluse . . . It . . . Was. . . . All . . . . SCRIPTED OUT!????

"AGGGHHHHH! STUPID DEVELOPERS! STUPID WITCHES! STUPID BEASTS? STUPID ANCIENTS! STUPID FUCKING PURE VANILLA COOKIE!'"

After even more hours of screaming and unfortunately crying, he was calm now.

Shadow Milk. . . . .was calm .

Now, what should she do? Should he give up and mope forever? Find the stupid Cookie and drag him back to the Spire so she could beat him up? Awakened Ancient or not, with enough spite and rage, Shadow Milk could do anything.

It was literally his motto! In both lives! With enough spite, rage and dedication, you could accomplish anything!

Shadow Milk slowly blinked before a smile grew on his face. "I should write that down somewhere."

Back to his original thought, what could he do? Everything had played out the same way it did in game, so could he even do anything?

Shadow Milk hummed in thought and pushed himself to float in the air, then moved his body upside down as he closed his eyes. "Decisions decisions.....Ah! I got it!"

It was a beautiful plan! A marvelous plan!

With a wide grin on his face, Shadow Milk flipped his body right side up and allowed his feet to touch the ground, walking towards one of the few mirrors that didn't break. "Hmmm," he hummed, cupping his cheeks. "If I make my hair a little bit shorter....ah! This dress looks dashing on me? Oohh what about this eye shadow!"

A few minutes later, the female cookie twisted and turned as she appraised herself. "Beautiful! Well, off course I'm beautiful I'm well, me!" She proclaimed, placing her hands on her hips. "Silly Vanilly, did you really think I'll let you go? Never."

Filled with rage after Pure Vanilla tricks him, Shadow Milk Cookie suddenly gets an onslaught of memories making him realize that fuck, he was living his second life.

Not like that mattered, he was still so pissed at him! Fuck Pure Vanilla for tricking him and snatching his Soul Jam! HIS SOUL JAM!

No one out tricks the Cookie of Deceit, no one. Which is why Shadow Milk came up with a plan, a wonderful plan! A simple marvelous wonderful plan!

Unlike what most people assume, gaining memories of your past life doesn't always happen as soon as you're reborn.

Shadow Milk Cookie doesn't actually remember how long it took for him. All he remembers is that it happened as soon as Pure Vanilla awakened.

It wasn't slow and sweet, but fast and abrupt. As rage filled his heart and the urge to take, take, take Pure Vanilla and crush him because how DARE HIM TRICK SHADOW MILK! THE BEAST OF DECEIT!? HOW DARE HIM! Sudden unfamiliar memories hit him.

A young female staring at her friends as they gushed about a Cookie of all things.

Staring at the game title with curiosity and intrigue.

Pulling on the gacha.

Getting invested in the Lore.

Making theories, joining the fandom, reading stories, looking at art, hyperfixating on Cookies of all things!

Growing up some more.

Dying.

And suddenly Shadow Milk simply couldn't take it anymore, there was no point!

So, she (she?? well, she would work with it, so she.) with rage still making her jam rush into her head, let out a loud scream and teleported away. She ignored Black Sapphire Cookie and Candy Apple and marched into her quarters, the onslaught of new and old memories colliding making her head hurt like hell.

Many things broke because of her rage. Cups and plates? Gone. Paintings? Destroyed, tables? Now a bunch of splinters.

Most people when it comes to reincarnating as a villain always had one thought. 'Oh! I want to be a better person! So I should change my ways for the greater good!'

Not Shadow Milk though. In fact, instead of redemption, the one thing going through her mind was.

"HOW THE FUCK DID I GET TRICKED BY THE FUCKING COOKIE OF TRUTH!!????"
