Not pictured (yet): salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, more tomatoes, more basil, more mint, rosemary, lavender and thyme, thistles, lots of flowers, apples, pears, grapes, zucchini.

These pictures don't do justice to how tall these sunflowers are.
Close to 5 m in height, maybe I'll measure them when I cut them down at the end of the season.
Most of my other sunflowers have bloomed already, but the ones in this little patch just keep growing taller.

got my new perennials all planted! with the exception of the smallest solidago these were given to me by a very lovely friend and coworker who raises monarchs but has had to move into an apartment. i am very excited to have these in my care and i hope they flourish and invite more insects to my yard!!

left to right:
solidago spp. - native goldenrod
agastache ‘orange hyssop’
gomphocarpus physocarpus - hairy balls milkweed
monarda spp. - red bee balm
achillea ptarmica ‘peter cottontail’
solidago spp. - i think this is a non native goldenrod but i’m not sure
kcmo - zone 6b

August 12
That black eyed susan is so funny. I have to hack it back to keep it from overtaking everything nearby.

My new natives look amazing. I can believe almost all of them have bloomed in their first year. I hope they all return next year.

I decided to prune my okra tree and I do not regret it. I love the shape and it doesn't seem there were any negative consequences.

Tomatoes are FINALLY ripening (I've been enjoying cherry toms for 2 weeks but no full size would ripen!). I. AM. EXCITE.

Speaking of EXCITE. So many eggplants, but no idea when to harvest them.
