Everyone on my team lives in the real world. We have real jobs in real companies. We are not acedemics though we are all educated. We are not trained journalists, which you will see with our writing. We work hard to either Manage Technology based on Linux and/or the people who Manage the technology. Our goal is both to help the newest of newbies understand and the most seasoned of Linux Experts understand how to explain the when and where to use Linux. We don't believe Linux is the best choice for all situations. We do believe there are only a limited number of issues that need to be addressed to for Linux to hit the tipping point in the area of acceptance.

The state of the linuxinstall.net podcast from Brian Wagner
I have been avoiding this task since I made the decision in January.  The team and I have grown and changed over the last 6 years.  So has Linux.  When we started we still felt like we were explaining to people why they wanted to use Linux.  Now we spend more time talking about why we want to use a specific technology on a specific distro.  So last year I tried to re-ignite our passion and focus on the podcast by just focusing on Linux and not just Corporate Linux.  It worked well for a while but each of us has other passions that we just want to spend more time on.  This is how we ended up with no shows for the last few months and only sporadically for the months before then.  So for now we are going to put the podcast on hold.  I will still be posting to the twitter and Google Streams communities when I find interesting articles, but the site itself will more or less just be a place holder for the older content and shows.
My focus for some time has been on the DevOps world.  It's what I love doing so you can check my new podcast over at the DevOps Mastery website/blog/podcast.  I am focused on helping people get started on their DevOps career.  I will be Linux focused of course and talking about DevOps from the Ops perspective.
Joe Leuzzi has for some time been working hard over at What I'm Playing Now where he has a blog, podcast and game streams going.  He has been missing from the show for a while because our production schedules weren't matching up.  Both of us are busy personally and professionally and as you will see if you visit the site his hard work is paying off.
Walt Jevack and his wife welcomed a new member to the family earlier this year.  So he is a bit sleep deprived and wackier than normal.  You can still follow his Tech escapades over at jevack.com.
Not to be left out Greg Martin is also busy with other projects.  He has recently released an Android development environment called Vagabond.  So go check it out at Project Vagabond's website and get your Android hacking on.
So for now we are putting the show on-hold.  It may return, it may not.  Either way we appreciate all of the support and feedback over the years.  While I haven't had the chance to meet a lot of you, the ones I have, almost always have become friends.
Lastly as we do with every show don't forget to:
Go install Linux....

LinuxInstall.net Episode 120 - More fun with PogoPlugs...
Check out the podcast over here.
1) Introduction
Brian - Brian played with PogoPlug and LInux Mint 17 Cinnamon
Walt - Got the Pogoplug working off an SD Card
2) What we are up to with Linux?
More Fun with the PogoPlug
Installing Archlinux onto a USB Key is easy
Installing Debian is a medium difficulty
Installing on the SD card is an advanced task
The PogoPlugs aren’t fast but they will work great for simple tasks
Walt is seeing about 35/Mbps file transfers so the throughput does not even max out the USB 2.0 speed
Serving stactic pages works fine but DB’s should probably be avoided due to a lack of memory.
Check out TiddlyWiki as a cool wiki without the need of a DB and most of the processing is done in the browser as it’s all written in JavaScript.

Linuxinstall.net turned five last Thursday....
So Joe and I were talking last Friday and I realized that my first post on Linuxinstall.net was on June 12th.  We thought we should re-post it just to remind you where we started.  Hopefully you like where we have ended up.
Thanks for all the comments and support!!!!!!
WOW!!!! We finally got this moving.  I am Brian "Wags" Wagner.  I am the founder of LinuxInstall.Net.  So why does the Internet need yet another Linux focused WebSite?  Because a lot of great sites about Linux seem to be slowing.  I am not saying all of the great sites are going anywhere.  As an example of a site that is still going strong check out DistroWatch which is one of the best locations for finding information about what else but distrobutions.
So what are we going to do?
I have several of my friends out searching the Web for Interesting Stories about Linux.  We are then going to turn the posts into a Podcast for people like myself who prefer to listen.  We are going to broadcast our recording sessions and make the full/behind the scenes stuff available on Youtube and others.  We are finally going to create a set of screencasts and articles that will show the processes we go through to do things in Linux.  The topics will start off with what a new user would do.  For instance, we will install a distro(or 2 or 10).  After that we will continue to build on the server to create an entire network of servers.  We have plans to add much much more but this seems like a great way to start.
What should we expect out of the editorial staff?
We believe that your feedback is our most valuable resource....
We look forward to everyones feed back about what we have to say and the articles, HowTo's and stories we link to.  Community is the key to making Linux Mainstream and to make Open Source work.  The same is true for our site.  So please, please, please comment, ask questions, challenge our positions, and tell us what we can do better.  We are passionate about Linux and Technology.
