Hello, how are you doing?

I wanted to ask: what does the forehead poke mean to Sasuke? I've seen many conflicting narratives and opinions on the gesture. Specifically, when he pokes Sakura's head before he leaves. I don't think, or really know, if Sasuke had some sort of feelings for Sakura during that time. Like, maybe something was brewing? But that may be looking at it with rose tinted glasses. However, I do know for certain that she's a precious person to him. Despite what people may say. But it makes me wonder why he pokes her forehead before he leaves and not, let's say Naruto’s. Since he's also an important person to him. I've seen people be mad about that. Which is strange, since apparently the forehead poke is a bad thing? According to them.

Maybe it's because she wanted to leave with him but he wasn't ready for all that. So, like Itachi, he made a promise of “Next time”.

With regards to the poke featured during chapter 699, Sasuke didn't have romantic feelings for Sakura at that point, but she was definitely more than just a comrade. For him to have given her a gesture of affection that he held as close to his heart as the forehead poke is evidence enough of that, but is nowhere near evidence enough of romantic feelings because that was never the point of the poke.

As to why he used the poke on Sakura and not Naruto? Well, that's not the type of relationship that he and Naruto share. The poke is a very affectionate and physical gesture of affection, and Naruto and Sasuke have never been physically affectionate with each other, or even affectionate with each other in general. No hugs, no fist bumps, not even a formal handshake.

If they were to ever engage in a form of physical affection with each other, it would likely be in the form of a fist bump or something similar, because that's more akin to the type of relationship they have. Sasuke poking Naruto's forehead would just look wrong.

Their goodbye to each other during 699 was far more reflective of their relationship than a forehead poke would have ever been.

I'm a liiiiitle drink but I just realized that SasuSaku is actually a celebration of Sakura's feelings and authentic self and I ship it now ❤️

Also, note to (my future) self since I go through this once a decade or so and then get detailed by Sasuke being nonfunctional: I'm the Sasuke. It's also a celebration of him healing from his trauma and Sakura being patient with him every step of the way. Don't ruin this for me, OK?
