Dr. Anton Mari Lim from Zamboanga, Phillippines, plays with Kabang, the hero dog from the Philippines, as she is released from the veterinary medical teaching hospital at UC Davis in Davis, Calif., on Monday, June 3, 2013. Veterinarians and care givers at UC Davis bid farewell Monday to the faceless wonder dog that drew international attention after she leaped on a speeding motorcycle and saved two girls from being run over in the Philippines.
The muzzle-less mongrel named Kabang chewed treats, tossed around a squeaky toy and wagged her tail furiously after she was given a clean bill of health by specialists at the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at UC Davis.

Chris P Bacon, a piglet born without the use of his hind legs, is seen with his new wheelchair at the Eastside Veterinary Hospital in Clermont Florida. The pigâs owner turned the piglet over to a Clermont vet who decided to help. Dr Len Lucero took the pig home and made a wheelchair for him using Kânex toy parts. Chris has outgrown the toy wheelchair, and will soon grow into his new, more permanent and rugged model.

This is a series of ads from the early 20th century right up to the 1970s.
You might notice what theyâre advertising is, instead of the weight loss solutions weâre used to today, theyâre actually advertising weight GAIN.
âItâs hard to believe they once called me skinny!â
âSkinny girls are NOT glamour girls!â
âa skinny, scarecrow figure is neither fashionable nor glamourous!â
âthousands quickly gaining beauty-bringing pounds!â
Notice how less than a hundred years ago, these ads were meant to shame thin bodies the way weight loss ads shame fat bodies today? Notice that how as time goes by, the âidealâ body shape changes from era to era? Notice how in these ads as well as those seen today, theyâre meant to make people feel bad about the way they look?
These ads are just as bad as the ones that run today. Theyâre meant to shame you and make you feel inadequate for one sole reason: so you go out and spend money on their products. Itâs not about your self esteem, your health, or your happiness. Itâs about selling the product. Itâs about making the money.Â
Your body is NOT wrong. You donât need pills, diets, or supplements to make you happy, attractive, or ârightâ. All bodies are good bodies. It doesnât matter if youâre skinny, fat, tall, short, disabled, scarred, anything at all.
Do not let the media dictate what you think you should be. The media is fickle. It does not care about you. Donât let yourself care about what it says.
Love,
Amber
