F-finally..summer is here..-!

I suppose so, everyone has been a bit um..quite lately 

Everyone getting desperate

Little ice cubes || Margo and Nora

The prospect of leaving campus with someone she hardly knew was almost a daunting prospect to the petite girl. Though she had yet to really explore Alabama out of Culver Creek - mainly because she was almost afraid of going too far from the hospital -, she had surprised herself by agreeing to do so with a almost complete stranger. 

Even if the brunette seemed nice, what if something happened, what if it was a prank that alot of the students were so used to pulling on each other here. But she seemed genuine. Someone longing for adventure, to explore an escape the grounds that kept them captive like zoo animals with the Eagle always keeping watch. 

"S-So..how often do you go out of the grounds?" Nora asked hesitantly as the two girls made their way to Margo's car.

Looping her arms around herself, the girls eyes stayed almost glued with fascination on their surroundings. A habit of hers; she always had found the world to be something of great beauty and something she didn't want to miss a second of. Though as much as she liked to admire the ever changing scenery she wasn't rude now selfish, so as Miles began to spoke again Nora turned her attention back to him. "Alaska?" Nora said looking up at him before nodding. "She's nice, pretty too." The blue haired girl nodded with a small smile. 

Pausing a few times to pick up a leave or a flower, the girl held them protectively in her finger tips managing to catch Miles up with ease only stopping briefly when she did. Her fingers running of the leaves, the colours even in this lighting were intriguing to her. Nora's mother had often called her something of a mouth or little scavenger, always looking for something to fill her sketch books. Searching for objects that she could look over and it would bring back a better time, searching for memories and to capture the time is had. 

His question brought her out of her little bubble, flinching slightly as his words disturbed the silence. "W-What do I like to do for f-fun?" Nora repeated looking up at him trying to think. "Um..I explore t-the woods alot..um, paint..draw..sculpt, sew..photograph..anything to try and capture m-my thoughts..dreams..hopes..fears.. my memories, different stories. Moments. My life is a series of moments." 

I'm a full time dreamer..trying to live while I can. "W-What about you Pudge Miles..w-what are you thoughts, hopes, dreams.." Nora said handing him one of the leaves in her small hand with a smile before slipping the rest into her small bag hitting against her leg.

He started to lead her to the old soccer field. It was a little ways a way but just walking with Nora sounded like fun. “I like to go once in a while. My friend, Alaska, showed me where it was.”

He wasn’t sure mentioning her name was the best idea, however, she was the one to have shown him. They continued past trees and the school grew smaller in the distance. The moon gave them light, ever glowing in the sky. He had always liked the nighttime; Pudge had never really found himself to be a morning person. Then again, most teenagers weren’t. 

"What do you like to do for fun?" He finally asked. He wanted to get know her better and so, he had to actually talk to her. The field had sounded like a wonderful idea at the time but he could feel the knots in his stomach. He smiled at her and tried to be as friendly as possible but he was never very good at this.

N-No you didn't. It's been um..pretty quite. M-most are revising for finals and um..yes..

Exactly. Hopefully I didn’t miss to much here this weekend though.

[little-nora]

"Not necessarily..y-you still get to be h-here so um I wouldn't c-call it lame.." Nora replied quietly with a small nod. "B-besides I t-think we can s-stay over summer to." 

"I guess so," She shrugged. "It’s a pretty lame time to come in right? Considering it’s the end of the year anyways." She shrugged, not even knowing what she was saying.

Y-Yes I do..it's nice there." Nora spoke quietly, a small nod following as if to reconfirm the words that she spoke. "A-Are you new here..?"

I always like the woods, to tell you the truth. Do you go there often? 

[ She was never one for socializing, but perhaps this girl was actually nice? She didn’t seem like a bad person or anything. ]

As her eyes fell upon the tall boy approaching she smiled slightly waving timidly in return. "Um Hi.." She murmured with a small nod as a creating. He looked nice, dressed in smart casual clothing it was apparent to Nora that he had made an effort to look presentable. Why? Well that was something she couldn't understand, it was just her he was hanging out with after all. No one special. 

Hearing his words the petite girl shrugged lightly, her smile brightening slightly as her eyes fell upon their surroundings and the prospect of adventure (even though it was no much) filled the night. "That's o-okay. I like to um..walk." Nora reassured her arms looping around herself. "You l-lead the way." She added looking up at him hesitantly. 

Their appearance together could be almost comical, with Nora being around a foot shorter than him. "Do you g-go there o-often? The uh...field I mean." Nora murmured in her usual quiet voice as she followed him to their destination.

Miles slipped into some jeans and a nice t-shirt. It was summer but he wanted to look presentable; it wasn’t everyday that he got to hang out with a cute girl. And it certainly wasn’t everyday that he had something actually interesting to show someone. Pudge always saw himself as rather uninteresting and awkward but here he was heading out to see a new friend he had made. 

He took a deep breath, inhaling the warm, summer air as he walked to the meeting spot with Nora. He was excited. He even smiled at the idea of seeing her. That wasn’t a very common feeling for him. Not even Alaska could make him feel that way. He liked it. A lot. 

As he approached their meeting place, he saw her. She stood in a loose, grey dress, with knee socks, a cardigan, and flats. It was a little warm for a cardigan but the style suit her. He waved over and smiled. 

"Hi Nora." He said. "So, the field is a little ways a way but I swear it’s nice."

T-The woods is a um..good place f-for that I find.

Oh uh…yeah, I’m fine. Just walking around. For no reason, really other than trying to clear my thoughts I guess. 

[little-nora]

I-I was just wondering if y-you um..were okay..you l-look a bit lost.

d’you say something?

[little-nora]

I j-just explore the um..grounds really...um o-okay.

W-When do you w-want to go?

Never? Well, then, look like we’re going for ice cream whether you want to or now. 

[little-nora]

Oh I-I see, y-yes it wouldn't um...be right if you didn't.

A ton. I always have fun when I see Jake though. I mean, he wouldn’t be my boyfriend if I didn’t.

Staring at the Stars || Miles and Nora

Having met Miles earlier on that day, the two had become acquainted eventually leading to him mentioning a field perfect for star gazing. Normally Nora admired the flickering lights from either her and Eta's dormroom or from the woods, but this seemed like a wonderful opportunity to a) Make a new friend and b) Find a new place to admire the twinkling stars that looked like fire fly scattered across the blanket of night. 

The evening was still, with only a refreshing breeze rippling through the leaves on the trees in the woods to send a small shiver up the petite girls spin. Deciding the weather was not too bad - after all it was a summer's evening -, Nora deciding to stay in the baggy grey dress and knee socks she was wearing earlier with her flat shoes just pulling cardigan on aswell; because knowing her she'd probably end up getting cold. She'd never been one so show her skin, mainly because of the fading scars that scattered her body from various operations; however the heat meant she hardly had much choice but to pull of the jumpers she loved to curl into. 

Wrapping her arms around herself, Nora sighed lightly running a hand over her pale face as she walked to go and meet Miles. She shouldn't be this tired. They had decided on meeting just outside the dormitories so they could go on their little adventure. Admittedly, the petite girl was looking forward to it. It was another way to get out and enjoy being here in Alabama. To experience another small part of of the Creek and get to know someone she'd hadn't, both parts of her promise to herself.

Don't hide in the shadows and live.
