Negative affects on your health
https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/sleep-and-tiredness/why-lack-of-sleep-is-bad-for-your-health/
Lacking in sleep can lead to the person feeling short tempered, fatigue and difficulty staying focused. If they continue to experience sleepless nights over a long period of time, the mental effects become more serious. You will start to experience brain fog, which will make it difficult to concentrate nd make decisions. You’ll start to feel emotionally exhausted and may fall asleep during the day and because you’re so tired, your risk of injury and accidents at home, work and on the road increases a lot. If this continues any further, it can deeply affect your overall health and make you more prone to serious medical conditions, such as obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Health benefits
Getting enough sleep each night is important because there are plenty of benefits from this, such as it strengthens your immune system meaning you won’t get sick as often, stay at a healthy weight, it lowers your risk for serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease, it also reduces stress and improves your mood, better mood means getting along better with people. Getting enough sleep diminishes brain fog which allows you to think clearly and perform better in school and at work, and you can make good decisions and avoid injuries - for example, drowsy drivers cause thousands of car accidents every year (Twery .M, 2017).

Sleep on side research

Though this campaign isn’t the same as what I’m doing, it is run by Curekids which is a massive organisation and by saying that, they must have some good ways to help spread their message, such as a Youtube video and a website. ‘Sleep on Side; Stillbirth Prevention Campaign’ is a public health messaging campaign by the University of Auckland, Cure Kids and the Ministry of Health, that is designed to provide pregnant women with vital information that may reduce the risk of stillbirth in the late stages of pregnancy.

insomnia
Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep. You may still feel tired when you wake up. Insomnia can sap not only your energy level and mood but also your health, work performance and quality of life (Mayo clinic. 2016).

Lockdown effecting our sleep schedule?
The uncertainty of lockdown and the stress it has created in many people, it is leading them to become insomniacs. the disrupted schedules haven’t been allowing our circadian rhythm to stay intact because of the lost of so many external cues (Lufkin, B. 2021)

My Idea behind having a podcast to my campaign was so that users could wind down a few hours before bed listening to calming music or bed time stories for grown ups. This podcast will contain a lot of curated sounds and tunes and made into few hours straight of tunes, this will also make good background noise. There will also be episodes dedicated to thunderstorm and rain sounds, as a lot of people like listening to it because its calming.
These podcast episode will be uploaded at least once a week, mostly thrice and they will be randomised as to which category is uploaded. The categories are, stories, nature sounds and tunes. This will give variety to listeners and to try something new or just choose to wind down with their favourite episode.

Journal Pages

These are my journal pages. the top left one is the cover page, since I have started to introduced gradients into my design style, things have just clicked and they add a lot of personality to the overall brand. I wanted the cover to be pretty so I made a bunch of radial gradients and layered them on top of one another to create this effect. It took me a few tries to get it to this point. The type on the cover would be embossed to give it more of an effect.
I decided to go with the journal title of ‘one sleep closer to better sleep’ because that is the main goal of this journal, to improve their sleep habits and sleep quality.
Since I didn’t want all the pages to have gradient backgrounds as that would be too much and make the book really busy; I decided to go with some solid coloured pages and gradient pages mixed in between. I wanted to add in some fact pages and definition pages that can be educational to break up the pages as they will be randomly scattered through out the book. These pages are the main front for these fact and definition pages so there would be a lot more.

Revenge bedtime procrastination
This is the decision to sacrifice sleep for leisure time that roots from a persons daily schedule lacking in free time. It is mostly seen in people in high-stress jobs that take up most of the day, therefore seeking a few hours of entertainment despite the result of getting insufficient sleep. Late nights and early mornings can directly lead to sleep deprivation; getting few hours of sleep can have significant effects on mental, physical and emotional well being that can lead to short and long term consequences.
Behaviors of RBP
A delay in going to sleep that reduces one’s total sleep time
The absence of a valid reason for staying up later than intended, such as an external event or an underlying illness
An awareness that delaying one’s bedtime could lead to negative consequences
People who are most affected by RBP are students and women, as they were more likely to engage in bedtime procrastination.
Revenge bedtime procrastination may also be on the rise because of COVID-19 and stress associated with stay-at-home orders. Surveys have found that working from home has often extended working hours9, and women, in particular, have had a reduction in normal leisure time since the pandemic started. These factors may trigger stress and sleep procrastination and contribute to the fact that nearly 40% of people10 have had sleeping problems during the pandemic (Suni, E. 2021) .
