☆━ josie had somewhat made a name for herself as an advocate in the hollywood hills. from human rights to women’s rights, it was nothing strange when she added animal shelters to her list. NKLA was a favorite of hers, they’d rescued countless animals and helped place them in forever-homes, so donating some of her time and anything else was the least she could do. reaching out to a fellow advocate and arguably far more famous pal, jo gave lily a call and now they were both standing in the puppy kennels. “this might have been a bad idea, ‘cause now i just wanna adopt all these dogs.”

although lily was not known best for charity or volunteer work – why, that didn’t mean she didn’t still do anything. she had enough money to donate to any cause, although she’d made the mistake of donating to red cross before the news came out, she had the ability to open ‘centers’, but rarely did she get as hands-on as she would be today. there now, standing beside josie and looking down at the dogs, she replied, “ you think they’ve got a limit on how many you can adopt at once ?? ” her dog would hate it.

          celeste raised a brow, then slowly lets a smirk crawl up on her facial features. she’s not a kind of person who’d let the opportunity of getting drunk pass. “i’m actually thinking about it now. maybe we should really get out there and have our asses wasted as hell the whole memory of the night would be erased.” the brunette shrugged, then ran a hand on her slightly tangled hair. she happily takes the other’s clothes, offering a childish yet thankful grin on her face. “watch me!”

“ so it did work ?? ” oh, the intuition. “ i mean, if you’re fine showing off that huge shirt... ” lily had given up drinking to the point that she was wasted ( or just drunk, for that matter ), but being a ‘wet blanket’ ?? the worst. drinking just slowly enough that it made her drinking partner feel less bad about themselves because she seemed to be drinking the same amount ?? her mind. “ i can already see the ‘celebs: they’re just like us!’ headline. ”

“ prodigy’s a fitting word, ” she replied, raising an eyebrow. his following question was one that she recognized, especially from her early years, but it had become increasingly difficult to pick an answer. having spent half of her life in the public eye, she figured what so many people found ‘surreal’, she found normal. “ hmm... ” ugh, her mind. “ well, i mean my answer used to always be all the free stuff. i guess that’s still pretty strange, y’know ?? people giving you stuff just because they can. ” good enough. “ what do you think ?? ”

   simon catches himself being lost in thought, and then gives the blonde across the table a smile. ❝ sorry, i was just thinking about how surreal my life is to literally be able to get lunch with lily caine. ❞

lily had always found herself fond of simon’s company... but somehow never finished hanging out with him because mona and may have never completed a thread together. nonetheless, fond !! offering a smile in return, she raised her eyebrows and replied, “ i mean, i’m over here getting lunch with a damn prodigy. pretty surreal here too, if you ask me. ”

          “but hey, being somewhere amazing but feeling like a total shithead is a fucking phenomenon. i remember that time i was in dublin and i had the worst headache– locals suggested to get my ass drunk and the headache would be gone.” she said, chuckling at the memory of fighting headache with another headache that’s bound to happen. “iconic, i can’t wait!” she practically squealed. “i’m getting the super large one, then.”

“ god, it really is. so, should i, like, assume you wound up taking that suggestion ?? because i’d do most anything locals suggested. ” while it could be considered a smart move, she often ignored all common sense for it. not quite as smart. “ right ?? and it’s real comfortable. ” – she figured it was common sense that such an outfit would feel suffocating. “ great – you’ll prove to be a real fashion icon, ” she replied, pulling out said large shirt and offering it to the other.

          “   i don’t know what i’m saying,   ”   were the muttered words of axel, as he rested his elbow on the table and allowed his fingers to run through dark locks of hair,  “   maybe i do miss them, but it’s not like there’s anything to do about this. i made my decision, didn’t i   ?   ”   he was referring to the only people in his life he would have had to miss. his family. in this moment, he supposed he had everything he could wish for   —   everything he needed to hold on, to make it through every day with a smile at the very least. he had everything he needed to be happy, yet that did not stop the tug at his heart. nonetheless, it had been at least five years, if not longer, that they had not said a word to each other, that he had not seen them, that he hadn’t reached out. he made the decision five years ago to cut loose from the ties to his family. he had his reasons, he even had multiple, however never had he considered that his siblings would be included in the equation. his imminent focus on his own needs had caused him to fail to see how he’d be leaving his younger siblings without another word. and he didn’t realize it now, until the same imminent focus on his own needs made him realized he missed them.   “   i’m sorry for this. we didn’t meet for me to dump this all on you.   ”   he threw the blonde a forced, yet apologetic smile.   “   what’ve you been up to   ?   feel like i haven’t heard of the iconic lily caine in a while.   ”   @lilyissms.

there was a time lily was close to her family, sure, and it certainly wasn’t as though she was completely estranged. did she talk to her sister often ?? sure. her mother ?? definitely not as much, but there were occasions. her brother ?? she didn’t have much of a choice in that matter. that being said, there was also a time that she did seem – or, if nothing else, feel – completely disconnected. yes, when making amends, it took years to reach her mother – god knows the tell all was still out there. with that in mind, perhaps she would’ve been better suited to talk to axel about his family life ( unexpected as it was ) before loose ends had been tied back together, alas... “ i mean, if it helps, i’d say reaching out is, y’know, at least worth thinking about. it’s not like you haven’t made a life for yourself, anyway, ” she replied, fairly sure he was talking about his decision to pursue music but we never talked about whether or not she would know that or not and may isn’t looking to put specifics in there because she wants to avoid godmodding. and, oh, how she had the same question as he did !! “ i’ll let you know when i’ve been up to anything cool. maybe i’ll just release another damn perfume, ” she responded because this exists in universe now. go buy prerogative, a fragrance for all.

          “it will always be terrible; no matter what happens.” celeste huffed in frustration, then felt the jetlag sensation in her head once again. this is definitely good enough to be labelled as a bad day. “it’s in red? i might consider borrowing it for my birthday. i’ll let you know when i finally decided what to do on that date– of course! i’d be more than happy to wear an old t-shirt rather than be stuck wearing this whole outfit after god knows how long.”

“ i mean, you’d think at least going somewhere real cool would make it worth it, but, like, i could go to paris and still feel real bad, ” she replied, knowing everybody stans an intellectual with strong thought processes. to be fair to the intellectual, it was an honest sentiment. “ oh yeah – i mean, more of an orange-red, but it’s really good-looking. you wanna borrow it on your birthday, i got your back. ” she did it again. “ alright, i got two options for you – just a regular white shirt, but super large, or regular sized shirt that says ‘world’s greatest dad’ on it. ”

he almost hated himself for being just the type of fan that he wasn’t always fond of, but there was no going back now. he chuckled, “i don’t know if i’d believe you per se, but i’d see where you were coming from,” he smiled. he nodded enthusiastically when she mentioned his band, shook that she actually recognized him from his band, “yeah, yeah, i am.”

as stupidly strange as it still was ( fifteen years later, mind you ), it was flattering to hear such excitement in someone’s voice when they spotted her. other famous people were not exempt from such. “ alright, then if anyone asks, you’re talking to susan. ” for a name she’d used for so long ( usually for horrible jokes such as this as opposed to aliases to make reservations under ), god knows she had no clue where it originated from. “ y’know, from what i’ve heard, y’all have some real fun songs. ” ugh, the grammar of a genius.
