Inspired by Frida self-portrait with thorn necklace and hummingbird. Kahlo painted the self-portrait after her divorce from Diego Rivera and the end of her affair with photographer Nickolas Muray. . Incredible amount of work involved in creating this piece. Front- 18 hand-sawn leaves for the background, tiny hand-sawn butterflies for her hair. Organic casting of lace for the body, organic casting of poke berries for her hair. Stone on stone setting, handmade chain. 24K gold Keum Boo hummingbird on her neck. Back- Hand-sawn wings details, hand stamped words and turquoise for the back of the pendant. . Age of Innocence . . . After many days and countless hours, I finally finished this piece. Many techniques involved in the making of this piece. From organic casting of the bronze lace, painting and enameling of the girl, metalsmithing of the setting and the handmade chain...
