i hate it when people shorten cxs and lg's names to cheng and lu. i understand why they do it (cultural differences), but it's wrong. cheng and lu are their last names, not first names, and chinese names are two characters minimum (every character has a meaning, this lets the person you're talking to know that you're talking about a person, not a thing).

to put it in comparison, it's like having a friend named john doe, and insisting on shortening his name to d.

i don’t think shiguang are intended to be gay but can’t because of censorship. atleast lh0’s original intentions for them isn’t romantic. theres definitely some shippers in studio lan/animation teams but i dont think that means anything because they dont influence the writing. i still ship them and will forever

or maybe i’m being obtuse towards queercoding.

early s1 was my favourite by far, and i’m more emotionally attached to the noodle shop & earthquake arcs than most of s2 and even shiguang’s dynamic

I do agree that I miss the how S1 was too though I think Bridon arc actually had a good balance.

While we didn't dive much in the arc we did still explore the stories of a few minor characters such as Shen Miaomiao and Vivian which reminded me quite a bit of the feelings of those early episodes of S1.

lowkey i'm kinda sick of shiguang being equated to every other set of characters with black&white colour schemes when most of the time they're not even similar as actual characters beyond the appearance trope. I can see the appeal a bit, but it strikes me as reductive more than anything.
