Impressing Baba Yaga
Impressing Baba Yaga A Slavic Island Tale By Litnich --------- "Master of monsters!" "Oh great champion!" "Fight king!!" Cries from adoring fans ring out into the crisp fall air. A towering, broad figure found easily in the midst if the crowd- the keeper of the monsters of legend. He charmingly crows out to his admirers, flexing along with his famous monster trio- Voltaik, General Thetys, and Barbatos. A distinctly smaller figure can be seen awkwardly fidgeting beside the heroes- adjusting her glasses with one hand, the other arm full of books. "Janna!" The large male bellows "Ah-uhuh? Yes sir?" She cowers, startled "It's time." "B-but sir! Baba Yaga-" she cuts off, rummaging through the pages of one of her books, she starts to read an excerpt- "Halt those words Janna! Do you not believe in me?" "Of course I do sir.. surely with all these admirers you will be successful. Not one could possibly dislike you." The champion grunts in agreement, commanding the crowd aside as he and Janna make their way to the infamous Baba Yaga's hut- a place few dare go, fearful to be lured by the rocky siren into her hut- a place from which none return. The crowd gathers behind them chanting words of encouragement, within these words though, some offer ominous warnings of the events to come. "Sir, it appears this is the one, rather quaint if I do say so myself- allow me to" Janna begins "Silence! This is my moment. I will conquer the soul of Baba Yaga, I will gain her unwavering protection" the champion declares triumphantly, stepping forward into the hut. Janna quickly rushes behind him trying to offer last warnings and advice but she is again silenced- "Speak no more, Janna. You may only observe history being made. You shall write great tales of me, such as those in your books of monsters, now come- it is time." She sits quietly in her pot, thoroughly analyzing the pair entering her hut. She shuffles slightly, a few rocks tipping from her pot and clattering onto the floor. In a raspy, crude tone she squawks at the pair- "What brings you here, to the great with Baba Yaga's hut? What dare you disturb me for?" She glares, licking her lips in preparation for a meal. The champion goes on head held high as he looks down upon Baba Yaga, explaining his many adventures, achievements, and how he is completely adored by all- Janna resting on her knees, looking at the floor to display respect. After a long winded explanation, the champion coos, "So Baba Yaga, I expect your protection is now mine? I am the master of all monsters after all. Join me." "Fool!" She cackles, "It may be easy to attain the admiration of others, but I am Baba Yaga! Do not dare compare me, such insolence! Now you shall suffer the consequences, you shall make for a good sna-" "WAIT!" Janna yells, still staring at the floor, she lowers her head more, bowing to Baba Yaga, "My lady, please forgive the young master, he has an ego, but I assure you he is of great talent. I have assisted him throughout the years, because of him I've been able to discover many new creatures and write of them. We heard of you my lady, and your tale is the most fascinating of all, you cannot blame him for desiring such attention from a witch with a tale like yours." Baba Yaga settles in her pot, "Tell me of your story." The champion begins once more "NOT YOU! The girl." Janna peers up surprised, and begins to tell Baba Yaga of her exploits. Upon the end of her tale, Baba Yaga smirks, "I do not like many. No, not many at all. Until now, not any. But you, my dear, I shall protect. I shall assist you in your adventures, and be by your side through as you write of all the monsters here in Monster Legends. And for you, I shall spare that lug beside you." Janna was shocked, tears slipped from her eyes, "Thank you my lady, it will be an honor to work beside you". "It ended just as I planned, I, the kind champion, allowing my assistant to capture admiration as we-YOW!" the champion began, halted by Baba Yaga smacking his head. Thus Janna, Baba Yaga, and the champion went forward, gathering tales of each monster to record, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Monster Legends.

We Will Have Been
There's something beautiful about being forgotten. Something powerful. Something mysteriously alluring. That when the whole world is gone there will be small traces, soft whispers of what once was. That even if no one knows, or no one is around to- that we were. Matter is not created nor destroyed- we will be a strong standing secret of all we held. Our memories, our love, our passion, they will breathe life to an aura unlike any other, and even if forgotten- we will be there. Even when everything is gone, we will have been. We will have been, even if no one knows, we will have been.

Anxiety/Panic Attack
I am eerily aware of my breath, and the thumping in my chest that threatens to collapse its surroundings. With each beat I quake. With each gasp for air my body curls. I pour out my soul through streaking tears. The rain pours, and thunder cracks through the sky. The sky will clear up again, and I will be able to open myself to the world once more, but right now it is impossible to recover. So I will wait out my storm.

I'm Good Enough
If I wasn't good enough for you then- I'm too good for you now. I repeat to myself over and over. If I wasn't good enough for you then- I'm too good for you now. Again. If I wasn't good enough for you then- I'm too good for you now. Again. Again. Again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Maybe I'll start to think it's true. Maybe it'll stop aching. Maybe I'll stop trying to forgive the way you treated me, maybe I'll forgive myself for having the strength to step away when I was hurt. Because it wasn't okay- but I am. I'm not a bad person. It wasn't my fault. I tried. If I wasn't good enough for you then- I'm too good for you now.
