“well you aren’t wrong there – the people in this school are morons.” laura stated simply.

Victor grinned slightly at the scene before him. A boy was being rather aggressive about asking the girl out and she was having none of it. While Victor could appreciate an aggressive approach he also knew that you except the consequences when it goes wrong. Sure enough he heard her threat to punch the guy and laughed as the boy fled with his tail between his legs. “Nicely done. Though if I were you I would have actually punched him. Just in case.” Most teachers didn’t condone violence between their students, but then again, he wasn’t most teachers.

laura looked up at the teacher before chuckling softly. “i’m pretty sure that you are supposed to be telling me off for threatening a student.” she said before crossing her arms over her chest. “hey not that i mind – i love punching people.”

David’s eyes went wide at the sight of the metal claws leaving her hands. “That is-…impressive but also slightly horrifying,” he replied. “I mean horrifying in a-…a good way? If that makes sense. Does it hurt when you do that?” he asks, nodding his head towards her hands.

“i didn’t think that there was a good version of horrifying.” she said with a soft smile before nodding. “like a bitch, but i heal quickly so the pain goes away.”

As the danger room scenario played out around them, Bobby scanned the area around him. As he spotted a sentenial coming up on Laura Kinney, he jolted forwards, spraying an ice wall between her and it. He knew she could handle herself; he’d seen her in training many times, too many to think she was unable to fight. No, he knew she was plenty able. But teamwork was everything here. 

He stood beside her, glancing at her as he said, “I’ve got your back, you got mine?”

laura got a shiver when  she felt the cold ice radiating off of the wall that bobby had just created. the boy knew that she could handle herself, like she knew that bobby could too but it was nice, the protection. the girl looked over at him and gave him a soft smirk before letting her claws push out of her knuckles and charging for the sentinal that was now coming for bobby, jamming her claws into its neck before dropping down the the ground along with its head.

            “i’ve got your back.”

John was sitting in the library, a building that was separate from the main mansion of living quarters and classrooms. Similar to the cafeteria (that had been built when the numbers of students and staff had kept increasing and a single kitchen became too small to feed all the needy mouths), it was its own entity on campus, but a short enough walk on the 1,000 acre joint grounds of the sistering schools.

He was grumbling under his breath, but unaware he was doing so. He’d been getting terrible sleep despite his daily workouts with classmates and Professor Cu, and was finding it absurdly impossible to concentrate on statistics or geometry or whatever the hell was sitting in front of him (he was so delirious that he forgot his class schedule, which didn’t help his ill-temperament one bit). He sighed and looked up from his paper. While wondering why he gave up his quiet bedroom (filled with hundreds of distractions and a comfy, toasty bed), he looked across the room and made eye contact with someone who also looked up right in that instance. His face didn’t change one bit. He stared for a moment, lip slightly curled up in a scowl (more at the situation than student), and lowered his gaze again. He groaned and sat back in his chair, this time looking up at the ceiling as if asking God for something else, anything else to do.

laura loved it when it was quiet, so she often found herself here, in the library. there were barely any students in the large room, they were probably all off trying to have fun or being idiots. laura hadn’t been to a real school before so since she’d started attending this one, she’d kept to herself, not knowing how to act around anyone.

the girl sighed as she looked down at the geometry book in front of her. it all just looked like scribbles to her. laura had eventually become bored of attempting to study and found herself looking around the room, quickly turning her eyes away when she made direct eye contact with one of the other students in the room.

Douglass was looking a way that he had honestly never looked before - a sweaty mess. Doug was not an beefy guy; he saw not need to be. Brains over brawn and all that jazz. However, ever since that huge ordeal with the Shadow King, he couldn’t help but feel like maybe he needed to be able to defend himself in a fight. So here he was in a training room, throwing fists at a punching bag.

With each hit, he regretted skipping out on Miss Chavez’ PE class. His precision was fine, but Doug’s was tight at best and scrawny at worst. There was someone else that came in while he was in there, but he tried to ignore them. Geez, he hated exercising with people nearby. He hated exercise in general, but when there was someone else in there crushing 100 lb weights, he could feel a bit inferior.

He started punching a little harder and faster, but he could tell the person was still back there. Why the hell is this so hard? he thought. Douglass readjusted his fist incorrectly between punches and hit the bag, hurting his thumb in the process. “Fu-!” He quickly turned to the person that was in there, angry, more at himself that at them, but still they were watching him at a time when he didn’t feel  particularly proud of himself. “Hey, step up or get out, dickweed!”

laura sat on one of the weight benches as she tied up one of her shoelaces, the girl kept to herself most of the time, especially when she was working out. its not like the girl needed to work out, hell she was gifted with enhanced strength and she already knew how to fight but it kept her distracted and she liked it.

the girl raised a brow when she turned around and notice another yelling at himself before yelling at her. laura scoffed slightly before standing up and crossing her arms over her chest. 

“your stance is wrong thats why your punches are weak.” she simply stated. “and if i step up, you’ll end up in the hospital wing.”

“Yeah…It’s pretty horrible,” David replies. Although at least now he knows that not all the words thrown around inside his head are aimed at him. “So what is your thing? Since it’s not reading peoples minds.”

laura gave a soft smile before holding her hand in a fist and bringing it up so that he could see it. the girl took a break before letting the metal claws push out of her hands. “i have claws.” she simply said.

“Right, well… Are you still grumpy?” Warren dared to ask but was ready to flutter away if she did try and hurt him. He had no doubt she could, “Because if I’m still at risk for a throat punch, I’ll just keep walking.”

“not so much anymore –– you’re not at risk as long as you don’t do anything stupid.”

Another low growl reverberated from his chest - he was going to have to have a serious talk with Cu. They were spending too much time together if he was picking up dog traits - and whipped around. “And when they’re laying dead, empty eyes staring into your shattering heart, is that when you want them to learn?” 

His voice was tight, hands curling into fists at his side. Curls filled his sight and his breath caught in his throat as he saw Lucy’s body on the floor, blood staining the carpet. Rowan felt angry tear prick his eyes and without another word, left the room with the door slamming shut behind him. 

the girl couldn’t help but scoff. she couldn’t stand it when people were rude to kids. “god you are more of an ass than i thought.” laura stated before crossing her arms over her chest. “yes we just went through something terrible and yes there is a chance that it will happen again but yelling at them isn’t going to change anything –– not everyone learns but being screamed at.”

Douglass hated most all of his foreign language classes. He was fine during down-times if he could chat it up with some fluent speaker in the class since there was always at least one, but during lectures or assignments, he’d just blow through it and have to listen to the teacher talking to some idiot who was butchering the whole language. 

“Senor Diaz, puedo salir?” he groaned impatiently. He turned to the teenager that Diaz was helping. “No importa si te concentras, porque eres un bobo y la mejor parte is you probably don’t even know half the words that came out of my mouth.”

“douglass leave the boy alone.” marcos said as he looked over at the other before dismissing the student that he was helping. “no todos son tan hábiles como tú con los idiomas.”

He could feel a headache coming on - all he wanted was some food and now, now he was here. Despite his discomfort he refused to be cowed by this small girl. “Most mutants can crush a bug without moving from their chair. With all the attacks going on, fear is a liability that we can’t afford." 

Shaking his head, Rowan decided this conversation was over and that he had waited long enough for food. Despite his words, he was very grateful it had only been a spider and not something worse. He needed a break - if he’d known kids were more difficult, he may have stayed in the torturing business. Liar, a voice that sounded suspiciously like Kimberly whispered. Stoutly ignoring his consciences, Rowan began to head towards the kitchen.  

“a lot of these mutants are also under the age of eleven –– give them a break.” laura said. usually she would be the one telling people to toughen up and get on with it but she hated it when people were mean to kids, especially after what she’d been through.

The feathers were ruffled at the threat and Warren stepped away from the other student. She was feisty and while he had some healing power… He could still feel pain, “Okay! okay… I was just going to tell you that your underwear is showing.” 

“as long as its not my whole ass then i’m sure that i’ll survive.” the girl said before pulling up her pants slightly and pulling down her shirt.

Angel crossed hew own arms, mimicking the girls own body language, “Then prove you didn’t. I haven’t heard anything out of your mouth aside from threats and sass either, and it doesn’t give me any confidence to believe in you.” Trust wasn’t just given, it was earned. The girl wanted to not be in trouble? Prove she wasn’t. Though at the mention of tattling, Angel just smirked and shrugged “Prove you didn’t do it and you won’t have to deal with him. But there’s not just my finger pointing your direction. Prove the other student a liar and you’re off the hook, but if not then I’m inclined to believe him as a witness.”

“go and search my room, if you find any drugs then i will give you permission to burn off my hair you psycho.” laura easily stated. the lady standing in front of her was far from scary in her eyes. “if you threaten me then i threaten you – plus i’m not a fan of being accused of things i would never do.”
