Butches, however, are often the specific target of homophobic attacks from the world at large. To homophobes, butches are the picture of femaleness gone awry, women who are not truly women. And if they’re not “feminine,” then they must be trying to be men.

We are too quick to believe that certain clothes, hairstyles, and mannerisms belong to men.

I remember my first lover remarking, “Who said these were men’s clothes?” What an enormous impact that simple statement had not only on my ideas of dress, but also on my growing conviction that women could do, wear, or say anything they wanted. I'm convinced that butch lesbians helped change the face of womanhood while being told they were debasing it.

My previous post about Carol is mostly because I know in no-time if not already fandom has already given her the category of "bitchy bigot mom"

I'm not saying she's NOT a bad person because the way she treats Noelle is not justified by any reasons, and while I do think some jokes are funny, I don't doubt there's people that actually think Carol's meant to be homophobic when I think that the ONLY reasonable part of her actions so far is being mad Susie went into her missing daughter's room, which she's preserved exactly as it was completely untouched, took her guitar and played it, on top of that. She didn't deal with it greatly, but I think it's reasonable for her to feel upset.

I just hate the treatment that goes with antagonistic female roles specially in the bitchy mom archetype, an example being Odalia Blight. Which, I'll give it to you, Odalia actually had no actual development (and Carol's hinted to be more of an important character and probably will actually have development) but it's just crazy to me the way male antagonists can be forgiven for every villainous thing they do (mostly worse) yet you write a once of evilness in a female character and they're worse than the devil.

I really like Carol Holiday because her position is extremely sad no matter what. I assume she's so overprotective and harsh over Noelle because of the fact that she's already lost one of her daughters and wants to do everything in her power to avoid anything happening to her too. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that she changed a lot since that moment.

Whether you think she's the Knight or working with them, the most likely scenario for any case is that she's probably trying to find/save her daughter. Which is so, so inherently tragic. :(

I was always under the impression that Zeke was a hated character from the beginning (I mean killing established characters and hundreds and additionally being a jerk while doing so is not exactly good PR) but it looks like he... wasn't?
