Rasnal the abundance king

King Rasnal was a greedy, narcissistic bear, that anyone normal, even bears, would hate, as he lacked honor.

He was like a feral one but on its hind legs, with red paint over his fur, starting from under his eyes and bottom jaw.

This king bear had a nameless opponent, one that he hated with all his heart as he always called out Rasnal's lies and cruelty, a truth that the people needed to know but that Rasnal's hatred couldn't silence.

However one day, a red-haired bear came up to Rasnal. It was like this bear was trying to look like a bear, but never quite succeeded. For this reason, Rasnal called them "the witch".

"I come from far away", the red witch said, "if you vanquish your nameless adversary, I prophecize that you and your people will be gifted abundance. Plants will grow, harvests will be bountiful. Your people will be happier and never question your authority again."

Rasnal, overconfident, trusted the witch. No one would defy him if his subjects had constant food and ailments cure.

So, he immediately threw the witch in prison,as the prophecy would happen regardless. He believed it would. He believed in signs, like a tyrant would.

The connection between Rasnal and the Witch became a way to subjugate the witch. They had to obey him, and couldn't use their power to free themselves from him, as long as he expressed control over them.

He started parading in town. He started telling the prophecy, of a truth bound to happen,on a carriage, with bars hidden by cloth was the witch, and as the carriage moved, plants would grow.

His people cheered him on. Everywhere he paraded, harvest was plenty and illness low.

However his nameless opponent didn't cheer any of it. A bear in green armor went forward, and asked to duel him. Rasnal accepted.

The nameless opponent drew his weapon.

"Please do not risk your life" he heard a voice in his head, not his own. This voice shared the prophecy.

"Your people were given abundance. Please let him bear the consequences, as we have not given him his own."

Now aware of the witch' existence, the nameless and honorable bear let his weapon fall to the ground, as per tradition, that would equal defeat for him and victory for the false king.

Rasnal laughed, as more of the prophecy became true.

But as time passed, he started to believe that the witch' power was his own.

So to show 'his' power, he went to a dry field. He said, that he would show his people abundance, more than they imagined.

Unbeknownst to him, the witch was freed. Believing that their power was his own severed the connection.

An abundance of plants grew. Fruit and vegetables were born and grew, lush and juicy, big and delicious, then rot as the plants aged just as quickly. The abundance of growing and dying plants created mud and weed, weed that grew around Rasnal and led him into an embrace, an embrace of nature he couldn't control. They envelopped him, brought him closer and deeper into the mud that he created, burying him deeper into the ground until his voice became a mere memory.

The people cheered. The witch that no one knew was gone, and the nameless opponent became a known and loved king.

Rasnal believed in signs like a tyrant would, never questioning each words in them. He also fell, like a tyrant who believes in signs would.

Emergency commissions go with the rule that you let me do them whenever I can, have the energy to (am disabled), so whether it takes 1 week, one month or one year, I WILL end up doing it

New ref sheet finally done, this took me forever hrrrng.

More info and bonus drawings under the cut.

Right, so, most obvious change is that they now have very mouse/rat/rodent like legs. At least that's what I used for references.

They also now have a different coat colour in summer, which is the one that I wanted them to have from the very start, but back then I couldn't get the colour right, but I had grown too attached to the grey coat also so I made the coat variable. Also the winter coat may be a little bit fluffier than the summer coat, but that fact is not really very obvious if you look at them.

This ref sheet doesn't include clothing so you can see the new markings better, but they do occasionally like to wear clothes, such as shirts, hoodies, cloaks and certain kinds of pants that aren't uncomfortable on their legs.
