This is a blog for Lin (Olivia) Nazzaro's art.
Currently I have a wide range of work displayed here, from early in my college career to current work. My most current work comes from two series: one conceptual, one not.
My conceptual work is a series of oil paintings based in the idea that many things are both finite and infinite at the same time. I express this visually by playing with intense scale relationships to highlight the visual similarities that already exist in the world, but aren’t immediately apparent. I also consider fractals, and mathematical and visual sequences that are perpetuated throughout the known universe in a variety of contexts. This work ties into my spiritual beliefs, as these sequences and similarities are where I have found what I consider to be God. I believe that the universe has a consciousness, and that all things are connected. This connection is what I ultimately want to express in this body of work.
My second body of work consists of semi-realistic portraits of animals, with some kind of pun or whimsical phrase, and a graphic background. I derive the phrase either from some strange or funny fact about that particular animal, or from a quirky picture I find to reference for the portrait itself. With this series I want to emphasize my sense of humor, and use it to create some respite for the viewer from the chaotic world we live in.
