Touhou style myth! Ammit is a goddess/demon of the Egyptian underworld, and unlike most she had no real form of worship, instead solely fear. As Anbuis judges peoples hearts at the scale of Maat, she awaits to eat those heavier than a feather, condemning the person to oblivion. She’s a combination of a crocodile, a lion and a hippo— the 3 deadliest animals known to Egyptians.

Specifically for this design I wanted to mimicking Nue as they’re both ambiguous hybrid creatures mistaken for something else, as well as just for fun. The pose was a little difficult because I couldn’t find reference of ZUN doing a side profile.

Touhou style myths! Sedna (ᓴᓐᓇ ) is the Inuit goddess of the ocean and its creatures. There’s many many version of the stories but in all, She rules over the Inuit underworld, and is the mother of Seals, Whales, and many daughters after they were born from her chopped off fingers (following a dispute with her parents where she tried to eat them). Other sea animals emerge from her combed hair, combed my shamans. Sedna is known for having a temper, and to placate her, people will throw broken harpoons, bone knifes and meat remnants into the ocean as offerings

There is also a distant object in our solar system named after her, due to its distance and lone existence in a deep dark void.

Touhou style myth— A haint is a ghost from the southern USA, specifically black American communities. Haint comes from the word “haunt”, as they are ghosts. A vengeful spirit who chase their victims to exhaustion, Haints are unable to move on with their lives, instead causing troubles and mischief. To ward them off, the ceilings of houses would be painted blue to mimic the sky, so the spirit would think it was outside and ascend. This shade of blue came to be known as Haint blue because of this.
