#themoongravityandskychallenge asks, "How did you name your main character?" So, I totally have to go with Arianette Gracelilly from The Wood Witch's Daughter for this one. Arianette was named after my main character in a text-based RPG that I played for a good two decades of my life, #gemstoneiv (although it was gemstone III when I first started playing 🤣). So she's a character I had in my head for a looong time (like since I was eleven) before she made it to limelight of her own book! I did take some liberties with her. The original Arianette was a Dark Elf, whereas in the Ethereal Realms books she's...oh wait... I can't tell you that. It's a secret. She's "just the mortal daughter of a wood witch." Right. Happy Tuesday! Today's #themoongravityandskychallenge is to talk about your characters #strengths and #weaknesses I picked Ashlynn, from Out of New York City, my zombie apocalypse novel. She's a complex character, kind of an anti-hero. A drug addict, who shot her abusive boyfriend when he turned into a zombie, she's extremely insecure and has very little self-worth. At the same time, she has a very strong survival instinct, and her outside the box thinking consistently gets her and Leith out of potentially deadly situations. 💫Happy #writerwednesday ! 💫 Today's prompt for #themoongravityandskychallenge asks "What is one piece of advice you would give to a new writer/someone who wants to start writing?" My answer is to trust your process! Some people do best with pages and pages of backwriting, extensive outlines, and a fully formed plot. Others (me) have characters who aren't at all interested in what I *want* them to do. They have their own ideas in me. For me, my process is stepping back and letting my characters take the reins and steer the story where they want it to go, and I get creatively stuck if I try to stick to an outline! There's no "right" process! Experiment and do what works for you! So, are you a #plotter or a #pantster?
