An Open Letter to Tumblr about the Adult Content Ban and How it is Hurting Your Users:

Recently, Tumblr was removed from the Apple app store due to an incident involving child pornography. This incident is incredibly unfortunate, but it doesn’t stand alone. Tumblr was also removed from the app store due to the large influx of porn bots and pornographic spam, users claiming to be proud to be pedophiles, blatant Nazism, racists who are not deleted for sending hate and harassing users, and more. I myself reported someone for harassing me, but because I had blocked the person and couldn’t access the messages where they harassed me, they were still able to send me anonymous asks. Your support staff, with back doors to the website (presumably), claimed they could not access the messages, and I was left SOL. Many features on this website do nothing to actually protect your users from harassment, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazis, pedophiles, predators, porn bots, and more. 

You claim in your statement to us that you “have been working on these problems for a long time”. This is blatantly untrue. Please do not lie to us and patronize us. We’ve been here. We’ve seen you do nothing over, and over, and over again. 

We complained to you for months and months about the rampant porn bots, and you did nothing except add a report button on mobile which only reported sensitive content or spam at best. You could have addressed this problem with an effective algorithm, but you did not. We complained to you about being harassed and sent hate speech for being LGBT+, and you did nothing. We complained to you about blogs being randomly deleted, and sometimes you’ve restored them, other times you have not. We complained to you that there were people proudly claiming to be “Minor Attracted Persons”, or pedophiles, and you did nothing. We complained to you about people proudly claiming to be white supremacists, and you did nothing. All of these things are “against the community guidelines”, and yet over and over, you have not found effective ways to handle these problems or suppress the feeling of welcome that these users claim to get here. You have had a long time to work on these problems, but you haven’t addressed them. To say you have is untrue. 

 Multiple other social networking websites, such as Wordpress, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and others have effectively dealt with rampant pornography, racism, pedophilia, and other problems without causing massive issues for their users who are not misusing the platform. They are continuing to find new, effective ways to deal with these issues without causing problems for their userbase as a whole.  There is no reason that you are unable to do this effectively other than that you wanted to do it quickly. You have once again chosen your stock holders over your users. And we have had enough. 

You have already started to ban “Adult” content with a new algorithm. Here are screenshots of just a fraction of the posts you have flagged as containing adult content:

Your new system of simply tackling everything at once is not working. At all. And each of these screenshots is proof of your utter incompetence. None of these posts contain pornographic acts, “female nipples”, or any community violation of any kind. 

We, the users, have been asking you for months to deal with these problems - particularly, the porn bots and bots that spam. In order to block a bot from a side blog, I have to do it manually, even though they are in my side blog’s feed. This is a huge issue for mobile - only users. They keep cropping up in droves, taking over our posts and tricking google into making it look like a legitimate blog linked to a pornographic website. We have complained to you for months and months now, and your solution to simply “ban all adult content” is ineffective. I agree that children should not be able to access pornography - but this is not how you tackle a porn bot problem. Your system is utterly useless, allows for racists, pedophiles, porn bots, and Nazis to remain untouched. It also harms sex workers and real people who may use this website for some forms of adult content responsibly. Moreover, as seen above, it harms plenty of users who have in no way violated your terms of service.

 If you keep this up, you threaten your website and company as a whole. Many of us are backing up our blogs and planning places to go to. 

You already have a content filter for “sensitive” content (content inappropriate for younger viewers). You could have improved this, instead of attacking your entire user base. It seems to be a very lazy “solution”, if you could call it one at all, and one that harms your entire userbase.

If you are going to keep this filter in place and make Tumblr, a website that has never been known for being family friendly and has never claimed to be, you are going to lose millions of your users. We are already planning our exodus. It isn’t hard to follow. Censor us, and we will go somewhere else. That is not a threat. It is a promise.

The scene of the battle is Destiny Islands, and rather then use their keyblades, Nort-Sora picks up a wooden sword and throws one right in front of Riku to fight just like they used to. Nort-sora purposely does this as part of his plan to get under Rikus skin and make him hurt.

The battle begins and as the wooden swords are clashing, Nort-sora strategically tries to get into Rikus head , not by taunting him but by taunting Sora as nothing hurts him more then what has hurt Sora. Therefore Nort-sora would menacingly do things such as mock the softness that Sora would utter Rikus name with as it humored him greatly that there was no saving him. How pathetic Soras tears and anguish were in his last few moments fighting the darkness in his heart. How the last image in his head was of a silver haired boy who failed to guard him and left him all alone. 

All of these attempts fail to successfully take Riku off guard. All but the mention of the promise that was made in the form of a necklace. This stuns Riku momentarily and Nortsora seeing this uses it to his advantage to summon his keyblade and make an attack that leaves Riku falling to the ground. Unable to make another move. 

Standing in front of Riku, Nortsora removes the necklace from around his neck and into his hand, laughing at how heavy broken promises are to carry and throws it onto the floor before stepping on it and walking away. Riku looks at the broken pieces of the necklace in complete shock, shaking as he gathers the pieces in a tight fist and close to his chest, mourning the loss of a friend he failed to protect.

NortSora thought by breaking the necklace he’ll break Riku? Well it nearly did BUT Riku had wallowed in self pity those past years enough to be literally sick of it. Even more so if Sora is suffering because of it ! So Riku hurts but Sora is hurting more and that’s what really matters, despite how unhealthy this mindset is according to the others. He trains, harder, he had to reach Sora next time.

NortSora makes multiple appearances in front of people he saved, people who trusted him. They’re devastated and some even got deceived into condemning their own worlds, like Agraba or Atlantica. When Ariel ends up in Traverse Toxn this wasn’t hiw she had believed Sora would have make her see other worlds.

Riku makes a point of seeing each one of them to make sure they would not blame him. Even trying to put the blame on him if need be.

What really turn the tide is an idle conversation with Uncle Scrooge. The richest duck in the world was thanking Riku for Saving his first dive. Riku who saw how viciously he fought for a simple dime and he inquired about it. Scrooge explained that his dime was his most precious treasure. It taught him the value of work, and of determination. But wasn’t it lonely to let money take such an important part of his life? The duck smiled with a far off look. « You may see only money in there. But to me every penny in there is a memento of my adventures. When I look at them I feel every emotion I felt when I first got it. No one can take that away. »

If what the old duck said was true for him, was there still a chance to bring back Sora that way? He was looking at the broken pendant. He could see it clearly, the way Sora had clung to him like there was nothing else. How he tought that fear didn’t suit him. How he’d naively believe that he’ll always be there for Sora. Maybe he hadn’t but he still can be, as long they were still something left to remind them of that night they was no way Sora nor himself could leave that night behind. Could ignore what bring them together. After reaching that conclusion the fragment started to glow and a new Keyblade was created. One with the sole purpose to save each other from the darkness trying to destroy their bond.

When Riku meet NortSora again it’s in the Beast castle. They are in the ballroom, because of course NortSora like the others had a flair for the dramatic. When Riku summon Heartschain he laughs at him. What’s that stupid looking keyblade? Did he take a liking to recycling ? But Riku can not be deterred. He knows the real strength of his Keyblade, of his heart and of Sora’s heart. At first NortSora seems to dominate the fight. He is relentless on Riku, attacking his mind and his heart. Riku hold his ground. He knows what he has to do. « I haven’t renounce my promise yet, Sora. » NortSora is taken bu surprise and Riku seize the opportunity and drag them on Destiny Island. NortSora gets up slowly and he see Riku standing in front of the paopu tree.

« Will you promise me something in return ? »

he asks Sora’s heart, still asleep inside Xeharnort’s darkness.

« For as long I’ll be protecting you please always return to me. »

NortSora doesn’t says anything. He starts to doubt his chance of winning unscathed. He feels something when Riku makes his demand. Hesitation, doubt, fears. He can’t feel those things. Those feelings are Sora’s. But maybe as long those feelings are so negative he can keep controlling the boy. So he start throwing in Riku’s face every mistake he ever made. Not to destabilize Riku but to keep Sora Subdued.

« You can’t protect me ! You couldn’t protect yourself ! »

Every time Riku shout back at him promises and repent.

« I only make mistakes because I lost sight of you. That’s why I need you to guide me! »

NortSora enraged and Sora grew more conflicted, still afraid to believe in Riku.

« I’ve been torn apart and to fix me you only cause more harm to others ! How can I allow you to protect me if you’re gonna destroys other to do so? »

« I did what I had to. I’m not happy with everything I did, but I won’t say I’m sorry. I rather have you hate me than let harm come your way. »

The Shipper’s Dilemma: “Canon is Superior”

Due to not having the motivation to break down on some other KH theories atm, I’m doing the next best thing, discussing the KH fandom (and fandom culture in general) and a trend I’ve noticed permeating from even my earliest days in the fandom.

The thing that brought this to my attention was a conversation about certain RokuShi shippers in the RokuNami Discord. For those of you not up to date in fandom drama, there’s been some…issues between the RokuNami and RokuShi shippers since the Kingdom Hearts 2.8 credits “made RokuNami canon.” RokuShi shippers rioting, declaring their ship canon and citing Days. RokuNami shippers bragging about their ship being canon and citing KH2 and the 2.8 credits. Then the stuff like “RokuNami is incest” stuff started, but we’re not going to get into that here. Needless to say however, everything that happened made me start to think: Why are we fighting over which ship is canon?

Canon means that some scenario writer (In this case Tetsuya Nomura) decided that they wanted the ship in their story, but that doesn’t mean it’s the superior ship. Writers make some decision and that doesn’t mean you have to suddenly stop enjoying the ship you do for no other reason than somebody else decided they didn’t like it. Yet every person in the argument seems to be waving canon around like it’s the word that proves they’re right and their ship is better…yet it doesn’t.

This isn’t a recent phenomena, it dates back to the SoKai vs SoRiku and AkuRoku vs RokuNami days of fandom as well. And it needs to stop. It doesn’t matter whether you’re on the canon side or the not canon side. All the people back in the day who cited a false claim that Nomura wanted AkuRoku in but Disney said no didn’t prove that AkuRoku was the better ship, just like the people claiming SoKai and RokuNami in the 2.8 credits or the people picking out lines from the novels showing RokuShi are proving their ship is better now.

People are going to ship based on the ships that resonate with them, and tearing down other people’s ships or showing exactly why your ship is canon won’t change people’s opinions. And people need to stop acting as such either and just ship things they enjoy, regardless of whether or not there’s a chance these ships will ever go canon. 

Because canon doesn’t mean quality, it just means the content in the games that we see. And people acting like it does become the claim to convince everybody to ship it and gathering evidence to prove canonicity when it doesn’t even matter is what sparks ship wars in the first place.

DAY 4 : Soulmates

For this one I thought to myself: How do I screw them over the most? And then I remember a post I saw a few days ago about a soulmate AU where you can’t see the color of your soulmates eyes until you see them. And then I remembered that they both wear colored contacts lenses… In this one, Gundham has contact on both eyes and has black eyes and Kazuichi’s are brown. Enjoy.

Kazuichi couldn’t see the color black. It was weird since black was the absence of light and, by logic, of color but Kazuichi couldn’t perceived black. Instead of black he could only see white. Usually when you haven’t met your soulmate you the color you can’t perceive appear black to you, but apparently Kazuichi mate had black eyes, and it was seriously annoying.

In school he used to not be able to read what the teacher wrote on the blackboard unless they took colored chalk. He couldn’t used normal book, he had to use special one with colored ink. And inf most signs in big cities considered people with his condition he smaller town he was left directionless. However, when he was looking at the oil that covered the ground of the workshop it looked like snow and he was the only one who could see it and it felt special. Still he wondered what black looked like. And he’d like to be able to buy a regular book.

Hope’s Peak was more considerate of his condition than his previous school been. They however questioned Kazuichi about one aspect: why would he chose to wear colored contact lenses when they were a hindrance to find one’s soulmate?

The thing is, for you to find your soulmate you had to see their eyes as they truly are. It was completely unfair to blind people, but it also means if you look at them and they were wearing sunglasses or colored contact lenses well he wouldn’t work. However, in case of contact lenses they could still see your real eyes color and so they could identify you and they just had to take off the contact to let you know they’re your soulmate. So, for Kazuichi it was acceptable. Hinata once joked that if their soulmates were also wearing colored contact he was screwed, but what were the odds of it ever happening?

Truth is, Kazuichi hated everything that caused him to be boring or annoying and what’s more boring than more than common brown eyes? So the day he started coloring his hair and putting these lenses on he swear that the only one he would let see his true eye color would be his soulmate when he’ll find them.

It was an usual day for the class 77-B when their teacher made a special announcement.

“We’re going on a school – trip! To reinforce the teamwork of all the student the schoolboard privatized the Jabberwock Island, you don’t have to pay for any of it.”

The class cheered when hearing the news.

“However, we’re a lot of student and since the whole point is to bring everyone closer… You are to share rooms. I already made the pair, you can find the list on my desk. Kazuichi, as usual it’s printed in blue, so you can read it.”

As soon Yukizome – sensei finish the student mad a beeline to see their rooming partner.

Teruteru seemed delighted to be paired with Nidai, gosh he hoped the bathroom door had lock for the other sake. Miss Sonia and Nanami where paired together, Hinata and Komaeda were together, probably because they are soulmates. He finally got the list, he was paired up with Gundham?!

“Hum miss, Is it possible to change?” He asked tentatively.

“No.” She was smiling but it didn’t reach her eyes. The message was clear, do not discuss it. So Kazuichi will be stuck with the breeder. He didn’t dislike the other, he was just unnerved by him. He had tried to interact with but every time it felt like there was something off, not with the other but with the situation. And he was going to feel like that for…

“Wait, how long is it going to be ?” he asked their teacher.

“A month.”

A whole month?!

The island was fantastic, and the bungalow were nice too. (The bathroom door had no lock, you have all my sympathy Nidai). Thankfully there were twin bed so they would have some space for themselves. Kazuichi had the bad habit to kick in his sleep, it would have ended badly.

“Hey Gundham, what bed do you prefer?”

“I do not have a preference, you may do as you like Sharped – tooth one.”

“Okay, then I’ll take the one by the window.” He dropped his bag on the bed and when he turned Gundham was taking care of his hamster.

“Are they going to be alright with this heat?”

“The Devas had followed to the hottest part of hell, it would be only a minor inconvenience to them as long as I don’t let my guard down.” said the other one.

“And you’re going to keep your scarf?” Gundham looked at him like he said something stupid. “Okay suit yourself.”

After they made themselves comfortable Kazuichi grabbed his swimsuit and headed to the pool. Miss Sonia, Mahiru, Mikan, Mitarai, The Ultimate Usurper were already in the pool with some class 78th student, there was the model, the swimmer and the scary big one. Kazuichi Jumped into the water and swam to his classmates. A while later he heard the model whistling.

“Not bad.” She said. He heard a dismissive grunt from whoever she told that. “Hmpf, rude.”

Kazuichi turned and saw Gundham. Wow it was a nice view. He knew Gundham was good looking but he never saw him without a shirt on. Shit, it was going to be a long month.

3RD NIGHT

“I tried to ignore it but I must ask: what is his foolishness?” asked Gundham as he was standing in front of Kazuichi. Or it sounded he was in front of him. Kazuichi couldn’t see with his sleeping mask on.

“What do you mean?”

“Why are you impairing your vision every time you got out of the bathroom before going to rest?”

The truth is it was the only way to make sure Gundham couldn’t see his eyes, but hell if he was going to admit it.

“To put me in the mood.” He said as serious as he could.

“Stop with this dangerous ritual before harm comes your way.” Said the breeder grunting.

“Hey! If you can keep the scarf, I get to keep the mask.” He heard nothing for a while then heard a sigh.

“Suit yourself.”

DAY 15th

He ran into the infirmary with a delirious Gundham. Mikan who had been treating a sunburn on Fuyuhiko.

“What the fuck happened here?” he screamed at Kazuichi.

“What do you think? He ended up overheating because of that stupid scarf!”

“O-oh n-no! P-put him there! I’ll H-help him right a-away.” She started opening a fridge and she returned with a pack of ice. “I need you to u-undress him…”

“What?!” they both screamed.

“I’m sorry! But we need to get his clothes off!” the boys grunted but they did the embarrassing task. Kazuichi felt like he was going to overheat himself. Mikan put the Ice-pack on his face and proceeded to cool him off. Ten minutes later she said relieved that Gundham’s temperature dropped. She kept him on observation and asked them to leave. Kazuichi will not let his roommate live it down.

NIGHT 21

Kazuichi had an excellent day. They had a class competition on the beach today between class 77th – A and class 77th-B. Thanks to miss Sonia leadership and their own individual skill they won fair and square and put him in an excellent but drained mood. He put his sleeping mask on and exited the bathroom to go to bed. He felt Gundham watching him still expecting him to fall. Ah he didn’t even stumble his toe since the first night, as if he was going to fall now-

The ground was hard and warm. He felt bit of sand they dragged inside under his cheek. He started to hiss in pain and felt his mask slipping but didn’t register it. He heard Gundham footstep running to him.

“I warned you about your foolishness it was bound to end this way.”

Kazuichi got on his knees and open his eyes without thinking about it. Everything was blurry at first but then he was looking at Gundham’s dark eyes. He must have taken his contacts off while Kazuichi was in the bathroom.

“Don’t look!” He screamed closing his eyes again, but unlike other time instead of white he saw something he never saw before. He opened his eyes again, he saw black! He run to the window and look at the sky. He never could see the stars before it was beautiful. But if he could see black, that would mean…

He turned to Gundham who was looking at the ground completely in shock. Kazuichi realized the ground was brown so it made sense. He grabbed the others arm gently and made him sit on the bed. They looked at each other and Kazuichi said:

“I can’t believe Hinata got that right.”

Gundham let out a small chuckle, then he started to laugh, not his Overlord of Ice laugh but I can’t believe it laugh. They laid back at their bed and laughed until they’re out of breath.

LAST DAY

They spend the rest of the vacation to get comfortable with their bond. They spend their free time together and the other joked about a honeymoon phase. They weren’t wrong when they see the settings they got. They were finishing to pack their stuff. Gundham was struggling to close his suit case when Kazuichi hugged him from behind.

It was nice to finally have this little piece put in place, when their classmate found out they were stupefied. Hiyoko poked fun at them to actually manage to take this long to figure it out. But Kazuichi couldn’t care less. He was more than happy with how it happened, and it couldn’t wait to be back home a continue his relationship with Gundham. He felt the four Dark Devas jump on his head to get to Gundham scarf. By the sound of it Gundham was ready to go. Kazuichi let go of him and grabbed his hand instead. They left the bungalow way more happier that they expected to be when they learned they had to share it. Fate or in this case Yukizome – sensei really made a wise choice by forcing them to cohabit.

DAY 3 : Talent Swap

I don’t have time to write a fic today so I’ll just do Headcanons!

-Gundham first got into mechanics not through cars but through ghost hunting show. Soon enough he was building his own IR lightbox and other essential tool to hunt the paranormal.

-Hope’s Peak discover him thanks to vlog and article he made about his research. Like in canon he considers his main talent to be his link to the spiritual world and not his mechanics.

-Kazuichi first start taking care of animal in primary school. He found a small squirrel who was nearly dying of hypothermia. He managed to warm him up.

-Animal doesn’t like him at first, but he was too stubborn to renounce. He counts on his instinct to understand them and what not to do.

-When they first meet Gundham was investigating the farm because he noticed a cat fixing a wall without moving. When Kazuichi asked what he was doing Gundham told him that animals had a better perception of the supernatural than human and he was checking if there wasn’t any ghost in here. Kazuichi reacted as well as you may imagine.

-Gundham get used to ‘take for a walk’ some animals when he went ghost hunting. Kazuichi called it straight up kidnapping. When Gundham won the affection of the four hamster he was taking care of he ranted about it to anyone who would listen the month that followed.

-Kazuichi name the animals after super sentai show he watch as a kid.

-When Gundham took a liking to Kazuichi he started to drag him along in his ghost hunt under the pretense that the animals would be more reassured if the Ultimate breeder were with them.

-When Kazuichi started to like him back he started to invite him when he had to travel to far away countries like Argentina or Kenya ‘if he wanted to see the spirits of these places by himself’.

-Everyone except the main concerned saw right through it and quite seriously couldn’t believe it how dense they were.

-As ultimate despair (Yes I’m doing it!) Gundham used his technology to build Monokuma at Junko’s demand, but, he also used his ghost hunting tool to prove the existence of ghost and demons and show that even in the after life you couldn’t escape despair. And giant robot too. Because to have ghost you first need dead people, preferably people who died suddenly and painfully, and a giant robot filled the part nicely.

-Kazuichi on the other hand took a liking of creating a human zoo that would be visited only by animals and human safari where they would end up trampled to death or eaten alive.

-It’s during that time they ‘got together’ if you can call it that. It was an abusive relationship driven by the belief the other didn’t reciprocated their own feeling. The other Ultimate despair who knew better were delighted to watch the show.

-In the Neo world program their first meeting goes a bit differently. They are introduced to each other on the beach but they don’t really talk up until Gundham surprised Kazuichi trying to get in the Old Lodge before they got the permission from Usami. He warns him about angering the spirits (as he thought Usami to be one) and they soon fall back in their old habit.

-In his version Gundham uses his talents with mechanics to kill Nidai. The rest goes the same except for the fact that Chihiro was alive in his version and they were the one to restore their avatar because ‘Seriously guys the data doesn’t just disappear in thin air’.

-When they woke up their relationship is in shambles. Kazuichi didn’t remember what he did as ultimate despair but Gundham did and couldn’t handle what he did to him and what Kazuichi did to him too. Is the second one who died to woke up after Mikan. As soon as he is up and about he joined force with Chihiro to wake the others, and to avoid Kazuichi.

-Kazuichi feel pretty much abandoned between Hinata who’s not completely himself and Gundham who refuse to interact with him he’s left alone to discover what he did as a Ultimate despair.

-Kazuichi starts to go alone in Jabberwock Island wilderness to find animals who might need his help since it feels like humans doesn’t want him with them. One evening he doesn’t go back to his room.

-Owari the first to notice his absence when she saw there was one ration of the day left in the fridge. When she tells the other Everyone freaked out. Gundham was nearly excluded of the search party because he was so frantic everyone thought he was reverting back to be an Ultimate despair.

-As it turned out Kazuichi was one miles behind the ruins of the farm, helping a bear giving birth to her cub. How or why there was a bear on his island no one could tell, but it was the end of the world so it was far from the craziest thing out there.

-Gundham let his displeasure with the situation known very loudly. It escalated into a fight that ended up with him punching Kazuichi in the face and having an immediate mental breakdown when he saw the look of fear in the other eyes. Naegi and the other call Gekkohara to the rescue after that.

-It took month of therapy before Gundham agreed to shared séance with Kazuichi to open up on their relationship as Ultimate Despair. It was horrifying to Kazuichi at first, but he did his best to not show it too much in front of Gundham. After a lot of séance Kazuichi told Gundham that he was probably thinking the mechanic didn’t loved him back and it was why he agreed to be in such a toxic affair, not just to inflict despair on Gundham through abuse.

-Gundham doesn’t believe him at first, but when he talks about it with Sonia and Mahiru the two confirm what Kazuichi said.

-Two years after the start of his therapy Gundham properly confess to Kazuichi and they start to date. They chose to take things slowly and they continue to see Gekkohara.

-Gundham started to develop machines that’ll work with exorcism to free all the spirits that were created by the Incident as well than rehabilitate energy central and communication.

-Kazuichi tamed some animal to help with repaired and rescue to compensate the places when they lacked material and technology until his lover could construct the machine necessary.

-They married ten years after the Incident in New Novoselic, Sonia is the one that marry them of course. Hinata is Kazuichi’s witness and Gekkohara is Gudham’s since Sonia can’t play two roles at once.

And that should be it! I’m finishing school at 1:30 pm tomorrow so I’ll have more time to write but I may do headcanons again to start working on Day 5. Anyway, hoped you enjoyed!
