do not wallow in your grief for too long. kiss your mothers, your fathers, the friends you chose, and relish in the life you have been granted. this pain will not fade quickly nor easily, but celebrate the life he lived and the one you continue to and it may become slightly more bearable. 

grief is not linear. it hurts and hurts and it will become anger, despair, and so many things before you know it. 

our protesilaus may be gone, but do not be the laomedeia resting beside him. celebrate his life as the soldiers did and do not let him be forgotten.

no matter how many coins each team has, they are automatically rearranged to be in rainbow order so red and orange are always first. dream is on pink parrots and rage quits.

-no one is aware of it until three days before, and they don’t know what team they’re getting

-team is picked by smajor throwing darts at a character tier list on the night before while slightly drunk

-ace race has absolutely scuffed shortcuts. wilbur soot manages to use every single one of them on accident. philza minecraft is crying.

-dodgebolt has two audience members fill in for a random player. unknown to the players smajor is rigging the system. twitter somehow finds out but is dismissed for being toxic

-technoblade is there and at every round, he randomly selects a team to fill in for. however, he is playing with a vr set and a steering wheel. he becomes more of a threat to the team he is filling in for than his opponents

-tommyinnit gets knock back 1000 sticks for every round doesn’t even matter what game it is he gets the sticks.

- dream wears his mask in real life as he plays. sapnap holds him at gunpoint after being promised to be shifted to s tier by scott major

-hbomb cosplays as cat maid for the other teams

sometimes the dream smp feels like a small fandom. sometimes it feels like a small, little cozy place for just us, the people that like it, and the streamer. sometimes, in the middle of a chill alt stream where alex and karl are talking about how they first met, it feels like our own little nook of the internet.

then i see cody ko get trending on twitter for quackityhq — the reddit and discord’s got talent guy — merely saying his name once, accidentally.

then i see fucking dwane johnson reply to tommyinnit — a kid that still lives with his parents and gained 3 million subscribers in one year — wishing him happy birthday.

then i see matpat & fuckin game theory make a video on wilbur soot — a man that wrote a little hamilton inspired story for him and his friends to have fun with — and talking about his writing in depth.

then i see the rolling stone make an article on the dream smp.

then i see pewdiepie, the biggest youtuber ever, defending karl jacobs — best friend of another one of the biggest and most successful youtubers ever — and saying not to send him hate.

then i see lovejoy, wilbur soot’s band, hit #1 on the uk and #2 on the us itunes charts, the day after their debut.

then i see lil nas x, the fucking horses in the back guy, the same guy that performed at the grammys with worldwide hit boyband bts, join the dream smp and play with ranboo — a kid that isn’t even allowed to order pizza to his house — karl jacobs and corpse husband.

then i see a woman on fucking fox news, on live national television, talk about her pet chicken she named after badboyhalo, a lighthearted minecraft streamer that pranks his friends and doesn’t ever swear.

then i realize, it’s The Dream SMP.

then it hits me.

then it all hits me.

everybody knows what the dream smp is.

everybody knows who these people are.

and any post of yours could end up on an article.

any comment you make could be their next ongoing joke in all their streams.

these people get trending across social media everyday.

these people are fucking celebrities.

and what do they do?

play Minecraft.

AITA for retaliating?

I (22F) am a therapist to this kid, (17M) we'll call him Timmy. He's a sweet kid, but he has unresolved anger issues and has recently recruited a few others (17-24M) to vandalize and destroy my property outside of our sessions. I'm not proud to admit it but I did retaliate, and I understand that as a person of authority it's my responsibility to set a good example. In my defense, though, he was being a little shit.

This whole era of discrediting mcyt stans as teenaged girls obsessed with these old white men and looking down on them because of it is nothing new.

The Beatles. One Direction. Boy bands that when they were in their prime (like the 1900s for the Beatles) were all the rage among young girls, especially teenagers. And they were looked down on! we look at kids who stanned one direction or a kpop band and their interests and their likes were just crushed into the ground like it was dirt, because they liked something and people didn’t like it.

I’m going to be honest, mcyt are nothing new. Ever since minecraft came out, you’ve got the og’s—CaptainSparklez, Stampy, DanTDM, and they’ve kept going. But even when you saw these middle school boys years ago thinking that these mcyt were the shit, as far as I know they were never as ruthlessly shamed for it.

but then with the rise of newer creators and a spiked female interest in these creators—not just because they’re good looking, but because we genuinely enjoy MINECRAFT content and this society supposedly doesn’t demonize women for liking video games anymore—comes the people that believe it’s cringe.

Wilbur Soot said it best, I think, when he said that teenage girls cannot have anything. We’re not allowed to enjoy anything without being made fun of, and it is rooted in misogyny. People don't like when teenage girls have nice things, happy things, carefree-and-careless things. one of the reasons these creators get “cancelled” (not called out, cancelled) so often is that people know their fan base will readily defend them, and choose to attack the fans instead. but what fanbase wouldn’t?

I beg you, name a SINGLE fanbase that wouldn’t jump to their cc’s support when they were being attacked. in reality, they make fun of people supporting their favorite creators and defend their actions by saying that these fans are just “fourteen year old girls who want to date them” while being completely oblivious to the fact that they routinely simp for women online in the same. Exact. Situation.

they don’t realize that HEY! you used to be all over these mcyt. You thought Dream was the absolute shit back when he had a few million, but then these stupid fucking teenage girls had to (god forbid) TAKE AN INTEREST in it and now it’s nothing but cringe.

shut the fuck up. I am allowed to enjoy content because I find it interesting without giving a shit about what the person behind the computer screen looks like. I am allowed to enjoy content because I find someone attractive, because I think they’re funny, or because I like what they do. And they are ALLOWED to have an impact on my life and my happiness.

I don’t need to feel guilty for liking something, but this “I’m not like other girls” mentality that we have fucking hammered into our heads combined with the onslaught of hatred we receive for simply ENJOYING CONTENT make it so, so hard.

To anyone out there, not just teenage girls, you are allowed to enjoy content. You don't need to feel ashamed for liking something that millions of other people your age do, and instead of paying attention to the people that think you don't deserve happiness and try to destroy you because of it, just close twitter. Move on. Find people who feel the same way as you, and surround yourself in support.

this isn't anything new. Dream gets cancelled every week, and it's not good for your mental health to constantly search these tags. the only twitter account I actually pay attention to is the @/smpupdate account, and I suggest you do the same.
