Just made some butter out of an old carton of cream. Next up, bread dumplings to use up stale bread to go in the chicken broth I made from the remains of a roast chicken. The Zero Waste Dog is distraught - he is VERY partial to dairy and thinks he should be in charge of disposing of the cream... All this eating up scraps - who even am I these days?! I took some jars into @the.green.economy at the weekend to replenish my spices and try some honey from Emma's new dispenser. I drove over 400km to take my daughter to a Q&A hosted by my son's school for an electorate I don't live in and an election I can't vote in!! Even as a non-citizen, I care deeply about how the country I live in is run. It was interesting to hear policies explained and to get a sense of the mood in the room. I live in my little green bubble, so I was pleased at the very positive response to all @sarah_hansonyoung's answers. Another observation: the strongest, most coherent answers all came ftom the female candidates. If it had been a head-to-head, I'd give the session to Greens or ALP. The safety razor was a major improvement when the cut throat was the only option on the market. Then Gillette revolutionised the experience. In an attempt to reduce my consumption of plastic I have returned to the safety razor, but it's a misnomer in my hands. It's more akin to a taxidermy device, as I seem to be peeling my whole pelt instead... 🤦‍♀️ .. .. .. .. It's good to be home. Oscar has broken his hungerstrike now he's got his huminions and, more importantly, his best ginger back. In other news, our garden irrigation system got fixed whilst we were away. It turned on at lunchtime and promptly broke again, so our front lawn was contending for redesignation as Whyalla's new wetlands. 🤔 Only managed to turn it off when the engineering-minded one got home from wotk. Needless to say, it's now raining. Did a great job of packing for our family trip. Reusable cups ✔ Reusable bottles ✔ Reusable bags ✔ Reusable cutlery ⁉️ I had packed my cutlery - well, it was in my handbag, so I didn't think about it. Until it went through the airport scanner and they detected a butter knife. 🤦‍♀️ Soooo, my reusable cutlery is now minus a knife🍴😨😢😭, lest I ran rampant with a butter knife.
