The only acceptable meaning when anti-therians say “If you act like animals, we’re gonna treat you like animals” is “decently” or “with respect (for life) and care”.
Because there is no way you find normal to kill every dogs you see, or torture and dismember all cats in your neighborhood.
Those are sick thoughts, and you shouldn’t wish them upon ANY innocent living creature, no matter what their species are.
The simple fact that you IMMEDIATELY associate “animal behavior” with “inflicting pain and killing” is just so scary and says A LOT about you as a person.
You’re the ones who should get help, because THAT is actual harmful behavior and not realizing what’s wrong with it is deeply concerning.

Therianthropy is really a unique type of existential and body horror quite honestly.
Perpetually stuck longing for experiences and abilities your body is physically incapable of providing you, fighting against a form that feels utterly foreign and disfigured compared to how your mind attempts to interpret it. An animal shoved inside a vessel and society it was never meant to even have knowledge of, with no obtainable means of escape.
The horror of always appearing to those around you as something almost alien to yourself, of your own tendons and bones barring you from grasps at freedom, of being something you are not.

I need a physical shapeshifting so bad, quadrobics aren't the same since my body can't run all on four due to my bad condition and weak bones. I wanna run and be wild, feel the wind in my fur, ears. Feel the grass between my paws. Running faster than humans. The urge to shapeshift is so distressful sometimes.

Legit the reason I found out about flicker identities and then being a shapeshifter ... this makes me so happy that other creatures have similar experiences.
Whenever I hyperfixate on a character, I'll tend to sort of flicker/shift into them periodically until I stop fixating. I don't really know where the line between just wanting to be them and genuinely being them is, or if there's even a difference that matters. It varies from occurrence to occurrence. Sometimes it really does feel pretty real but even then it's sad because I know that when the fixation stops so does the shift. Not only does that make it feel less real, but it also would be nice to just stay as something for once, ya'know? Idk this identify shit it weird.

So, my shapeshifter brain has this thing where, as soon as it sees something mildly interesting or captivating, it will attempt to make me turn into it. And I'm talking *sensations and all*. It's very inconvenient and annoying, I obviously know that I'm not physically changing shape, but it doesn't help the fact that I *feel* my body parts start looking more and more like The Thing. Really throws me off every time because, unless I absolutely know that it's just a shape-shifting thing and I have absolutely no connection to the form my brain latched onto, I mistake it for a new 'type and go into yet another identity questioning spiral

dream career: one of those absolutely massive crocodiles equal parts beloved and feared by the local population, known for my distinct scars and abnormal size. rumours that i've been sinking fishing boats since the 60's. they toss me whole raw chickens to watch in horror as I explode out of the water to catch it. they call me Big Amos.

Hello from a Saltie :)
Hey there! I haven’t shared this before but I’m also a crocodilan Therian! Crocodilians are the class which alligators, crocodiles, caiman, and gharial fall under.
So far I’ve barely seen any other crocodilan beings out there, so if there are any on here, then hello there! Nice to meet ya :)

Things they don’t tell you about fictionflickering: as you age, your flickers get more and more obscure and weird, until eventually, you’ve gone from fictionflickering popular video game protagonists and modern cartoon villains to flickering from 3 minute long animated music videos, Ray Bradbury novels, experimental 1980s CGI shorts, and the hellish imaginings of your own mind.

Hi! Random anon here that got recommended your intro post, what is an otherflicker? I've heard of otherkin but never otherflicker- just want to educate myself incase I hear it again!!
Hi!!! Thanks for your interest :D I’m fairly new to the term myself so hopefully I don’t get anything wrong here:
The term otherflicker is based on the term “fictionflicker” which describes feeling different degrees of connectedness (fictionkin (identifying *as*), fictionhearted (identifying *with*), etc.) to a fictional character, usually strongest while consuming that media, then (typically) losing that connection as you lose interest in the media. This connection can come back to varying degrees, or not.
So “otherflicker” basically broadens the definition to not just be fictional characters but any ‘type usually associated with otherkinity. Otherflicker identities fluctuate in connectedness, for example one day one might feel like they are kin, the next they may not feel anything towards their ‘type, the next they might feel they are more kith/hearted.
For me personally, I have specific ‘types (avianflicker and dragonflicker) that keep coming back. But for some, they experience their flicker once and then never again. They may have many flickers like this but might not consider them part of their more permanent identity like I do (ex. https://www.tumblr.com/not-really-all-that-human/755314428641181696/so-im-otherflicker-which-means-i-get-cameo-shifts?source=share)
Additionally, "therioflicker" is another subset of otherflicker that is more associated with therianthropy than otherkinity :)
Hopefully that helps and isn’t too confusing! Here’s some links to learn more:

alterhuman flags: otherflicker & fictionflicker
fictionflicker
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A flag with 7 horizontal stripes and a circle in the middle. Top to bottom, the stripes are dark magenta, medium magenta, light pink, light yellow, light red, medium red, and dark red. The circle is the same light yellow as the center stripe, and has a large black image of a candle's flame in the center.]
Fictionflickering is a term for an identity where one takes on the identity of a fictional character or creature for a temporary amount of time. These flickers, which can feel identical to kintypes, typically fade out a short time after the consumption of relevant media ends, although they may last longer.
Fictionflickers may or may not include past life memories or feelings, and may exist for spiritual, psychological, or any other reason. It is somewhat of a grey area of kintypes, and the two can share many experiences such as shifts and identifying as rather than with. The main difference between fictionkin and fictionflickers is that fictionflickers are transient and not permanent.
Some experiences that a user might call flickering may have are small differences between the above description, but flickering is meant to be a nebulous term that doesn't have to be as strict as fictionkin is considered to be in terms of experiences.
The equivalent of kintype for flickering is flicker or flicktype. Fictionflickering is under the otherflicker umbrella.
It is believed that this term originated in 2006. Some resources about flickering are here:

Otherflicker is a term that was originally based on fictionflicker, but broader, including animals and other things that may not necessarily be fictional. The above information about fictionflickers is accurate to otherflickers, except that otherflickers do not have to source their flickers from media (although they might).
Fictionflicker falls under the otherflicker category.

Identifying as Alterhuman doesn't necessarily mean the same thing as identifying as non-human. It's an alternative way of experiencing humanity, and/or having experiences that transcend or go beyond the typically recognized human construct or stereotype of experience. This could be due to neurodivergence, plurality, feeling more connected to primal human traits, etc.
Regarding having a nonhuman identity, it's very much possible to feel nonhuman by nature and on a psychological and/or spiritual level regardless of whether one also identifies as Therian, Otherkin, or any other specific nonhuman identity. One can also have a highly complex and multifaceted experience of oneself and one's identity and identity expression, or one can simply feel nonhuman. One doesn't necessarily specifically have to have any Theriotypes or Kintypes at all to identify as nonhuman. One can feel nonhuman fundamentally and either connect this feeling with being a specific species or entity or not. It's also possible for someone to just feel like...themselves, not a certain other species, but also not exactly human.
It's very much possible to identify as or with concepts, objects, archetypes, certain phenomena, etc., and not only as or with certain species or entities. It's very much possible to feel strongly like the personification or embodiment of something. I can also see how a connection to an object could be so deep that it becomes part of you in some inextricable way.
It's possible for those in a system to feel Alterhuman because being plural is considered to be outside of the social construct of what it means to be "human," as well as the fact that some systems may contain nonhuman alters. It's also possible for one to feel Alterhuman on a deep level while having Kithtypes but not any specific Kintypes. Being Kith itself is a fundamental Alterhuman identity in its own right.
One can feel deeply nonhuman on some intangible level, either wholly or partially, or feel Alterhuman, and not involve any additional labels. It's all valid.
Some may feel as though they were always meant to be a certain very specific species in both mind and bodily form, or else one can feel as though they were meant to be more anthropomorphic. One can have multiple types and feel like their types are all separate or one can feel like a hybrid or chimera or simultaneously separate and hybridized, or one can feel like all of their types are connected through symbiotic relationships, or else one can simply be without types or have types that are fluid. One can have "unusual" types and rare types.
Being Alterhuman and/or nonhuman can mean different things for different individuals, though ultimately this experience is essential to who one is and this identity and the ways one might express it should thus be honored and respected.

Things about being an otherkin/alterbeing I don't see talked about enough
Feeling that there is/was more to your life than just the years of being in a human body
Having "Rare" kintypes
Forgetting what you look like, then getting confused when you dont see your true self in the mirror.
Thinking humans are more bizarre than anything else in the world
Disliking shows/games with only human characters

Being otherkin is going from ":3" to "I am not flesh, I am not bones, I am something beyond. these reflections, these shadows, they're nothing but lies. These eyes always deceive me, always trying to force me to believe that I'm something that I simply am not. I was given features only I can see, only I can feel. Why must I be trapped in this limiting body? Why must I pretend? Is this the universe's form of joke? Do my ancestors look down upon me and scowl? So many questions that are impossible to answer." To ":P" in the span of a few hours or maybe even minutes-

shoutout to alterbeing folk who identify as their shit for less loved reasons. oh you're fictionkin and your involuntay identification comes from the fact you simply like that character? thats lovely. you are otherkin and your kintype changes based on your current hyperfixation? that sounds amazing. you have identities that aren't as big of parts of you? thats just as real and important as someone whose identity is the biggest part to them. you kin that BECAUSE its also a heart/linktype? love that for you. your kintype is because their cannon partner is your F/O? thats so interesting!
people in the community have become too big of elitists. yea for some its just a silly identity and not misery every 5 seconds. theyre just as loved and valued in our community. so everytime you talk shit about the prospect of people having a chosen eliment to their identity or shit you think is "faking" because the reason isnt "serious" enough , theres people in your community you are harming.
