“…as she got older, she delighted in sneaking up behind him and tickling him when he least expected it. It was such a pleasure to be cleaning and to suddenly hear squeals of delight coming from the two of them in the next room. It was sometimes hard to tell which of the two of them was having the most fun. They also loved to reverse roles. Lisa would pretend to be the “mommy”, and Elvis would let her feed him as they sat on his massive bed. It was very cute to watch, although I did clean up a number of a food messes on that bed over the years….”

Austin Butler and Lisa Marie Presley embrace following Austin’s Best Actor Golden Globe win for his performance as her father in the movie Elvis on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. In his acceptance speech, Austin thanked Lisa Marie and her mother Priscilla for sharing their memories of Elvis with him, moving them both to tears when he concluded: “Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.” This was Lisa Marie’s last public appearance before her sad passing two days later at the age of 54.

In a strange coincidence, this is a first rough draft of something I started three days ago. I wasn’t going to post this but I’ve just seen the news and want to wish Lisa Marie all the best.

I don’t know why I started to draw this, but it’s one of my favourite photos of Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley. This photo was taken after their divorce but it always exudes love and connection to me, so in further drafts I want to make them their own neon light. I thought it was only appropriate to send her some light and love right now.
